Arsene Wenger has praised Arsenal’s patient performance yesterday, and the influence of Alexis Sanchez who took his goal tally to 10 in his last 5 games with the opener against Watford.
The Gunners took some time to break down an obstinate Watford side, but three second half goals ensured another three points, putting us back in second place.
“We faced a Watford team that was well organised and knew exactly what they wanted to do,” he said.
“They were very physical in the challenge and very strong in the challenges and very direct. These three things together, it took us a while to get on top of that. In the second half, the fatigue coming in, Watford came in less in the challenges and we got the ball quicker in transition and were much more dangerous.
“When we scored the first goal, I like the fact we continued to attack and got a convincing win.”
And on the goal-getting Chilean he admitted he thought about resting him following his international exploits, but didn’t want to upset his momentum.
“When a player is on a scoring moment then sometimes the flow can be disturbed. That is why I leave him in.
“Yesterday in the training session he looked quite sharp and the medical people told me he has no problem at all, then I thought I would test if he is ready and if he was not ready I would take him out.
“But sometimes it is easier to start the game and take the players off than when you go into the game a little bit tired, because you go with the game. So I decided to go for that.
“I like to watch football and that is what you want when you watch him play. That is delightful.”

It is great to see many fellas in the team – Walcott, Alexis, Giroud, Ozil, Cazorla, Ramsey, Coquelin, Bellerin, Monreal, Koscielny and Cech – playing really well at the moment. Off topic. Biggest laugh for me today was Micheal Owen saying only one Arsenal player would get into the top 2 ( Chelsea and Man City ) and that player was sachet. That özil can’t compete with the likes of silva and sterling.
I can’t take that deluded tosser seriously if he can’t even count and or read right. Last I checked Chelsea weren’t even in the top 8.

If Arsene had followed the advice of “experts”, we would be saddled with a declining Fabregas rather than our ever-improving Alexis Sanchez – a strong candidate for the player of the month of October and even player of the year.

Fabregas and Alexis were offered the same season and many felt we should bring Fab back. Considering our cash outlay, I believe it was a case of one or the other and not both.
Nah, we could have done both.
We just chose not to bring him back.
It’d be entertaining to ask Mou how many seconds he’d have to think about swapping Fabregas for either Sanchez or Ozil.

Apparently he refuses to fly up front returning from Chile. He says the seats are too big and the food too rich.
It’s actually because he’s doing sprints up and down the longer aisles of the economy section.
He particularly enjoys the added workout when the plane is in a steep ascent.

The commentary had it right, I think it was Alan Smith, saying that he almost shames his teammates into upping their performance. Couldn’t really ask for more from Alexis, he gets back, forward, sideways and somehow, better and better!

Great result yesterday. Some iffy moments in the first half but we always looked like scoring and once the first went in…. wow.
On another note, I see afobe scored yet again today. Still confused about letting him go, I wonder if there was a buy back option? He looks like a real goalscorer.

Alexis is a God. He can do no wrong. Even his extra dribbles in our own half that sometimes lead to turnovers can be forgiven because of his overall work rate. Watford did well in the 1st half to keep him and Ozil out of the game as it seemed like all of the play was always on our right hand side. Glad our two most talented players made the difference in the 2nd half
I just hope he stays healthy, it’s always such a worry with how much he plays for club and country and how important he is to both teams. Not to mention that playing for Chile often involves heading to South America. We’ve got one of the toughest stretches of the season coming up with Bayern twice and some big league matches so need him for all of them.
Sanchez is our best player right now.
