Mesut Ozil it’s a privilege to be the subject of lavish praise from Arsene Wenger.
The Germany international is currently enjoying the best form of his Arsenal career prompting the boss to state last week: “if you love football, you love Ozil.”
Reflecting on the kind words, Ozil played up the importance of having the manager’s trust and outlined his aims for the rest of the season.
“He knows about football! No, I joke,” the 27-year-old told Arsenal Player. “It’s a privilege for me, especially when such an experienced manager says something like that about me.
“I’m here to develop myself further and I’ve said in the past that I have the manager’s trust and enjoy that.
“My goal is to help the team and I’m on a good way. I’m proud of myself and of the whole team.
“We’ve played a successful season up to this and now we need to work on ourselves to make sure that we become more successful.”
Last season Ozil spent several months sidelined by a knee injury; a problem picked up not long after he was thrown into the team following his country’s success at the World Cup.
The midfielder used the spell out to bulk up and in the final third of last term returned more consistent and convincing performances; form he’s continued since August.
Citing the importance of a full pre-season schedule, Ozil continued: “The coaching staff know exactly how individual players become fit.
“They have all the information and I think a first full pre-season in a long time has helped me to feel really fit.
“Before, I was playing at tournaments after a long season and had little time for holidays.
“In hindsight, you realise that your body may not have the same freshness. At the moment I feel very comfortable, I’m fit and that’s what is important.”

Almost forgot we rested Sanchez, Ozil Santi and Coquelin in our Shffield mini debacle. Surely that counts as a positive all things considered.
All 4 have been quite robust over their careers. A massive factor we need to consider now when buying players. Some just seem to have a knack for staying off the injury list.
Whenever I hear one of ours say something like this I can’t help thinking this is prelude to a spell on the sidelines.

Ozil has been amazing, super, incredible, a genius take your pick. OT. I see a lot of fans are giving joel campbell a lot of crap. I think people are getting on Debuchy’s back because of his poor attitude. He admitted he wanted to leave due to not being a starter but good players fight for their spot. I believe he will be sold at the end of the season & Jenkinson will be our back up again.
Î don’t think Jenkinson will be happy on the bench either. He has been good on loan for two years and then back to the bench ?
It frustrates me so much if people call him lazy… he has a style of appearing to be just lightly jogging on the ball, giving the defender a false sense of security that he doesnt know what hes doing. The defender comes charging in and Ozil just drops his shoulder and he’s away. The way he keeps the ball is absolute genius.
He never seems to do anything that’s not absolutely perfect.

Aside from Arsenals’ injury problems, I have to say this season has been going pretty well over all.

Apparently according toe the media, Wenger ‘panic bought’ Ozil never mind the gaffer refuses to spend even in single digits sometimes. He apparently decided to spend 42.3m out of a whim because he was afraid at being heckled by fans at a train station. So goes the media logic. Money well spent is De Bruyne at 55m where Ozil at 42.3m was panic buying. @diehardgooner Agreed. Like suggesting Campbell was not good at the “footballing thing”? I can’t imagine how people can come to this conclusion. They obviously watch the game differently. Campbell’s movement and use of the ball has always been good. He needed to make an impact which was where he was struggling slightly because he rarely features and when he does it is sporadic and limited time.
