Ozil: We are hungry for success

Mesut Ozil has praised Arsenal’s goal-hungry strikers and tenacious midfielders claiming their performances are helping to bring out the best in him.

The German international, who has been widely praised for his influential performances at the Emirates in recent weeks, also touched on how the familial atmosphere in the Gunners dressing room is fuelling their title ambitions.

“I know that Santi is a very technically-gifted player, just as Francis is,” the 27-year-old told Arsenal Player.

“We call Francis ‘the pitbull’ because he’s very aggressive and always gives 100 per cent.

“I’m pleased to be able to have those players behind me. But you need to praise the whole team.

“We fight for each other and are like a small family. You can sense that on the pitch. It shows that we are hungry for success and that’s why I want to praise the whole team.

“You see in the games that we can change players. Giroud is a different type of player to Walcott or Alexis.

“We have important and good players in attack who are hungry for goals. Those three have scored many goals already this season and you can see that we need them because they always want to score. That’s good for Arsenal.

“Last season, I was out with my knee injury for a few month. This year I feel fit. I have no injuries and can perform well in games. At the moment, things are going really well.”

Mesut's magic

He is just starting to become a top dog at arsenal, the go to guy. Long may it continue!

Nez

World class Oezil, the peacock with a tantalising movement and nutmeg

Pedant

Just coming into his peak years. If he adds a few more goals he could become a legend.

Ronnie Pickering

Sure he had his doubters . Not quite sure why to be fair but either way I think we’re seeing now the boy is ridiculously talented and plays a type of football the average (and most international too ) English footballers can only dream of . COME ON YOU GUNNERS !!!

ManeEth

Off topic, this I guess is gonna be Alexis’ first NLD start…. hope he will come up with something special as he did against Utd

tom

Didn’t he play in any last year?

Paul

Either way you just know that the beast will up for it tomorrow!

ManeEth

He was on the bench for the home game early in the season and missed the away one thru injury

Saigon Jack

The player I enjoy watching the most. His first touches that move the ball tantalisingly away from defenders are dreamy.

Big chance of surpassing Henry’s assist record.

New guy

“At the moment, things are going really well”. Yes. Yes they are. Long may it continue.

Abhi

Fantastic to watch. He is an artist and is becoming increasingly consistent. I love his positioning this season. Getting into dangerous positions much more often and now a genuine goal threat. COYG

Alagba

watching the Stoke vs Chelsea game earlier on, I praised Wenger for his foresight… Ozil is five classes above Fabregas

and

Best number 10 in the world.

Oh shit, he said he’s feeling healthy and referenced a past injury as something in the past.

Somebody please break Jose Mourinho’s toe to appease the injury gods before something horrible happens.

Dougiefresh

Can we stop making references to his eyes.If he happens to look on here, you’ll of hurt his feelings….tssss, shame on you!
He’s family!
