Flamini hoping experience counts

Mathieu Flamini says he’s hoping the experience in the Arsenal side can prove decisive against Olympiacos tomorrow.

The Gunners seek qualification to remain in this season’s Champions League, a competition the Frenchman says is crucial for the club to be in.

“Of course this is an important competition for me personally and for the club,” he said.

“We have a good test to prove we have the quality to go through and continue our adventure. Everyone is focused and I will try to help my partners.

“We are experienced for the big games and I believe we can progress.”

And if they do go through, Arsene Wenger is backing his team to make further progress when the competition restarts in the spring.

“We can be dangerous if we go through because we come from far,” said the manager.

“Overall if you look at the numbers since the start of the Champions League group stage, we have played with 10 men in Zagreb, we scored an own goal at home to Olympiacos, every single game we were a bit unlucky but if we get through we will be dangerous that is for sure.”

We might be crying tomorrow night, but let’s all laugh at United tonight! Hahaha

Witoldo

You heard it here first: Arsenal over United in the Europa League final.

assistantref

I’d rather it be Man U and Spurs playing to a 120 minute 0-0 that has to be abandoned on penalty kicks because no one can score any and they all just give up and agree to let the 3rd place team win it instead.

Witoldo

Wow, that’s a lot of thumbs down for our first European trophy in 21 years.

monkeyjackson

cause you don’t bet against arsenal here! and in your scenario, you do exactly that for tonight

TheArsenalWay

0-0 till 90th minute with Flamini scoring two goals like against the sp*ds in added time! The scenes… Only for him to buy Arsenal right after the game.

Goone's Farm

I might not have any fingernails left afterwards, but I’d take it!

Nice picture pick, Bloggs.

It looks like Mesut dropped his pants when this photo was taken. Wenger not pleased but Flams’s loving it.

Kahn?Kanu!

looks like Wenger is letting out a huge fart

monkeyjackson

no. flamini let one go and finds it funny. the smell just reached wenger in that very moment

Alexstratz

Europa in 4 letters for me: Nope.

Le Jim

Now I don’t want to be anything like the Mugsmashers, and correct me if I’m wrong, but I believe they won the Champions League in 2005, having had to beat Olympiakos by two goals in the group stages.

Rambo to step up for a Gerrard moment, anyone? 😉

IamaGoober

Yeah, their result was at home though.

Gerrard scored in added on time with that volley, queue the vintage commentary from Andy Gray ‘Yooouuu beauttyyyy’

Alex

That picture is worthy of a caption competition – who’s going to start us off?

Flamini: Don’t worry Boss, I got this.
Le Boss: Phew…

Flam : Heh heh,I kept that anal announcement quieter than my billions
Wenger : WHAT ARE THEY FEEDING YOU MATTHIEU??

Arsepedant

That picture really makes me wonder what they’re doing with their hands under the table.

Flamini: “…and zen I tried to comfort our limp Coq because to be injured for zat long is quite sad, no?”
Interviewer: “And what exactly did you say to Coquelin and Santi to try and comfort them?”
Flamini: “First I stop global warming, then I cure cancer, then I buy them new limbs, and then finally buy Arsenal football club so I can be Arsene’s boss for once!”
Wenger: “Oof”

Sol

Flamini : I remember that one time when we had to come from behind against spurs and I scored two cracking goals, let me tell you about that game
Wenger : not the spurs game again (going to be a long night )

arsenal fan

Flamini: hey boss. Cat goes meow, dog goes woof but what does the fart say?

Weisebar

Surely Flamini can just offer the Greek government a few hundred million to make Olympiacos throw the game? The man is worth 20 billion after all.

Tyler B

Don’t shoot me. Am I the only one who is not that fussed if we don’t go through? The benefits of qualification are evident but as has been mentioned, we may be able to dedicate more energy to the league should we not come out of tonight’s game triumphant.

weswakweli

MF: I mean… not to be a brag, but I’m just saying… everyone around me knows this too. I really do have secret super powers.

Paul

Flam: I am going to kick le shit out of Olympiacos…

santori

Flamini. If we don’t keep a clean sheet its his fault. If we do it’s not because of him. When Coquelin helps do the unsung work, its worthy of praise. When Flamini does it, he is supposedly missing in action. This wasn’t an easy fixture by any stretch particularly since Flamini had to shuffle wide to help Bellerin leaving Ramsey expose BC Walcott did not track back enough. The gaffer to his credit switched the hardworking Campbell to cover right and it worked. Flamini was able together with Ramsey to exert better control in the middle and the had to… Read more »
