Tomas Rosicky should be back in full training in three weeks time, according to Arsene Wenger.
The 35-year-old underwent arthroscopic surgery on his knee in August after picking up an injury on international duty in June. Originally ruled out for up to eight weeks by his agent, he’s now been on the sidelines for five months.
Rosicky scored three goals in 24 appearances last season but hasn’t played for Arsenal since May when he came off the bench against Sunderland. His last start was back in March; a 2-1 win at QPR.
The midfielder will mark an injury-hit decade at Arsenal at the end of the current campaign and will no doubt be hoping for a few swansong appearances before he weighs up his next move.
Arsene Wenger has always spoken positively about the experience and energy Rosicky brings to his squad and did not hesitate to activate a one-year extension to veteran Czech’s contract, even though the player himself had reservations of staying on in North London.
Massively underrated player.
If you love football you love rosicky.
He gets a testimonial this year too, right? Who is the last Arsenal player to have one? I know Sagna was almost due before he left.
God
I agree, he’s an awesome player to watch but without any doubt he should have been released in the summer and replaced. He isn’t fit enough to help this team when they need him unfortunately.
Also, if you like sliding tackles and outside of the right boot passes, he’s your man.
I love it that he always passes it forward, and if that’s not on, then he dribbles forward. Always forward with that guy. (And always with the right foot!)
Thomas
Funny how things turn out. I imagine Rosicky will be pretty pleased his contract was extended given the eventual circumstances. If he can add some energy to our title push, then I’ll be delighted we kept him too.
Our Little Mozart. He has been greatly missed due to injuries.
Just in time to face spuds ?
Mozart can still help us
Every time I hear a news on how this year might be Rosicky’s last season, I have a minor heart attack. And I am only 27.
Exactly the same age as Rosicky’s footballing age then! 🙂
we’ve missed players like Tomas this season. He provides good cover for the likes of Özil and Ramsey.
It would be nice to see him back but we need reinforcements…
You got the age wrong blogs.. He’s still 28 in footballing years
Very interesting article on the size of the team and competition. Gosh we have had a lot of injuries. A virtual platoon of players on the table. Am I biased or do other teams have the same difficulties around injuries?
You mean the other article? lol
Comment: Him n his Cech mate will win us the title! COYG!
Rosicky (if in top shape) is the only replacement we have for Ozil considering Cazorla won’t be available until end of season.
The man deserves a testimonial
It is such a shame when you look at the incredibly talented players we’ve had like Rosicky and Diaby (and possibly Wilshere if his injury trend continues) that were never able to fulfill their incredibly potential due so many lengthy injury spells. One of my all-time favorite players, love watching the passion with which he played and the grace he brought to the pitch.
Damn you, interlull.
On a side note, who should wear the hallowed number ‘7’ once TR7 eventually hangs it up for good? Alexis feels more like a number ‘8’.
Rosicky is a good player, i love his style of playing.
Awesome! He’ll come back around the same time my mail-order bridge is set to arrive!!
(Seriously, though, while it would be a bonus, let’s face it history has, very sadly, shown us that Rosicky’s body is destined to betray him until the day he retires).
It will be a great bonus to have Tommy back but him and Arteta have been on the mend for a while and truthfully, they are the senior citizens in the squad so the knocks will be a constant issue. Meanwhile, IF we get Alexis back as advertised by Jan 10, it will be a bonus. Until then, we need to have gumption and commitment to play and compete properly or we will return to the sort of insipid performance as we have shown in Olympiakos/Zagreb. and today. No excuses as to squad depth. Sure we could do with better… Read more »
