The son of West Ham chairman, David Sullivan, claims the injury sustained by Carl Jenkinson on Saturday will see the Arsenal loanee ruled out for the rest of the season.
The right-back, who is spending his second successive season at Upton Park, returned to Slaven Bilic’s starting lineup for the game against Manchester City but lasted only ten minutes as he picked up a foot problem in a penalty-conceding collision with Sergio Aguero.
Just after the Argentine striker converted from the spot, Jenkinson limped from the field to be replaced by new signing Sam Byram.
Carl Jenkinson’s injury is far more serious than we thought and he is out for the rest of the season.

It’s not yet clear what damage Jenkinson has actually done, but if the injury is confirmed through official channels it’s likely he’ll return to Arsenal to begin his rehabilitation.
Last week Arseblog News pontificated over the possibility of Jenkinson being recalled in January to provide backup to Hector Bellerin should Mathieu Debuchy depart. We can probably nip that suggestion in the bud.
We wish Carl the best of luck in his recovery. Let’s hope the Ox and his special blend of ‘banter’ provide some light relief to the life-long Gooner.
UPDATE via West Ham United official’s website:
“Unfortunately, it appears that Carl has suffered a significant injury and he will be assessed by a specialist in central London on Wednesday.
“A further update will be provided when the full extent of the injury has been confirmed.”
What a shame for Jenkinson, that was a terrible day at the office! Literally adding insult to injury as it happened while conceding a penalty. Hopefully he recovers quickly and we get to see him next season.
Indeed, looked to my untrained eye as if he got the ball too. Shouldn’t have been a pen
How much banter would it be if this was all just banter and he’d just bantered us all off with a big load of injury banter
oh, gutted for him, what a shame. Get well soon Carl.
We’re going to have some tough decisions to make about the right back players/positions come the start of next season.
I doubt our decisions will be very tough, to be honest. Both Jenkinson and Debuchy have been focal about not wanting to be the clear second choice, so unless either of them reverses that position I suspect we’ll have to sign someone new. Although I guess Debuchy’s priorities might change after the Euros, but his recent comments about “needing to leave” don’t exactly set him up for smooth re-integration into the squad in the summer.
Signing someone new seems tough enough for us
Wenger never left players who expressed desire to leave linger around for too long. Podolski is last example, just this summer. By the way, I checked and found out Poldi is doing well and scoring goals at Galatasaray,
Get well soon Jenko
I read it on some site called ” Knees up Mother Brown ” so it must be true his knee is gone, sadly, some bad place
You can take Jenks out of Arsenal
But you can’t take Arsenal out of Jenks
and injuries too
Get well soon, mate!
The Arsenal injury gods strike again – he was fine till the possibility of playing for Arsenal came up again!
The injury god must be a Spud!
The injury happened a day or two after West Ham announced he will be returning to Arsenal next season. You just can’t make this stuff up can you?
SHAAAAAAAD, YOU WANKER!!
Noooo. Poor Jenks. I prescribe foot up, on the sofa, under his Arsenal duvet.
Although their relative age is a big difference, I think Debuchy could learn a lot from Gibbs’ professionalism in the wake of Monreal’s good form. Gibbs has every chance of challenging for an England place this summer, yet he’s managed to avoid a public tantrum and seems to still be working hard to regain his place.
Agree but that same quality is the reason why Gibbs has not improved as expected. He appears excessively laid back.
Arrgghhhh! Some really shitty weekend for every gunner huh! Quick recovery matey…
Damn, injury gods only had to hear murmurs of him coming back to Arsenal this season for them to strike him down! Get well soon banterman
Get well soon Carl
Is it a foot, or a knee?
That looks like a knee assessment in the photo to me, but this is all I’ve read up on it.
Yike. Sounds like a knee.
Get well soon Jenko!
What do you expect when many of the injured players are coming back? There shall be new sacrifices!
