Wojciech Szczesny has hinted he’d be open to staying with Roma due to the appeal of regular first team football.
The back-up situation at Arsenal for next season is something of an open one, with David Ospina likely to want a move to play more often. Szczesny could return to understudy Petr Cech – a move which wouldn’t necessarily be the worst thing for him – or stay in Serie A if that option is available to him.
Speaking to Roma Radio, he said, “Will I stay at Roma? For me, football always comes first. I have the confidence of everyone here.
“When you have the trust of your teammates, the Coach and the fans, as well as playing every Sunday, then that can only be for the best.
“Obviously it’s not just thanks to me, but everyone who has helped me.”
The Polish international has made 34 appearances for Roma this season.
Playing every Sunday.
Guess he’s not in the team when they have matches on Saturday then.
Normal match days are Sundays in Italy. Games are rarely on a Saturday.
i reckons he meant ‘playing every week’
Thats some good reckoning right there.
Seria A matches are being played mostly on Sundays. Quotes are probably translated from Italian. I’m not expert, I don’t speak Italian, just guessing, but they might be using different phrases in different countries.
Lets hope Rona make.a good offer then!
I’d be surprised if they did considering they’re getting/got a new talented young keeper with Allison from Brazil. I doubt Roma will keep him on past this season. I’m okay with too as it’s possible Ospina may want to move on and it will be good to see where Szczęsny fits in, if he still does.
I’m pretty sure they’ve already said that they won’t. Ospina will go, so Szczesny will probably come back to be second choice. Dunno where that leaves Martinez who I rate very highly. He’s had a depressing loan spell at Wolves where, because he got injured, he lost his place as their number one. I really hope this hasn’t cost him his career with us and he won’t be sent out on yet another useless, demoralising loan spell till he has run down his contract and is released on a free. He did really well the few times he played for… Read more »
Szczesny is a very good keeper. After Petr Cech retires or got too old, we will need a top top class keeper like Szczesny.
For that we got oooòooooooosssspinaaaaaa
What a chant that would be for Szczesny! Szczczczczczcesny! Can you picture the tongue-twisting?! 🙂
Well, if everybody’s happy with it, one more year, perhaps??
That’s good cos that’s where he’ll be staying
Please stay there
I don’t think Roma is interested. They’ve apparently got someone else lined up for next season already.
Scz has been his normal self at Roma – generally good but prone to the odd farce. By my count his errors have lead to 4 goals this season, about on par with his past average. He doesn’t show any ability to change that.
Spot on about Scz. He’s playing just the way he was when he was at the Emirates. I don’t see any sign of the progress we’ve all been hopong for. Maybe working with Cech on a daily basis will help his game – or maybe this is as good as he’s going to get?
He always brings a spark to the team
Indeed he does. Although he rarely plays like he’s on fire. I would say he’s more of a smoker
Lol…thumbs up from me!
Looking at the timing of this article Blogs, is this another April Fool’s prank?
Well honestly I don’t see the goalkeeping situation changing for atleast the next 3 years. I doubt if he’ll agree to be 2nd choice for that long. So might as well look elsewhere and good for him if he can
Sounds like he tried to dodge the question. Open for a return, a goalkeeper that arrogant is jot necessarily a bad thing for the team. and smoking. For a keeper, i really do not care. Just the errors that nees ironing out. Else id like to see Martinez if hes any good
Once a clown figure………..always a clown.
We now have goal keepers.
I have never heard about the lad, so thanks again George for keeping us in tune. He seems another excellent talent and goes to show the depth of talent we now have coming through the academy . I am sure Nothing pleases us more, as fans, than to see one of our own make it all the way through to the first team, the feeling is akin to watching one of your own children develop, and i am optimistic that some of these lads will definitely make it through. I am already getting very excited about the ‘next gen’ arsenal… Read more »
