In the despair at yesterday’s 4-3 defeat to Liverpool, it’s been somewhat overlooked that Arsenal have lost another couple of players to injury.
Although the list of casualties is nowhere near as long as it has been in the past, losing two players so early in the season is far from ideal.
The Welsh international suffered a hamstring strain after about an hour and is due to have a scan today to determine how serious it is. Speaking after the game, Arsene Wenger put it down to rushing Ramsey back from his international exertions in the summer.
“You are in a Catch-22 situation with the Euros,” he said. “Do you give the players a rest and start the season without many of your players? Or do they play in this kind of game and get injured, like Ramsey today?”
Meanwhile Iwobi picked up a thigh injury which looks set to keep him sidelined for some weeks. His replacement on left, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, came on and scored a goal, and could be the man to start away at Leicester on Saturday.
Fuck you Stan Kroenke (and your shitty toupet). Fuck you Ivan Gazidis. Fuck you Arsene Wenger. I’m out.
Yeh so annoying that they purposely injured these players
yeah ’cause Iwobi’s injury is why fans are pissed off.
the news post is about injuries.
Nothing will ever change all the time we have the obstinate Wenger in charge. Sadly, he passed his sell by date years ago and is totally clueless.
Gunners arguing with each other is a sign that CHANGE IS NEEDED! I defended Wenger all year last year and all summer, but enough is enough. I dont give a flying fuck how much they cost just get it fucking done like every club in Europe!!!! ???
Goodbye, enjoy Manchester part timer.
@jozzer we should sign new fans. It felt like 60 thousand Liverpool fans were at the stadium.
Easy to say that from your laptop mate, you try going and paying every week to see that shite.
Well said glocken
Its not the fans fault we’re in this mess, but 100% the fans make it much harder for the team to be successful.
I dont blame them tho, its not like theyre being unreasonable. Every year financially progress but every year we’re dealt with the same shit while paying a premium.
I dont care who leaves, CHANGE IS NEEDED!!! Whether at managerial level, the board or the squad. I do not care.
Yes lets blame the fans for this mess we are in.. Again. Look here are some points id like some of us to consider for a minute before we tell fellow fans to go support another club because they show some discontent or say something you dont necessarily agree with. Is it our fault that in the main ordinary fan cannot afford a ticket? Or the fans fault that that Emirates has become a corporate arena alongside a tourist attraction? Or our fault the club does nothing to encourage a better atmosphere? Stop blaming fans for the clubs continued failings… Read more »
Hear! Hear!
That’s just garbage. The fans were totally behind the team until we gave up 4 goals in 20 mins due to awful defending ( as a team). The people paying their money have a right to be pissed off at that garbage. Paying the highest prices in the league and yet we have signed 2 senior players in 2 years, I understand why there was anger
Nobody cares! good luck!
can I suggest you take up train spotting? You might just be able to cope with the disappointment of a late train.
You’re out??? Who are you?!
I am a supporter fed up with the status quo at this club. Will still support Arsenal for life, but no more matches, merchandise, etc. Nothing until these robbing cunts get their act together and spend some money. They won’t spend than neither should we!!! It’s the only way to protest and drive change. As a fan base, we’re too quiet and complacement.
I was on my way to buy the new jersey before the game but something gave me the feeling id want to throw it away once the game was done. Glad i didnt throw away all that cash. PATHETIC
Maybe it’s Mustafi?
I seriously started doubting thumbing indicator, this is till now getting 84 thumbs up, and still counting.
I think the blog needs to consider replacing it with boo meter.
So long, you will not be missed.
Bye!
how dare you? Stan Arsene and Ivan are keeping us so safe financialy. who cares for real trophies as long as you can celebrate being in CL group stage for an eternity? woohoo fuck Man Utd fuck Chelsea fuck Man City fuck Leiceter. we are the bank account champions of the fucking world.
You can say what you want to say without all the F… you thing.
Fuck that
“How dare you? Stan Arsene and Ivan are keeping us so safe financialy. who cares for real trophies as long as you can celebrate being in CL group stage for an eternity? woohoo Man Utd Chelsea Man City Leiceter. we are the bank account champions of the fucking world.”
Maybe not without the F you. Try substitutions.
It’s painfully clear here, that a majority of Arsenal fans, would see Wenger enter through a window at night, slip right into bed, bang their wives, and STILL BE WEGNER “IN”…..it’s time to move on.
wenger in? i see what you did there, provided it was intentional
Cool. That’s hilarious how upset you seem to be. These comment sections are pure comedy lately with everyone whining.
I love Arsenal and Wenger and the Liverpool defeat hasn’t gotten me down.
How could it, when the Prem is just starting (best time of year) and we have plenty of exciting matches coming up, with Lester right around the corner. Plus I’m excited because our transfer business is about to get interesting with a couple coming in soon.
COYG! 😀
Finally, iwobi is officially welcome to the first team set-up!
If that wasn’t so painfully true! Maybe that’s why no one wants to come ?
None of that get on a chair and sing initiation. Whistle a tune as you watch your team mates train.
*cries* they grow up so fast.
I find this difficult to write as I have a lot of respect for arsene, however wtf is going on – it’s been clear since last summer what we needed as a minimum – Striker and CB – he’s had 10 months to tap someone up and get deals in place – the devil incarnate at OT said who he wanted and got them – ludicrous we cannot flex our financial muscle so that we don’t need to ‘rush players back’ and lose even more players Spend some money now, pay over the odds of you have too – otherwise,… Read more »
This ideal is based on the fact that he hasn’t made any moves. He has, and the more alarming bit is that players turned them down, both ones we know of and those that we don’t. For me, it’s far more worrying that players do not want to play for Arsenal/Arsene anymore, that it’s no longer a coveted club for big talents. Why is that? What has changed over the last few years? Those are the bigger questions…
Ambition and pride that’s what is missing also we can say goodbye to ozil and sanchez watch this space
Can I ask who are these two players that we know? I can’t only think of Vardy that we actually 100% know turned us down and the rest is speculation. (Correct me if I have there is a 2nd player that we 100% turned us down). I’m going to speculate here has say that apart from Vardy that we know of, I have no doubt we have made attempted moves in the transfer market BUT we have not got as far as a player agreeing to join us or turning us down because our beloved club has a completely different… Read more »
Hey, what’s going on is that you clearly have little or no understanding of how transfers work. And obviously no knowledge of what the club is doing regarding specific players.
Cheer up (that’s in your best interest btw. Sport is for entertainment and enjoyment, and if you are getting so upset maybe you need a new hobby)
Excuse me?
Last time i checked i was entitled to an opinion fella. So long as im not disrespecting you or anyone else by voicing it can i suggest you ask yourself what YOUR problem is?
Whether you agree with what i say or not, dont for a minute think you can suggest i need to go and do anything my fellow Gooner.
So i will humbly suggest that you accept people may have an opinion you do not agree with.
yes.. supposedly only you and Arsene know how transfers work. Every other club and manager out there is just bssing us when they say they signed xxx player and xxx player and xxx player. That’s all just a smoke screen. They didn’t sign shit. Arsenal is signing everyone up pretty soon. Cuz, Arsene knows all there is to know about transfers. Backed by you. And even if he does sign someone. There will be excuses like, he didn’t have a full preseason with us, he isn’t used to our team, players need time to gel. He had a whole year… Read more »
Midfield is the only area of the pitch where we are not short. And with the midfielders Wenger has at his disposal, there was absolutely no need to risk Ramsey.
He’s just embarrassing himself now.
Wenger utterly loves Ramsey to the point he will rush him for everything. There was simply no need to play him. Santi is still a better no.10 and proved so when he came on. Worst comes to worst he could’ve played Iwobi there. He talks about not wanting to rush the Euro players but what was he doing with Ramsey? Me thinks he got swooned by his Euros performance and let his love for him take over and threw him in regardless. Meanwhile, Campbell is wondering what he needs to do to even sit on the bench. Be one of… Read more »
What the stringy old goat is doing with Campbell is plainly criminal. Also, he waited for how long to throw the Ox (by far the best pre season player) into the game? He’s completely lost it! Time to move on!
Wait. Do you mean it’s criminal that he didn’t play Campbell, or it’s criminal that we keep him in the squad?
I like Campbell. His work rate is a hell of a lot better than Theo’s. His possession skills are better than the Ox. I like the guy and wish he would get in the first team.
This is so true, Wenger will play Ramsey anywhere just to get him in the team. Maybe sympathy for that Shawcross injury added to faith. Which is why, it is fucking me off to see the look Ramsey is giving Wenger in that photo. What the hell is it? Is he glaring at him thinking, “you’ve played me too soon and now I am injured.” Or is it, “I can’t win anything in this team with you managing, I need my dream move because I have eaten my own shit and think I am great.” Or is it, “You’re a… Read more »
Wenger is French, not a limey. Just saying.
I laughed out loud at your response.
We all need more cheering up.
Santi isn’t fully fit, either. Doubtful he would have played if it were not for Ramsey going down.
To be fair… but then why should we… Regarding Ramsey: Ramsey did not play in the Euro semi-finals and played in pre-season, so he had been back longer than the others. Other teams played finalists over the weekend. Regarding Buying Players Buying players is easy. Pogba for example is not worth £90m in any market. Buying well is far more difficult. I am frustrated as anyone, but not with our buying which is traditionally good business. Sunday was more about poor tactics and being overwhelmed in the centre. A similar problem last year. Only when we play ball players like… Read more »
Yes, we’re not short now in midfield…but with our luck (& team mismanagement) give a couple more weeks & just you watch.
Wenger only has himself to blame. Selecting Ramsey so soon while we still have other options just schoolboy error. I think he has been in the game so long that he forgets the basics.
The only player we would not have missed from the euro stars was Ramsy then why play him and not the others?
Mr Wenger will say any lies or excuses to save his 8 million a year job.
Have some pride get out of our club Mr Wenger, you’re washed up has been.
I have my problems with Wenger but I doubt he is staying in the job for the money. It’s because he is more similar to all of us than you would like to admit that he is hanging around.
His approach to some things makes me wanna question that statement. The lack of motivation of the players yesterday after the break only further confirms my doubts. As I see it, you can’t adore the club and fail to motivate your players so miserably. Time has passed and he refused to change with it. It’s time to move on.
Completely agree. You have to wonder just exactly what was said in the Liverpool dressing room during the break. Yes, I understand they got the goal just before the break…but come on! They came out like a new team! They knew exactly where our weaknesses were & how to hit us. Most importantly they then MADE it count. Why can’t we be like that??? Haven’t seen AW deliver a similar team talk in ages. The only reason why subsequent changes were made earlier than normal (which had an effect) was down to injury. AW seems to have no in game… Read more »
Ramsey didnt play after the quarter finals, no need to rest hum.
Wengers lack of transfer activity is unconscionable, its bloody nuts.
But to blame Wenger for Ramseys injury is a step too far. Ozil is not ready, and Cazorla was not fully match fit. Iwobi is injured and he didnt play at the Euros. I prefer to criticise the boss for his real mistakes, not every mishap that can happen to a team.
You may be right. On a separate note, did you see how totally disgusted Cazorla looked when he was coming on? Intelligent players sitting on the bench can read the game, and he really seemed pissed we were in this situation on the first day.
What the hell is the club doing? Seems like they are on a permanent “troll the fans till some of them have aneurysms” mission.
What a load of shit supporting arsenal has been for years now! Time to go wenger, your departure is long overdue. Same problems year in year out! Fail to prepare then prepare to fail!
What frustrates me the most is that we have a very poor track record (may not be the worst across the league clubs). Even then we refuse to utilise the full size of the squad.
If there 25 senior players allowed, why not have 25 senior players (with the home grown and other restrictions).
We have started loosing players in every game already to injuries. We haven’t been able to get to bottom of it.
Ramsey is Wengers favourite player so he was always going to play him, he probably shouldn’t due to his patriciption in the Euro’s, couldn’t have Santi started instead?
To blame Wenger for the injury to Ramsey is just plain shite. Don’t embarrass yourself with the comment. Blame him for selecting him full stop. He is not good enough.
I don’t see how Glocken embarrassed himself by stating something that is absolutely logical. When everyone agrees that Ozil shouldn’t be played because he is tired after euros and rushing him may lead to an injury then how can Ramsey play when even he went to the semifinals with his team? I know Ramsey didn’t play in the semifinal but he would’ve practiced with the Wales team for sure hoping they would make it to the finals. Wouldn’t he have needed rest yesterday then? We all know how much the Wales’ players put in for their national team, including Ramsey.… Read more »
Wasn’t actually aimed at glocken, meant as general comment but most have pressed reply
Not only do I think Santi was unfit, but he is also unable to perform the high press that we did in the first half so well.
That in itself would require a tactical tweak that I don’t think any of the players were prepared for.
Meanwhile in every other fucking club in every fucking country every fucking player can play almost every fucking game of the season, even the ones playing championships in the Summer. Fuck the fuckups at Arsenal atm. Clean out, fix this shit!
Stop fucking swearing. We ‘re just fucking unlucky!
Tell us how you really feel…
Bored of the autopsy. We lost a game. Move on, people. Disappointing, dispiriting, avoidable and predictable result but there are 37 league games left to play. The team that played yesterday is not going to be the starting 11 in most of our games this season. Don’t write them off when we’re barely out of the starting blocks.
I don’t get the line between positivity and delusion, there is always x number of games to a goal (
Sorry, posted halfway through the comment.
I don’t get the line between positivity and delusion, there is always x number of games to a goal (title, CL positions, etc),then there is always the next season(s).
What I’m pretty sure is, we wouldn’t play the same XI not because there are experienced players to come back but because of our injury record!
Think a change in formation maybe needed to stop alexis from being isolated up top. I know it won’t happen but wouldn’t mind seeing a twin attack aganist leicester considering that they will play 4 in midfield.
Its funny how Wenger still asks questions aboutbthis being a catch 22. You have been an arsenal coach since 1996 I would expect you to know what to do in most situations being the manager for 20 years. Your willingness to not spend knowing that we don’t score enough goals and defend well enough is the reason for arsenal being where they are. Stop being stingy. Get more quality players that score goals and defend as if their lives depend on it. Are you happy with not winning the league for 20 years. At the end of the day every… Read more »
Wenger, the medics are all to blame. Club needs to hire that Raymond veri-whatever guy. He’s been saying this for ages…Wenger’s methods are outdated. When last have we seen ramsey go a season without injuries??
This club is in shambles. From top to bottom.
I’m really sorry for Iwobi, but to be honest… In a team that is aiming for the title I think Santi, Ox, Wilshere should overtake him as far as team selection concern. I think he is really talented but on the other hand he is only 20, and in a league where the competition is so high (and when we play against one of the favourites) his 3-4 passes/game to nowhere-land can easiley be deceseive…
I mean: decisive 🙂
His pass that laid on the first goal was quite decisive too. Ignore that though eh.
Ramsey will always be behind Santi in my pecking order. Why was he selected in the first place?
Because Santi is getting old and fat. Also he has been out for quite a time. It’s time to phase him out and start building for the future.
oh is it? So your idea of building up for future is playing a player who publicly acknowledges that he would like to fuck off to Spain once Barca come calling?
We have been building for the future since ages. It’s time to play the best players available and Cazorla is the best in his position.
I feel like there must be some insider trading shit going down with the top brass. Why does it seem like they’re sabotaging our already sinking ship?
Wegner’s approach to summer and pre-season is all wrong. He values mental fitness above physical fitness, which is why he insists on extended time off for his players. While our key competitors were playing some of the top teams in the world in the US, other than the last game with Man City, we played pretty weak teams. He should shorten the summer break considerably, and take the team offsite to a location where they can train hard, and still have some fun. Rather than up-down swings in fitness, it’s so much better to just stay fit; much less chance… Read more »
i’d imagine that the delusional fool was delighted rambo got injured purely so he could once again prove to the press how wise he was by saying “look what happens when i rush players back”.
Sagna played for city, pogba would have played for United and payet looks like he is playing tonight. Go figure
I have just have had about enough of wenger. I am tired of his excuses, his mental strength bullsh!t, his training methods that keep injuring players, his lack of wining mentality and his lies. For all I care we could sign messi, suarez and sergio ramos right now and we wouldnt win the title. The disbelief in the players after conceding the goals against liverpool was staggering. They bowed their heads down every time. Wenger is truy past it. No will to win charcterizes his team. And no 2 or 3 players wii fix it. I wont be hoping we… Read more »
No big deal! We were so much better without Ramsey last season! I’m even happy about it: then no more selection problem for Wenger, but we’ll get Elneny – Coquelin and Santi as 10!
I’ve given Wenger so many chances and given him the benefit of the doubt so many times but if he doesn’t make at least two significant signings by the end of this month I’m joining the Wenger Out clan.
Wenger’s last season without a doubt. And thank God if it is so
He is creating his legacy….Wenger knows. It’s all about him, always….building it back is about now.He will always be great, …one of the good ones.
Elneny’s face in that pic says it all. Sheer terror at the realisation that no one knows what the fuck they’re doing.
Anybody notice how Ramsey is looking at Wenger?! Also Elneny apears to be spooked !
FUCKITY FUCK FUCK FUCK…WHY THE FUCK DO WE EVEN BOTHER…OH YEAH FIGHTING FOR TOP 4 IS FUCKING EXICITING…
btw love the look on Ramsey’s face…can he use it during the game…
I still don’t understand why Campbell wasn’t even on the bench. He took an unfit Jack Wilshere and started short on rest Ramsey along with Walcott who in my opinion had a bad preseason while Campbell can’t make the bench, our 30 plus million purchase only comes on for the final 1/3 and Chamberlin who also had a great preaseason doesn’t start. Makes no sense at all.
I can understand not starting Carzola, but why not Xhaka over Coquelin? Why does he keep giving Walcott chances while Campbell is left at home?
Campbell should be playing ahead of all the wingers except Sanchez. We should show our support to Campbell using banner or something. Else, Wenger will destroy this huge talent.
I completely agree with your point about Campbell. What more does that guy need to do to get in the starting eleven, let alone the bench?!?
I have to disagree on Xhaka. He hadn’t played at Premier League levels before. Also, when he came on he looked off the pace and had a pretty useless yellow card.
Well.. The season has just started and it has already started falling apart!
Season after season this is going to continue. Why did Ramsey start over Santi?
I am not going to continue talking about it because I know it is useless.
Let us all keep complaining as usual..
ALL I WANNA SAY IS THAT THEY DON’T REALLY CARE ABOUT US!
First game guys, anything can happen and we got beat. Liverpool had a very strong team on the day. Though Wenger definitely had his tactics wrong, again!
Should I hysterically laugh because we knew this was coming or pull my hair out because what happened yesterday was so easily avoidable yet they did nothing?
Wha dze fuck iz Wenger doing not playing Campbell for fuck sakes and dze fuck shit not buying players?
Team yesterday should have lined up like so:
Cech
Bellerin
Rodriguez (Wolfsburg)
Mustaphi(Valencia)
Chambers
Carzola
Elneny
Xhaka
Alexis
Campbell
Maura Icardi(Inter)
Still fuming the buck stops at Wenger. His counting down the transfer window just to make a couple of £million savings on a player is starting to drive everyone berserk.
We have holes in the squad that should have been filled weeks ago. Seen as how he isn’t going to bother signing a striker this week I think he should give Campbell a go there.
I, for one, relish in the club’s financial health. I often find myself giddy after reviewing the club’s operating margins, free cash flow and cash on hand. Much preferred to “signings”
The race for Top 4 has officially started now.
This post hoc ergo propter hoc rationale is the same nonsense used to justify not playing Giroud, Kos and Ozil. If you know you’re going to rest guys who go deep in the Euros, your best defender is on one of the odds on favorite and you need to upgrade at the fucking position, why the fuck don’t you go out and sign a defender early? Ditto for Giroud. Both THE TWO MOST SIGNIFICANT POSITIONS OF NEED!! Secondly, why is Ramsey, someone routinely injured, in the squad and Ozil not? They both went to god damn semis of the tournament.… Read more »
I have always been a pro-Wenger. Deep respect for him. But still, being served the same dish for 20 years, I think it’s time for a change.
We just give wenger one season
It may be because I am a younger and therefore newer fan but I feel like the fan base is over reacting. I completely understand the desire to win but it seems like people want it to happen no matter the costs. Yes we could fire arsene and sing some one like Josè, replace 7 of our first eleven, not see a single player from our youth academy touch the pitch, and watch a boring defensive play style and win more games. I for one would hate that. Arsenal has a identity. We tend to do things the right way,… Read more »
A decent manager will know that we don’t need 7 signings and that we just need 2 or 3 signings to compete.
And if a club is not playing for titles, do you think the players will stay at this club? The ultimate aim for any footballers is to win trophies and if we are not able to help them gain that, even the same players that came through the academy will leave for glory.
Ramsey looking like, “Dad, what the fcuk are you doing?!”
How about some support?! For fuck sake! You could hear a bunch of Scousers throughout the game whereas you could hear a fucking pin drop from our ends! And that’s every game maybe minus Scum
Amazing that people still go to Arsenal games? Possibly for the weekly contribution to Wenger/Stan purse
I’ve been a Wenger supporter through the toughest of times but if he does not sign lacazette and mustafi, we will not win anything.
Santi was desperately unfit, as we could see when he came on. Iwobi looked like he was still on holiday for pretty much the whole game (assist aside). Walcott? He scores one goal and becomes anonymous. Sanchez was poor (new position aside). The mentality of the team is the real problem. When you have players who are incredibly talented but just don’t have the mental strength to be able to motivate themselves for a full 90 mins it is incredibly frustrating. Equally frustrating was watching the Ox do so well to score a goal and then completely switch off for… Read more »
Where are the new recruits? Everyone knew we needed a new, EXPERIENCED center back (not just for the numbers but a quality one) for the past year or more. Still, there is no new cb… And do not say there are not a lot of good, experienced cb available, other lesser teams have recruited very good CBs. Van dyke, Belgium blokes at spurs, etc…
So typical. Injury list already. At least with Iwobi we have plenty of cover with Campbell, Ox not to mention Walcott now on the wing and we still have Gnabry who has had a great Olympics thus far. Ramsey is a bit of a different matter with Jack still tender. Natural player in place of him I believe is Ozil with Santi rotating or playing link with Coquelin or Granit IMO. The fact is Wenger is his own enemy not because he has rushed to get any of his International players back quickly because he did not. NOt because he… Read more »
Arsene’s had plenty of time to get a striker in and chose, for whatever reason, not to do so. Therefore, and I hate say it, the stick he’s getting is justified. People could be a bit more respectful in how they go about it but that’s the internet for you, full of tough guys.
Walcott, ox, jack and even Ramsey are all injury prone players that should have been sold to free up even more money for Stan’s bank account.. the poor old bugger can hardly afford a warm meal nowadays.
Is it just me or does it look like Ramsey is looking at Wenger with contempt?
SPEND SOME FUCKING MONEY.
