Arsene Wenger has already made clear that Serge Gnabry will stay at Arsenal this season, however, that hasn’t stopped the German media quizzing possible Bundesliga suitors about a move for the winger.
Last week Hertha Berlin boss Pal Dardai said they were monitoring the 21-year-old while Mainz were also touted as a possible loan destination.
The latter has now denied such interest with sporting director Rouven Schroder telling reporters: “There is nothing to it.”
Schroder did though praise the player, adding: “He played great games at the Olympics. He’s hard-running, pacey and strong in one-on-one situations.”
Still only 21, Gnabry now has a real opportunity to deliver on the potential he showed when he broke into the Arsenal first team four years ago.
His six goals at the Olympic Games mark a great return to form for a player whose career appeared to be plateauing after two injury-hit years and with Joel Campbell out of the picture for a while it looks as though he’ll be given a chance to compete for a first team berth.

I am not sure how much playing time he is going to get. It’s like a vicious cycle in almost all the big clubs. You want youngsters to do well but they hardly get consistent opportunities. It’s like you have 2 games in 2 months to prove your worth and that’s generally a vary tall ask for young players. I would have been happy if we had loaned Gnabry to somewhere where he could have played 25+ games and keep Cambell who is much more ready. Good luck to both.
Thankfully Wenger has implemented this genius stem into our club that always ensures youth will get a prolonged chance at playing for the first team.

Its a very tall ask for any player. Its why our second string get so much stick when they come in for a game here and a game there. The whole Gnabry story should make me really happy and optimistic, however it just fees tainted by our current situation. Shows what the club has allowed the fans to be swallowed up into. Really hope he can press on and make a name for himself at Arsenal. I’ve just heard myself say that about so many players over the past few seasons now that it becomes harder and harder to believe.

I think he can give theo a genuine run for his money this season. Don’t know how our striker search is going but the media is making the most out of players rejecting us, I think this is more due to the uncertain future being that this may well be Wengers last season than they thinking our club is going backwards

Said before that this guy has immense potential and has already shown us that such as his breakthrough 13/14 season and the Olympics. I honestly believe that he’s better and more exciting than Iwobi. Whenever Gnabry is on the ball you can sense that something will happen. Everyone remembers the game against the spuds where he was just running at rose and walker and they couldn’t stop him. Got a lovely assist for Cazorla as well before Rosicky finished it off.
I like him and I genuinely want him to succeed. However, his staying and fighting for a place in the first team and buying a new forward shouldn’t be mutually exclusive. My fear is Mr Wenger doesn’t agree.
Its not just whether Wenger agrees. There needs to be a decent striker out there who is willing to be bought by Arsenal, and whose Club are willing to sell him to us. All those striker’s agents out there know how to use the internet just like we do, so they know that the perception is that we aren’t quite good enough to be at the top. Money + Gnabry might be more attractive to Wolfsburg, since it saves them the trouble of having to look for another (young German) winger. If Gnabry’s hype is to be believed, it won’t be too much of a stretch to consider that a viable option. Specially since we loaned out Campbell.

If Gooners know that Gnabry has only ever had one decent but short spell back in 2013-14, and one decent run in the Olympics, and so he “probably” isn’t the answer to our need for a top striker, then do you seriously believe Wolfsburg (who play in his country, by the way) don’t know that too? It will be interesting to see how Wenger may use him this year. He certainly put his faith in Iwobi last year and to start this year (though he only got his chance through injuries as Bellerin did) and with Iwobi, Walcott, Chamberlin and Sanchez ahead of Gnabry (not to mention potentially Ramsey or Wilshere if used out wide) will be tough to get matches in for him or even a spot on the bench.
I would love for us to play him soon: he is on a high after brilliant Olympics, is match-fit and with the lethargy we sense both on and off the pitch, we could use his boost. Love what we started to see from him when he got into the first team and regardless of what happens in the transfer market for us, I think we can expect great things from the kid in the future.

Great umber of options out wide. Ox brings something dynamic and energetic. when he is on for us. Decision making is his issue but he will learn. Simply love our strong he is when running and his technical ability. Loved it when Simpson bounced off of him trying to stop the Ox at full pelt. Iwobi is unusual. Because… The Ox – been here years now and yet still ‘potential’ Iwobi – is potential. Very young not a lot of experience and he doesn’t seem a natural winger to me. More a number 10? Walcott – 28. Delivered one season in ten. Has awful ball control but is a good finisher when he doesn’t have time to.think and when he can bring the ball under control. Gnabry – again potential but not proven. Serge and the Ox are basically clones of one another. Both about the same size and build…both pacey and good on the ball with power….maybe Serge has more end product?

Hmmm I just wish all our players could have the knd of form Gnabry showed at the games. At times I think Wenger is the problem as to how our payers can’t perform at a hundred percent. We have the players but the team looks vulnerable and fragile. I know at all cost we’ll have a different manager one day
