Report: Alexis facing tax investigation in Spain

Reports from Spain say that Alexis Sanchez is facing a tax investigation in Spain, dating back to his time with Barcelona.

El Periodico report that the Arsenal man was the subject of a formal complaint from authorities in for alleged fraud to the Treasury of €983,443 for the years 2012 and 2013.

He is the fifth Barcelona player, or former player, after Lionel Messi, Javier Mascherano, Adriano and Samuel Eto’o to have fallen foul of tax laws in Spain.

They say that Sanchez used an offshore company called Numidia Trading to avoid payments due on image rights, and that the company is a ‘purely instrumental entity to facilitate the fraud committed to the Spanish Treasury.’

Messi and Mascherano were both found guilty of far more in terms of the amounts of money involved, and although sentenced to prison time did not serve any, and paid fines.

Chances are Sanchez will face something similar, but no doubt we’ll get more details in due course.

Barcelona is like that dark past, probably still gives Sanchez nightmares. Welcome to the Arsenal family Sanchez. Welcome to the light.

Barcelona needs a good tax attorney on the staff to advise the player.

Naughty Barcelona, spending all their money on transfers and wages, they have to make due with employing shitty tax advisors.
