Macey ‘buzzing’ after sealing Luton loan move

Matt Macey will spend the second half of the season on loan with League Two side Luton Town.

The 22-year-old keeper, currently fourth in the pecking order at the Emirates, joined the Gunners from Bristol Rovers in 2013 but is yet to make a first team appearance.

Speaking about his move to Kenilworth Road (don’t forget your leggings!), Macey told the Hatters’ official website:

“I’m buzzing. I’ve been waiting for this opportunity for a long time, to finally get a chance to go and prove myself is brilliant.

“It can be a bit of a bubble at Arsenal and places like that, but I had a taste of it at Accrington and before that I was at Bristol Rovers as a young lad, so I know what League Two is all about.

“As soon as I heard there was interest I was 100 per cent on the way. You don’t get opportunities like this too often, so when you get one you’ve got to go for it straight away, don’t think twice.

Arseblog News wishes Matt all the best for the rest of the season.

Pretty decent club to get games at that age. Hopes it does him good.

Leggings? Plastic pitch reference?

has he been to Luton before? It’s not the kind of place that makes one buzz

The town of Luton is probably not a buzzy place, but as a club it does have a great youth development policy and gives young players a chance to develop by playing senior/first team football, rather than languishing way down the pecking order somewhere else. I really wish him well there, as he will be in good hands.

He’s doing alright so far. Seems a bit nervous at times (perhaps understandably, he’s playing for the Mighty Hatters after all!) and can flap a bit, but clearly a v. good shot-stopper.

He was MoM on Wednesday evening against Oxford, despite letting in three goals (of their dozens on target).

Plus he seems to be loving the cauldron that is Kenilworth Rd on match-day.

Thanks for the loan
