Mesut Ozil continues to sit out training sessions with the German national team due to a back problem.
The midfielder missed his country’s 1-0 win over England on Wednesday night and is a major doubt for the World Cup qualifier against Azerbaijan in Baku on Sunday evening.
The 28-year-old has played only 19 minutes of football since starting Arsenal’s 5-1 defeat at Bayern’s Allianz Arena on 15 February.
On Monday Arsene Wenger confirmed that the Gunners had reached an impasse with their record-signing over a contract extension and that further negotiations are now on hold until the end of the summer.
After starting the season well and speaking positively about his life at the Emirates, things have certainly turned sour for Ozil who is now tipped to move to pastures new along with Alexis Sanchez.
There’s nothing for it…here are some more puppies.
I thought it was his hamstring according to the club?
His hamstring is better, now this morning he stopped training with Germany because of his back.
Yeah – like it is common for the two injuries to be linked. Tight hamstrings can effect your lower back badly, but I am still quite sceptical though. I find it slightly too convenient that since his book release and since his agent has come out and made those remarks about him being a scapegoat etc. he’s hardly played any minutes. So I don’t know. I think he is such a baller. I’ll be so sad to see him go in the summer. A lot of peoples hate for Ozil is fairly unwarranted, he does work so much harder off… Read more »
*air quotes* back injury *wink*
He doesn’t want to play for arsene/arsenal anymore
This is Germany he cant play for? Low out
Burned.
Your name is nearly really good. But it should be:
Mustafi love but it’s over now.
Maybd it’s time for some fans to show respect for Mesut! No, he doesn’t fake, yes, he wants to play for Arsenal. He is not the one laughing at his team’s losses and bursting out of the pitch like a two years old. Booing him and singing indecent songs are shame! He is a pro and instead of following the pundits and media (that have always denigrated him), it’s time to admire him and his football before Turan (*laughs*) replaces him…
sometimes I smile, so I don’t cry.
#StayMesut
Oh fuck sake. Is this because that Sunday league nobody clattered him in the 85th minute at 5-0 up. Sorry, “let him know he was there*”. We -might not have looked- obviously would not have been so impotent against West Brom if we’d had him.
Becoming bit sickly lately. What’s going on with Ozil? It’s like he doesn’t play for Arsenal anymore.
His back should be fine….not exactly been carrying us has he !
It’s not uncommon for people with back issues to experience problems in the hamstrings too.
Oh..he doesn’t want to play for Germany either..
Well he can’t play for Germany if he’s on the sick list for us can he. Not sure why he travelled with them though, it’s not like he’s kamikaze like Alexis.
“The 28-year-old has played only 19 minutes of football since starting Arsenal’s 5-1 defeat at Bayern’s Allianz Arena on 15 February.”
Didn’t he play most of the Lincoln match after Ox got subbed off?
If you ask Chris Sutton, Ozil was playing rugby against Lincoln. Filthy player…
I love the new feel of Arseblog news site. Kudos blogs!
Now if you could add a “edit comment” tool to help mitigate the auto-correct mishaps ?
You can edit now!
Fuck me. That was quick.
…erm… how?
My negotiation tactic in the summer for ozil and sanchez would be “ok guys just give this one last fucking shot with a few recruitments and if it doesn’t work out you can waltz into any team in the world on a free transfer ok? Let’s do this.”
And here’s hoping that the new recruits can actually go toe to toe with the likes of our two sulking stars. (Maybe even do one better… fingers crossed.)
That’s £150 million walking out of the bank at the end of next season!
I doubt we’d get 150 even right now, but yup, that’s the sticking point. The so-called “100mil war chest” wouldn’t even begin to cover the loss.
Must get a lot of back injuries when you don’t have a spine
We need him back ASAP.
I’m now nervous with Ospina in goal.
The last thing we want is the other end to stop being productive.
Shut up shop tight at the back will mean more midfield protection to cut out crosses. BUT we will also need creativity.
As with everything, we need to strike the right balance between enterprise going forward and caution protecting the backline.
Lol… I forgot Arsenal was about the football because the football has been so shit recently…
I love puppies, Blogs…but I have a cat.
I think shes getting jealous of this puppy propaganda.
“On Monday Arsene Wenger confirmed that the Gunners had reached an impasse with their record-signing over a contract extension and that further negotiations are now on hold until the end of the summer.”
End of the season surely?
Get the base of midfield working already. I mean, have we adequately replaced Santi or figured out a working combination there? It’s no surprise to me that when he gets injured, our season goes to shit.
And when that’s functioning properly, Ozil has a platform to shine on! Sorry, couldn’t figure out editing.
*boilk*
It would be alarming if he played for Germany ha stage game of his life and was ‘injured’ for us.
