Arsenal have announced details of the Emirates Cup which will take place this pre-season.
The games are being held on Saturday July 29th and Sunday July 30th, and joining the Gunners for the weekend are Benfica, Sevilla and RB Leipzig.
The first two have great European pedigree, with the Spanish side three time Europa League winners, while Leipzig currently sit second in the Bundesliga table behind Bayern Munich.
It was reported last year that their manager, Ralph Hasenhuttl, was one of the candidates to take over from Arsene Wenger should he decide to call it quits this summer.
“There was a lot of truth to it,” he said last December.
“I have heard of worse fates than succeeding the longest-serving manager in England. It’s not damaging my reputation, is it?!”
The fixtures for the weekend are as follows.
Saturday July 29th
RB Leipzig v Sevilla – 2pm
Arsenal v Benfica – 4.20pm
Sunday July 30th
RB Leipzig v Benfica – 2pm
Arsenal v Sevilla – 4.20pm
For once we don’t play Bayern. Would have loved to play against RB Leipzig
..but who sanctioned a return for na$ri?
Na$ri is on loan there from City so might not be with Sevilla anymore come the Emirates Cup.
Good! Then we can steal Forsberg, the Swedish Leipzig midfielder!
I’d rather bag Timo Werner. Young, fast and deadly accurate. Both of them would be great though.
You spelt “bang” wrong.
yeah! just like that time when we needed to sign a striker, and then Lyon came over with Lacaz….oh wait.
I don’t know why this has downvotes. He is talented, young and along with Keita, the real star of Leipzig. Best player in bundesliga 2 when RB promoted, then will go toe to toe as the best player in Bundesliga too. About time we have future Swedish player of the year again after Ljunberg.
RB Leipzig? Should have told the to$$ers to get fooked. Sick of ‘franchises’ in footy.
I’m currently travelling and have asked many Germans why a team investing in young, German talent, who were one of the first ‘big’ teams in German football, and trying to shake up the status quo a bit is so unanimously hated. They all say it’s because they are buying success, yet don’t have an answer when I say what bayern do is way worse. Would have absolutely no issues whatsoever if a club did the same in England.
Exactly – Bayern are worse for German football than Leipzig
RB Leipzig is a way for Red Bull to advertise their disgusting drinks, rather than a proper football club. Red Bull bought a team in something like the 5th tier of German football (after failing to buy an established club, as the German FA didn’t allow it), changed its name and poured in loads of cash, in order to climb up the leagues. None of the money spent on buying success was earned from football, in much the same way Chelsea, Man City and PSG were relative nobodies (but to a far lesser degree than RB Leipzig) when they got… Read more »
I get hating red bull but not the fans and team in the way people do. Even the pretty awesome dortmund fans were throwing bottles at them. Imagine being a kid in leipzig and experiencing the rise they have- football would be dull if the shit teams stayed shit and vice versa.
this is seriously good lineup . Leipzig and sevilla are good teams and benefica has a reputation to be a giant killer
Very hipster line up. Big fan
Hopefully we get Naby Keita and Forsberg from them.
And their fans saying: Hopefully we get Xhaka and Ox.
Can we talk about John Terry’s mum? LOL
