L’Equipe report on PSG in London and Sanchez agreement

Despite the fact Arsene Wenger said quite categorically earlier this week that Arsenal’s decision was not to sell Alexis Sanchez, speculation about his future continues.

In France, L’Equipe say PSG Sporting Director Antero Henrique was in London for two days to have talks over the Chilean forward. It’s not quite clear who he was meeting though.

It may have been Sanchez’s agent, Fernando Felicevich, although you’d wonder why he didn’t go directly to Paris.

Arsene Wenger is in China, of course, and we assume Ivan Gazidis is still out there, so in terms of the people who can make decisions about transfers at Arsenal, they’re in short supply.

The report suggests that an agreement has been made in terms of contract length and salary, and the last thing to do is to convince Arsenal to sell.

Given what Wenger said earlier in the week, it would take a considerable offer to make that happen – certainly more than the £45m that’s being bandied around.

Normal old Alexis boll*cks negotiating/posturing.

Will be glad once it is over.

Mein Bergkampf

I’d love to know how many words have been written, how many articles compiled and back pages dedicated to a story where the only salient facts are a Chilean has said it’s up to Arsenal and Arsenal have said it’s not happening.

IamaGoober

This might be an unpopular opinion but I would look to move him to PSG, if they want him, and they’re willing to pay up for him. He doesn’t want to be at Arsenal anymore, we’ve offered him truck loads of cash and he’s still saying no, so there is no point trying to keep him here. I get that ‘yeah its Alexis, he always applies himself and gives 110% to the cause, and he runs his hole off,’ but realistically he is still going to have an influence over the dressing room, and not to question his professional integrity… Read more »

EDgooner4ever

its only foreign clubs he can negotiate with until his contract is finished…

Original Paul

I agree, but imagine if he stayed and did well in his final year playing in the “shop window”? This is a tough decision, over to you Arsene good luck!! 🙂

Eric

It doesn’t help negotiations when Sanchez doesn’t know if Arsene was staying or going until the final hour. It doesn’t help further with people hiring planes calling for his head flying over the stadium. Some want stability with there left hand while the right hand chisels at the foundation.

Hi-brid

Oar.

Gutbukkit Deffrolla

I’m glad you put that in.

Little Mozart

Swapping Alexis for Draxler is the dream here.

Sean

Are they allowed to do this before next January?

If not… swines.

Martin

No they can’t do this and it is pure fiction.

Rich

If we could get Draxler and/or Rabiot in exchange? I think it would be the smart thing to do.
But selling him whilst not obtaining an adequate replacement or significantly upgrading other areas of the pitch first would be weakening us significantly for next season.
If Alexis is 100% on leaving? I’m keen to put this to bed as long as we don’t sell inside the PL and get another 3 signing who improve our first 11.

David

Nooou we better get cavani, di maria and/ or veratti lol

This aint football manager mate

Nez

Cavani & Di Maria are not fit to lace his boots. Verrati would be a great addition but a totally different player.

emob

When have you ever seen an exchange deal happen? It doesn’t work and it never happens.

Bryanclayden

Just about to happen. Belotti to AC Milan 35+ 2 players and we got william gallas in the asshole cole deal.IF we are selling him it would be the smartest thing to try and get one of there forwards and CMs. Then use the money we have on Lemar.
Let’s say rabiot, draxler and lemar came and alexis gone and not to a prem sounds the best option other than a new contract

emob

None of that is happening though. Yes, in Italy swap deals occasionally happen with part-time rights to young players swappiung. But save for Eto’o and Ibrahimovic swapping clubs and Gallas/Cole no major deals are ever done like that. The thing is, those players have to decide individually if they weant to go to the respective clubs and good luck with that. Our chances to ocnvince Rabiot and Draxler are very small and it will take a major push to get Monaco to sell Lemar which I’m not convinced we’re willing to do. Football is not American sports.

Bryanclayden

The point you made was that they never happen.Andy Cole was in a swap deal, Roberto Carlos was, Michael Owen was. Obviously the other players would have to agree, but that is the same in any transfer. The point we were making is that we should TRY and take advantage of this by getting a replacement back + cover the CM to.you can always TRY:)

emob

Ok, you got me, in that I was talking in too broadly in absolutes. But those deals are extraordinary, consider e.g. the Gallas/Cole deal happened under extraordinary circumstances in so far that both players contracts were up in a year and both wanted to leave their respective clubs as fast as possible. Under any other circumstances the deal would have been nearly impossible. Same goes for Eto’o who was in his last year of contract and wanted to leave Barcelona badly. Of course you can always ask, but there’s about less than 1% chance Rabiot would go to Arsenal in… Read more »

Fifth Duke of Portland

Wasn’t Lukaku and Rooney a swap deal this summer?

emob

Nope, those were separate deals, that would have happened anyways, ManU was desperate to offload Rooney.

emob

PSG are not letting Rabiot go, he has jsut signed a new contract, conveniently citing Arsenal interest in the negotiations. They will let Matuidi and Krychowiak leave this summer and Verratti will also leave sooner or later. Rabiot will be pretty much given the keys to their CM and we don’t pay the wages to compete, so it’s pretty much a pipe dream.

PFo

You’re both right. It’s crazy unlikely, but we should totally try. If they really want Alexis, we should make them consider the swap, and maybe they’ll be duped into agreeing. Stranger/dumber things have happened in football. Of course they’re not going to give us BOTH Draxler and Rabiot, and the idea of getting Draxler is bonkers. But getting Rabiot is maybe slightly less bonkers (if that fails, getting Matuidi wouldn’t be a bad idea either, but only if it was in addition to a very large fee, like 60m). Heck, as highly as I rate Alexis, he’s pushing 29 and… Read more »

PFo

Who says we don’t pay the wages to compete? Those days are quickly becoming a memory. If we’re selling Alexis, we could put Rabiot on, say, 200k a week and still have the room to offer Lemar 90-100k a week (which is what’s been suggested in the press to be basically agreed with Lemar’s people). I don’t know what Rabiot’s on now, but I’d be pretty surprised if it’s over £200k a week!

emob

Nono, I’m sure we totally could, I just don’t believe we will. But this is the stuff of fantasy anyways, no way they’re giving away a young, potentially great player away for someone with only one year of contract left.

the Stig

Sort of happened with Bonucci / DiSciglio. Even tho fees were involved for both players, i bet they agreed of discount prices back and forth.

Cliff Bastin

Cashley cole for Bottle it gallas, Reyes for baptista, Sol Campbell for winning the league at white hart lane in an unbeaten season wait hang on

Andy Mack

I thought Baptista was a loan…

caj

It’s almost unheard of, but Everton and Manchester United just swapped Rooney and Lukaku, right?

emob

They really didn’t. Both deals had little to do with each other. Do you think ManU wouldn’t have signed Lukaku if Rooney didn’t go the other way? ManU was desperate to offload him and his wages.

Martin

Gallas for Cole

The Limp Bar

Draxler is shite anyway. No backbone that guy, flat track bully wannabe.

Heavenly Chapecoense

Sell Alexis, get the money in time to buy a replacement. Selling him to PSG August 30thand and saying I have Welbeck à la Wenger will not be good.

PFo

Yep.

Atom

The Alexis stuff is already getting old. We should keep working on the Lemar deal & a new starter quality CM. Then if PSG comes in with a great bid – then fine. If not we have a stronger squad and keeping him will make us stronger. With his style and his nonstop playing thanks to always playing for Chile and the fact they play some tournament literally every summer, it just seems his legs will likely give out in the next few years. I just can’t see the wisdom in paying him what he wants (Bayern publically confirmed his… Read more »

Ted E.

Exactly right. Although I am sure the club is doing that already (working on Lemar & CM).

PFo

I’m not so sure about the CM. It’s been eerily quiet on that front for basically the whole summer. That’s why getting Rabiot in a swap deal for Alexis would be brilliant.
I know it’s not going to happen, but a summer where we lost Alexis but gained Lemar, Rabiot, Lacazette, and Kolasinac would have to be considered a brilliant window. And purely in terms of finances, it’s not as crazy as it sounds.
But it’s more likely no one else but youngsters/unknowns will come in and we’ll sell Alexis on August 31st…

Atom

I kind of suspect that Wenger is trying to pitch the OX to stay with the idea that he’ll be first choice backup at CM. I know a lot of people love the guy but I just don’t see him as close to a starter quality in that position – maybe someday but certainly not now.

Gutbukkit Deffrolla

If Wenger tells the world we’re desperate for a new CM then the prices we get quoted triple instantly, and the wages would probably be higher too. He should buy a CM in stealth mode. We may have money to spend now, but the more we pay a player the harder it is to sell him when we’re done with him. That and the sudden realisation by TV companies that football doesn’t make the world their oyster is going to kill teams in the not too distant future. We need to ensure we can ride out the crash.

BringSeamanBack

Surely, if true, that is the very definition of tapping up

Savage

Does tapping up include talking to the agent?

Gooneron

the agent represents the player so yes it does.

A different George

As far as I can tell, FIFA regulations allow a club to negotiate with a player under contract if they inform his club in writing; it does not appear that the player’s club can say no (obviously, it can’t sign a contract with that player without his team’s consent). It is possible that the FA (and/or the Premier League/Football League) have stricter regulations, which is why Liverpool had to back off on Van Dijk. Perhaps someone could actually find out about this and post it: can Monaco actually prevent anyone from talking to Mbappe if they are informed in writing?… Read more »

Atom

FIFA regulations require the interested club to get permission to speak to the player – they can’t just notify the club that they are going to talk to Alexis. Arsenal has to say they can. Otherwise you can be handed a transfer ban.

http://www.inbrief.co.uk/football-law/football-player-under-contract-approach-clubs/

A different George

Thanks for posting this, but that is not what FIFA’s regulation 18.3, which Monaco referenced concerning Mbappe, actually says. It uses the word “inform;” it does say anything about consent (link below). So, I am still in the dark.

https://resources.fifa.com/mm/document/affederation/administration/02/70/95/52/regulationsonthestatusandtransferofplayersjune2016_e_neutral.pdf

A different George

Ok, through the magic of the Internet, we have an answer: It is the Premier League’s rules (specifically Rule K) that requires prior written consent for a club to approach a player under contract (Rule K.1.2) or for a player or his agent to approach another club (Rule K.6).

So, these rules don’t bind PSG (or Barca) andf the FUFA rules only require notice, not consent. Maybe there are relevant rules in Ligue 1 or La Liga.

A different George

FIFA (though FUFA sounds better),

Atom

@ a different George – you’re missing the second half of the regulation which is the key.

A professional shall only be free to conclude a contract with another club if his contract with his present club has expired or is due to expire within six months. Any breach of this provision shall be subject to appropriate sanctions.

Gutbukkit Deffrolla

Doesn’t stop you agreeing terms in principle that might affect the loyalty of the player towards his current club. The Premier League rule prevents a club from unsettling a player by promising him some specific rate of pay “for later”.

Gutbukkit Deffrolla

Fucked Up Football Association. Yes, this works better than FIFA.

Tom Gun

We did literally exactly the same thing with Mbappé so it would be a little hypocritical, to say the least, to moan about it.

Sean

I believe Arsène received permission to talk to Mbappé ?

Antony Adler

wrong.

goonerjon

says who?

Stuck on repeat...

Donald? Is that you?

Andy Mack

This is my guess, but it is just a guess!
I don’t think we discussed terms with Mbappe.
It was more a case of ‘If you decide you want a move then please keep us informed because we’d like to have you in our team’.

AW is still highly regarded by many young French players (and the majority of people that know anything about football) so I’d expect Mbappe to want to discuss football with him, even if he decided he doesn’t want a move.

Mein Bergkampf

Something about glass houses… Wasn’t Wenger round Mbappe’s gaff for a cup of tea and slice of battenburg?

Rossi88

AW spoke to Mbappe at the beginning of LAST season, when he was in last 6 months of his contract, and the Fifa law states he’s free to talk to clubs. But he stayed with Monaco. Since then i think it’s pretty obvious to the player and club that we are interested in him. So no, we didn’t so wrong.

A different George

In fact, in the last six months, a player can SIGN a new contract, not just negotiate:

“A club intending to conclude a contract with a professional must inform the player’s current club in writing before entering into negotiations with him. A professional shall only be free to conclude a contract with another club if his contract with his present club has expired or is due to expire within six months.”

Rossi88

Pretty obvious first statement there. But we didn’t conclude a contract did we? Just tea and some Vienesse wheels I reckon….yum!

Gutbukkit Deffrolla

If Man City and PSG get charged then this is obviously going to be the defence that gets them off….

“Yes, we talked to him, but only to wind him up and unsettle him. We never intended to conclude a contract with him.”

Mein Bergkampf

Alright, alright… Maybe it was a toasted teacake.

emob

Forget that notion of tapping up and punishing clubs for it. It’s very easy to get around this, that’s what intermediaries and agents are for, they’re free to negotiate, no one of PSG has probably talked to Alexis directly.

eternalflamini

If they value Sanchez at £45m, then add another £40m in potential loss of champions league revenues, and then we’re talking. And plus £3 for postage costs…

Sean

And an extra £3 postage each for Atom and Humber ?

I Didn\'t See It

You forgot the obligatory one pound…

Gutbukkit Deffrolla

That won’t work because we aren’t in the Champions League, and we don’t have any contract with him for the following season when with any luck we might be in the Champions League again.

Liam

The thought of him waltzing off to City for free in a years time is abhorrent.

Tapps

Agreed – but seeing us willingly sell him to Man Shitty for about half of his value this season is a worse prospect! If he’s desperate to move (for Champion’s League or an enormous salary), we should set the conditions. We won’t sell him to a direct rival. And bidding starts at £80million. Otherwise, we keep him until the end of his contract – when he’ll be nearly 30 and Mustafi will be given the job snapping his Achilles in the last training session.

Sean

Gabriel surely? It seems that man would do anything for the club.

Pete

Ah that’s why he’s staying…

A different George

Gabriel on crutches, hopping around and taking selfies after the FA Cup final, makes him a serious “I love my club more than anyone” contender.

Original Paul

I like Gabs.
🙂

Rossi88

Id take him there personally, if it meant a title challenge and champs league minimum this season and signing Lemar now. If he doesn’t want to here here then bye. Better players have been before and will come after.

Ulysses 32

Yep, dreary stuff. Every year, way back to Paddy. Every single year.

Caribbean AFC Queen

I know communication is instant nowadays but Alexis “Blodclat” Sanchez agent was in Chile. With whom did the PSG director have this two day meeting with in London as mentioned above.
Sanchez took his girlfriend to meet his Mother.✔
PS I don’t mind Sanchez leaving to PSG, but we need a goalscorer replacement

bendtnerschristmastree

I’d say £60 mil is acceptable. We lose a great player, but get plenty of time (and money) to replace him. Maybe replace is the wrong word, we can’t replace him right off. But I think if we sell him and buy Lemar there shouldn’t be any setbacks for the team morale and Lemar can possibly turn into a great player.

And I really got this feeling Iwobi will breakout for real and have one hell of a season should we sell Alexis.

baz00r

Who do we replace him with? Monaco don’t want to sell Lemar or Mbappe, is Mahrez a like for like replacement? I think not. Bringing in Laca and then selling Sanchez and replacing him with a lesser player is like treading water.

PFo

Yep. Treading water after a season in which we finished 5th.

60m is not enough, unless we know we’ve already lined up a suitable replacement (and even then, we still probably need to spend more to improve our squad in other areas).

Go For It

Totally agree with Baz00r. Keep ALL our top players, even the ones in the last year of their contracts, and go all out for the Premier League title this season. I think we have the squad to win it. If we sell our outstanding player right now, then — unless we bring in another left winger who’s so good that he can replace Alexis’ quality immediately (extremely unlikely) — we’re right back in our old “rebuilding-after-a-star-leaves” mode again. We’re not a feeder club for the likes of PSG anymore. Keep Alexis and Ozil and Ox and Chambers really go the… Read more »

David Hillier\'s luggage

Sounds a lot like tapping up to me, we dare not report them given PS G are probably the club we’d moat like to sell him to. That being said, do agents or players still get punished for illegal approaches? Wasn’t Cashley given a fine? Punishments have got far more severe generally over the last decade, be hilarious if he were to move on a free next year but was given a one year ban for tapping up. They gave Eboue a one year ban for not playing one of those leeches, so FIFA aren’t afraid of over the top… Read more »

emob

No, forget this notion of punishment for tapping up. You have intermediaries that are free to talk to anyone, that’s what your agent is for. Only the dumbest e.g. Liverpool go so far as toleave themselves open to be punished. His gant can talk to PSG all day long, it doesn’t really matter if a director of PSG has talked to Alexis directly in the end.

Stikkman

75 million + rabiot + 2 cartons of those expensive sounding wines + some cheese etc and replacements for atom and humber (along with expensive french dog food) would be my asking price for Alexis. Otherwise, they can fuck off.

Godfrey Twatsloch

Ching, ching – bye bye!

Godfrey Twatsloch

I know but seriously, Sanchez displays all the traits of not wanting to be here and is likely to be gone sooner or later. Should we prepare for life without him now or later? Now means at least some money but less time to find a replacement. Next season we might have, MIGHT, have a replacement but get nothing when he goes elsewhere with a worst case scenario of him going to Cuntski et al. As great a player as he is there’s something unsavoury about having people around who don’t appreciate what they have and are constantly looking at… Read more »

tadumtss

Naaaah. Alexis is in Chile, Wenger in China. So the whole story is just made up. PSG are after Neymar anyway.

A different George

For 220 million euros! Of course, those stories might be made up too.

PFo

If L’Equipe and GFFN report it, it’s unlikely to be entirely made up. But if we’re determined not to sell, then the story is irrelevant.

Chair

45 mil? They paid 50 mil for fucking David Luiz years ago. They can fuck right off.

Tim

I’d take the money and run. It’s £45m for 11 months of a contract.. and it basically ensures Man City won’t have Alexis in his best years.

Watching him leave on a Bosman to City next year would be so sore.

Gutbukkit Deffrolla

Unless the deal is a joint move by PSG to get him cheap from us for a season and then move him to Citeh next year with a player going the other way. Its exactly the way rich fuckers work together in order to keep uppity poor fuckers from getting ideas above their station.

Spanish Gooner

Well Sanchez is in Chile and Arsène and Gazidis are in China, so who exactly are they in London talking to?

Me

We’re in a really fucked up position; there’s literally no way for us to win. First, Sanchez delays contract talks until now, then he has unrealistic demands. If we keep him, he goes to city next year, which means that to prevent him from going to a rival, we have to sell. PSG know this, and it means we won’t get a fair price for him in the current market, because they know we don’t want him to go to a rival. It’s a clusterfuck, I don’t think we can blame Wenger or the board though, because they conducted themselves… Read more »

GunnerDareMKD

PSG also knows that if the don’t up their offer close to 70 mil pound we will are not going to sale and they will lose him to city next year so the only chance for PSG to sign him is this summer with a really good offer.

Pete

Interesting how the Qataris are still spending money like water when they are neck-deep in problems back home…

A different George

They are spending money like it was natural gas. Water is too expensive.

Me

That’s actually a good point lmao
I guess it’s just about who waits longest without budging

John C

You were right up until you relieved Wenger and the club of blame, they are to blame, had we a competitive team he would have signed a year ago

Gutbukkit Deffrolla

If we keep him he will work his socks off for the season to keep himelf in the shop window. That will allow him to accept a bumper payday when he moves because his new club won’t have to pay a fee for him so he can negotiate bigger wages from them. Wenger’s decision is whether we can make back the money we could have sold him for this season by using him for one last season alongside Lacazette and any other top players we might entice into joining us this summer. Winning the PL or Europa League and qualifying… Read more »

Wenger has said he is not for sale, but if PSG are speaking to Alexis then isn’t that tapping up? Unless we have given permission and are actually open to selling him?

Gooneron

He may still be an Arsenal player, but to be frank, am tired of Alexis and the drama that is accompanying him

crazy gunner

Keep him sign Lemar or Mahrez sign Goretzka lets truly challenge for the EPL simples…This is the season where Wenger has to throw caution to the wind and go for the EPL..

If we don’t get the EPL we will finish in top 4 and regroup and still be able to attract top players..

tiny

I actually hope we sell on the proviso that we spend the £££.

Sanchez’ great season stats wise coincides with our worst finishing position for 20 years. It reminds me a little of where we went as club from 93 to 95. We became very / over reliant on Wrighty to the point that we became predictable.

He’s played more games over a longer time frame with us than any other club in his career. He’s the kind of guy that will move around every couple of years. Thats football Im afraid.

tiny

Sell Sanchez, keep Giroud – he’ll get plenty of game-time. Im assuming no-one will come in for Theo but sell if they do. Make sure we get Lemar and ANOther in central midfield and throw enough cash to ensure Oil and Ox re-sign.

PFo

Yep. All of this (though we should really concentrate on re-signing Ozil rather than some guy named Oil).

But if we’re not going to do all of that (bringing in those new players, re-signing those other ones), then we should keep Alexis. Either of those two routes is acceptable (provided we sell to PSG and not City). Any other decision we make will be unacceptable.

Kunle Akintayo

bullshit story

Steinn

If we can get over 60 millions from PSG and reinvest that in Lemar and a midfielder, then I’m satisfied.

A quick calculation reveals that we might get up to 70 millions from selling “dead wood” (Szczesny 10, Chambers 20, Gibbs 10, Wilshere 10, Perez 12, Jenk 5, Debuchy free – not counting Campbell, Akpom). Now that is substantially more than we have payed for Lacazette + Kolasinac, so also selling Alexis should leave us just above the zero line even if we add two first team players.

Godfrey Twatsloch

The only thing I disagree with is Chambers as dead wood. I believe he has something to offer us for the future which is why he was bought at some cost in the first place.

Steinn

I don’t disagree with you (although I prefer Holding) but Wenger seems to see him as surplus to requirements so selling him would be in the same category as Szczesny et al.

Christopher Wreh

If they come in with £60 million quid for him, a year left on his contract, you’ve got to say that’s decent business. I don’t feel sick at the thought of him playing abroad next season, he won’t directly affect us week in, week out. The one thing we cannot do is sell him to a rival. The knock on effects will be too great, a massive PR blunder by the club. The fans will revolt and does that inspire top talents around the world to come to us? If he does walk next year and go to Pep or… Read more »

Can’t find it. Removed from the site? At the same time, L’Equipe reports on Barça multiple media stories that Neymar is done “95%”

https://www.lequipe.fr/Football/Actualites/Neymar-a-95-au-psg/819724

Who is the stalking horse of whom?

Wolf

Exactly. In fact, German media said this morning that because of the Neymar deal, Draxler might feel that his position is under threat and think about moving on. The usual ‘transfer dominoes’, as they call it.

PFo

Guarantee Neymar’s staying at Barca with a fat bump in pay. So Draxler’s staying at PSG (they just signed in him January for crying out loud, and he’s beginning to look like he’s going to fulfill his potential and become a big star). And PSG will push for Alexis because they want a marquee attacking signing and can’t get Neymar. So our best shot is to push them to give us cash plus one of their quality midfielders. But I’m guessing if he goes it will be for straight up cash, and probably for 60m max, with some of that… Read more »

Malaysian Gunners

Just let him go,

shokim

£45m? What the hell!? Not in this current climate, for sure!

Yavor

Get Lemar and than swap Sanchez for Veratti. We should be just fine.

PFo

That’d be a lovely piece of business, but Veratti won’t be interested in joining us, and PSG will know they can get more for him from Barca than we are likely to get for Alexis.

Loose_Cannon

Hang on, weren’t PSG meant to be signing Aubameyang and then Neymar?

B B

Maybe he was on a customer care visit for David Luiz. Warranty salesmen are always after add ons.

Andy Mack

Personally I think AW meant we won’t sell Alexis to a PL team (and there aren’t many non PL teams that both want him and can afford him), so we’ll probably keep him for the season.

ArcticMarty

Draxler and 50 Million, Or else fuck off.

Rook

There are reports linking Ross Barkley to Arsenal. I don’t know what to think on that. Is he the central midfielder everyone can clearly see we need or just speculations.

jwone

And Sky Sports reports that Barca has offered Rafinha to Arsenal for 30M.

London

That’s a strange one. Why would they offer us anyone. I could have sworn we don’t have a good relationship with them

J Dizzle

Probably something to do with a young Catalan right-back on our books that they have their eyes on…

jwone

Though whose fault is it they keep buying our ‘day-old’ players.
IMO the whole Bellerin thing was Spanish-press-generated.

Andy Mack

They’d love to get Bellerin back but they want him really cheap.
They feel it reflects poorly on them to buy back a player they had before, at his real market value. When he should feel honoured that they want him at all so he should force the price down himself… (like Cesc did).

shokim

But Cesc will tell you it was not a dream return.

Andy Mack

I guess that’s just Karma for him going ‘On-strike’ to get the move in the first place.

PFo

I like Rafinha a lot. If it’s not linked to Bellerin, then I’m all for this one (though I bet we could get him for a bit less than that, which would make it genuinely brilliant business).

Almond

There are reports linking Ross Barkley to Arsenal. I don’t know what to think on that. Is he the central midfielder everyone can clearly see we need or just speculations.

Shitbird82

Poooôoö

Kentun

I don’t understand any Arsenal fan who is happy to let Alexis go. This is exactly how transfer window coverage has destroy our mind.

bdagooner

Because for many it is Arsene before Arsenal…

They feel that Alexis is disrespecting Arsene and thus he is now enemy number one despite him being our leading goal scorer last season. Just imagine where we would’ve finished without his contributions.

Andy Mack

I don’t think that’s the case at all…
I think it’s more about ‘If he doesn’t want us then we don’t want him’…

bdagooner

Can you blame him?

We have no ambition at the moment and it doesn’t help to eradicate that view when Wenger comes out and says basically we won’t need more signings and that there is more to football than just trophies.

Andy Mack

I’m pretty sure I heard Wenger specifically say he is open to further signings….
Only a complete dick of a manager gets this far into the window and tells the world ‘we need more signings’ because then every club put their prices up…

Andy Mack

Plus when you’ve a full squad you don’t want clubs buying your excess players to know that you need to get rid of them to make space (or they’ll make silly low offers).

GunnerYY

I think we’ll get Lemar despite Sanchez stay or not, so who is gonna replace Sanchez?
Pay 100 Mill for Dembele BVB, i think that’s the best replacement for Sanchez.

Joseph

Men Alexis!!!your giving the Gunner’s a hard time bro…. Yeah we loved you,in and outside the pitch we adored your presence we thus but now you need to open your ♥ to us.Rumour has it arsenal still needs your professionality but do you really need them as they do??

Byo

Does anyone enjoy the Neymar transfer saga between Barca and PSG?
And their inability to bully Arsenal/ Bellerin, and PSG/ Veratti?
It looks like they are not the big bad bully they thought they were.

Ricardo

Not sure he wants to leave England or London specifically.

Tiemue Bakayoko had ‘always dreamed of wearing the Arsenal jersey’. We are short at the back yet we didn’t attempt to hijack his move to Chelshit. Why?

not so fed up

Get lemar and another midfielder and THEN consider the PSG offer

kas

As it stands right now, Sanchez, OX & Ozil can all walk away at the of the season, usual poor situation with Wenger. In the last 10 days Chelski have bought a new spine to the team (Centre back. Centre Mid, Striker) whilst Wenger as usual dithers. Await the yearly excuses etc

Probably the best for Arsenal. We wont’t have the “Alexis to City” rumours for the coming 10 months that could disturb the squad like the contract rumours of Ozil, Alexis and Wenger did last season. I think we can get 50-70 million € for him and should take it if offered. His wage demands are ridiculous and we would surely lose him on a free next summer anyways. We could replace with Lemar +Mahrez/Goretzka, even Dembele from Dortmund with the Alexis money is a reality. We need a strong squad that is not overly dependent on one player who would… Read more »

He’ll be leaving for certain if he stays for this season. It won’t disturb the squad at all. They will know he’ll be leaving and they won’t worry about who he might join. Apart from Giroud, I guess, having him here working out his contract will be better for the squad than having him leave and them having to get used to somebody new.

He will want to keep his profile high so that he can get the best deal possible for himself net summer so he will put in the big effort again this season.

Alex is in Paris supposedly… discuss

He doesn’t speak French. How will he manage to buy croissants?

I think a bold move is required here. Either we stand our ground (I’m not in favor of this as although he will run himself into the ground for us if we are challenging for the title we don’t need the negative press for the second half of the season) or we sell him for £50m to PSG and go buy Dembélé from Dortmund to replace him. It will cost a couple of quid but we are going to recoup the money we have already spent from the sale of players so we will have the cash. It prevents him… Read more »

Don’t think this saga will end until next Summer. How many times is it written that “Personal Terms Have Been Agreed” between a player and a team that are either totally false or if they are true mean nothing as the terms need to be agreed between Team and Team.

Przemek

As Arsenal are not in CL this season, Sanchez could be still sold to a CL club in January. For some money vs nothing next June if he does not extend his Arsenal contract.

santori

Yeah give us Draxler in exchange or Rabiot as a make weight.

Seriously if the offer is around 55-60m and he stays away from City, why not?

We should take the money and get someone like Mahrez and a midfielder who can retain the ball like Santi.

Gooner Sam

If we get good money and replace him with say Aubemang (probably badly spelt) I would be happy. Why not Dembele from Dortmund?

Gutbukkit Deffrolla

….well maybe because we aren’t in the CL this season?
