Alexis Sanchez not in Arsenal squad for Bournemouth

Alexis Sanchez has not travelled with the team today as Arsenal prepare to face Bournemouth in the Premier League.

The Chilean’s future has been in serious doubt over the last few days, with Man City and Man Utd both interested, and with Arsene Wenger admitting he’s ready to sell the 29 year old forward.

Danny Welbeck is set to be given the nod again as the Gunners look for three important points, but now it’s a matter of where Sanchez is going, not if he’s going.

Most of the Arsenal based journalists, including John Cross of the Mirror and David Hytner of the Guardian are saying that United look favourites for his signature.

That would seriously annoying, but perhaps there’s something to be read into the fact all of them have basically the same info. It depends where that info is coming from.

Would Arsenal putting out the possibility of a sale to United then make his departure to City more palatable? Perhaps that’s a stretch, but it’s also hard to see Arsene Wenger sanction a sale to Jose Mourinho.

Either way, it looks like we’ve seen the last of Alexis in an Arsenal shirt, so let’s hope we have enough to cope without him today, and we bring in someone who can make the kind of impact we need.

Good-bye alexis…u were a true servant and tried hard to raise our club’s level.Thankyou for all the goals and will never forget your debut at emirates cup after world-cup 2014.We were lucky to have you and hope you win all the accolodates that your career deserves.

We will be just fine without sanchez, coyg.:

Cygan\'s+Magical+Left+Foot

We will be just fine, we already have a ready replacement in Theo. Lazy, lazy work again from Mr Wenger.

Arsene IS the problem.

Daft Aider

Arsene and the delusions of too many fans that it’s Arsene FC

twisted cuntloks

Clearly something is about to happen. No Forest, sub Chelsea, no B’mouth.
He has been a great player for us and deserves respect but he has been let down imo by Wenger who hasn’t built a world class squad round him.
Sanchez has probably been disillusioned for some time due to us becoming the farce we see today.

Diarra

One could live with him going to United if we get a player from them in exchange. If not, why not sell him to City? Is he asking too much in wages? 300-400k/week reported in the media which is quite crazy even for him.

Deano

It is quite ridiculous, but if you factor in a replacement at around £70million that will be on around 150k a week the difference is not all that vast.

Diarra

Yeah agree. though having one player on 400k and the rest of the squad under 150 k wouldn’t really work here, he is not that important. Don’t think he would have signed for us for any money tbf. Might be good for the dressing room spirit that he leaves too, tired of seeing him criticise teammates after every misplaced pass, and then lose the ball 30+ times himself.

Brandon

Well said, never seen a player for Arsenal give away the ball so many times, puts a lot of pressure on are weak defence to try and defend and get the ball back.

Red-Wing

That’s why I’d like to see him go to United, if we really get to get Mkhitaryan. I don’t rate him anywhere near as much as Alexis, but in this case we would at least have a straight replacement who has proven himself in the past (although not in PL, though I believe this has got more to do with Mourinho than PL as such) without having to spend a penny.

If not, then I’d absolutely prefer him to go to City.

Diarra

Yeah true, Mkhitaryan was pretty much on the same level with Alexis before joined United. He is more a Wenger player than Mourinho so this could actually work. We could go back playing with speed and counter as we did a few seasons ago, as Dortmund did when he was there. Alexis usually just slows us down.

Zakgooner

He will strengthen united more than city, city already have the league, send him to city!

215Arse

Does it matter? We’re miles away from both of those squads.

Eric Blair

Closer to utd. Plus, Mourinho….

Stefan Granlund

We move on. We always have. Can we still keep the “Good Boys”-banner at the Emirates? Wherever he goes, still love those dogs though 🙂

Twatsloch

Can’t blame the pets for their master being a filthy Man U player in waiting.

Superanderslimpar

Far from ideal, but the idea that the people at our football club do anything for footballing reasons is too much of a far fetched notion.

If it’s true, also reflects poorly on the player I think. All that love-in with Pep bollocks…

With Walcott gone(?) as well, that’s c50 goals from last season out of the window. Replacing them with a 20 year old from Bordeaux feels like we are giving up the season. From the position we are in as we sit here this morning, that’s frankly scandalous….

goongot

Well our season was gone anyways with them in the team.So its good to cash in on players and make some room for new players

Flashmob

Agreed! But I think the real question is did we just give up this single season or did we already give up the plan that we will be able to fight (with real chance) for the title in coming years?

Sooner or later we should face our board/CEO/owner with this question!

Xstopper

I kinda liked that 20yr kid tbh
Though he lacks experience and can’t be called as a direct replacement for alexis
But he’s just 20
He’s got everything to learn and prove
As far as players leaving the club is concerned
We are Arsenal
No one knows it better than us
#TogetherGunners

Kelvim

Maybe Malcolm is a replacement for Walcott rather than Alexis?

Easy tiger

Humor at its best. Get your coat!!!!?

Tasmanian Jesus

We need at least 2 forwards, this transfer window.
Getting both Lemar and Malcom would be good, one for each side of the attack.
Could be Draxler or Mickterryjan too

OdalGooner

Can we stop this Football Manager talk? Why would any of them want to come? Even if our situation was top notch and we weren’t a mess, no one of that magnitude is coming to a club that might juuust make it to the Europa League.
Reality check please.

Jack4343

I think we were searching for a way to replace 50 goals even with him staying. His form has been nowhere near his past couple of years.

Uhtred

We all knew this was coming and we will be fine…really hope ozil stays though.. losing both would hurt. Alexis is one player, we are the arsenal

Puff Puff

Dammit this means more of seeing Iwobi play

GeorgeTheNairobiGunner

I am 100 percent ok with Sanchez leaving. Players leave, it happens. But to united? Why? What sort of sick twisted joke is this? who at Arsenal would sanction such a move? If money is our issue why did we just not sell him in August when we could have had a better deal? This is really disrespectful to the fans by Arsenal.

Goonerink

Also wtf is 5 Mill to us these days

Ian Wright -

Totally agree. I will be physically sick for this to happen. Wenger is giving more ammunition to Mourinho to spout off his usual nonsense in future about him and Arsenal.

To add – which other top team would sell they’re main striker, in January to another team in the same league who they consider rival’s?

If it truelly is a money decision, should of sold him before the season began.

Raaja

Good Bye and Thanks for the memories..

Drew Dewsall

Goodbye and truthfully thank fuck, so bored of when will he be going that the sooner he’s gone the better. Let’s hope the rumours of Draxler are true, I’ve wanted us to sign that bot for years.

Michael Bolton Wanderers

What’s really sad in this situation is that we probably won’t replace him this transfer window.

A Gorilla

Some defensive solidity to return to the team

Diarra

Agree 100%, we saw that already against Chelsea.

Faisal Narrage

We were shit defensively before him, we’ll be shit after him.

He’s not the cause of your defensive flaws.

Uhtred

Doesn’t help that he gave the ball away 1000 times a game though. Quality player but we’ve had better and will see better again

Diarra

We were actually quite solid defensively for a period when Koscielny and Mertesacker were still in their peak years.

Jijo

Glad it is finally coming to an end. Should have sold him before start of the season. Thinking about he becoming Mouthinho’s ‘favorite’ and Mou elevating his career like he did for Mkhitaryan!

Ashburton Grove

I was all for keeping Sanchez at the start of the season out of a sort of principle, knew it meant taking a huge hit in finances but on the footballing side he was too important a player without a proper replacement. Going to City is one thing, the league is over and their a level above the rest of us but the thought of him going to Utd and that manager is alarming. I’m seriously worried about the rest of this season now as Sanchez is the only real spark we have in the side.

Petits Handbag

Worked out the last time we sold United a player. How can Wenger try explain his way out of this, his acceptance of mediocrity needs to stop. Who can replace Alexis??

K9ine

Would be happy to see him go to manure so he doesn’t have to gloat about a premiere league medal at the end of the season. And probably won’t win it with Maureen there.
Time for complete restructuring, we came fifth with him and are currently 6th with him.
Can’t do worse, given up on the season already so bye Alexis, enjoyed some moments, tore my hair out in some, players come, players go, none will hurt quite like van pussy.
Wenger pls give him to Maureen to earn any medal

Faisal Narrage

“but it’s also hard to see Arsene Wenger sanction a sale to Jose Mourinho.”

We said the same thing about a sale to Ferguson not that long ago.

pedro

Mourinho will spend a fortune getting Sanchez and Ozil into his bus to spite Wenger. Ball’s in his cunty court unfortunately. I’d be devastated to see Ozil join United, Sanchez is a bit of a prick but I like Ozil.

Glocken

When we lost Van Perise is was due to still not having the resources & the repayments on the stadium. Now, we have money & still can’t keep our best players & they are still going to United? Why? It’s due to Arsene Wenger & our competency spineless board. The players dont believe in the Manager, if they did Ozil & Alexis and all the others would have been signed up ages ago. Our board utterly refuse to move into modern times & still prop up a stale past it manager who has let modern football pass him by. You… Read more »

Vonnie

If he goes to united he’ll end up having a huge bust up with moanino which would be entertaining, if he goes to Pep the same will happen, it depends if he wants the money or the medal. Either way I’ll be glad he’s gone, I’m sick of this saga already and I’m sure we can replace him with someone who wants to be here.

Comedian

Sell him to city. He has been immense for us. Its the mamangements fault not players like sanchez and ozil for being quality and needing a move away from such a badly run club. United are cunts i dont want to see him there , they will ruin him.
Sanchez i hope he has sense and doesnt say yes to united.

AusDrexler

Well thats it then. He is gooooooooooooòooooooone.

Ayleym

Loved Alexis, one of our greatest players. Will be sad to see him leave but If the rumours of us asking for martial in return are true… and actually happens (unlikely as it is). And we push for another 1 or 2 quality signings. Could actually work out alright

Martial Lacazette Malcom/Lemar.

Trying my best to remain positive!

Drew Dewsall

Would love Martial, I think there is a real Henry-esq played in there and he’s being ruined by United. I doubt it will happen though.

Why not

Im not one for hyporbole but…….he can fuck right off. Yes he bought goals and assists, but also petulance and giveaways in abundance. I truly believe he has had a big hand in a dysfunctional team. The anti-leader, the cunty kid on the playground that takes the ball home when he gets nutmeg. We will miss his goals, but we wont miss him.

Cliff Bastin

This is an ideal situation.

GoonerSte

I hope if it’s to United the rumours are true, 25mil plus a player of mkhitaryan quality wpuld be a very good deal for a 29 year old who from what iv seen over the last 6 months quality has dropped

Hi-brid

I couldn’t really care less where he’s going, to be honest, just hope that the fact it seems to be happening relatively early in the window means that we do have a concrete plan in place for a replacement (I know, I know..)

Spanish Gooner

£25m + mkhitarian is a good deal. The Armenian will be a huge increase in the technical quality for the side, will create more chances for Lacazette and will take the spotlight off Malcolm as the only Alexis replacement. I know it’s, united, I know it’s Mourinho but I think we should be thinking about maximising the benefits to Arsenal rather than reducing the benefits to the club he joins

Diarra

Huge upgrade on Iwobi at least.

Glenlaup

If we sell to United that could possibly increase our chance of keeping Ozil. Maurinho is less likely to buy both.

allezkev

I’ll be sorry to see him leave, he’s given us some great moments, but that’s football and if and when we sign Malcom and if he does the business then we’ll soon move on.
Personally I’m not too fussed as to where he goes, I would have preferred PSG or Bayern or anyone outside England but there ya go.
I think the whole saga should and could have been handled better by our management and Alexis isn’t to blame for that.

swl gunner

SMH fans making excuses for potentially losing our best player to two teams that are currently already better than us.

shokim

Bye bye Alexis. Thanks for your services. Your most memorable strike for me was that goal in the FA Cup Final. Hope you finally get a good rest in a football free summer.

Mizog

United is a side ways step, I’m not having it there a lot better than us if at all!! But he will double his money
Fuck him! Better players than him have left arsenal I’m just glad I haven’t got to hear about it every day!

Twatsloch

“Either way, it looks like we’ve seen the last of Alexis in an Arsenal shirt”

Good!

As for him going to Man U or Citeh, who cares? He’s the proverbial girlfriend who’s done a deal with the guy up the road because he has a bigger house and a cooler car than you but is still under your roof while the next guy makes preparations. A real man won’t care how or where the ex goes as long as she goes pronto.

If the peanuts are slightly better then let Mourinho have him. Why the fuck should we care?

Gooneron

I prefer he goes to United if that means getting Mkhitaryan as a replacement in addition to Malcolm in the Middle. Sending him to City much strengthens City for the coming season and to be frank can we really compete with/against them with Sanches there? Better he goes to United who’s game set up is not a shoe in as compared to City’s

eternalflamini

100%
Dortmund is my second team because of a couple of years spent travelling to that city and I can tell you miki is an outstanding player and moron not rating him doesn’t mean shit.
If we have to lose Sanchez let’s get a top player in in exchange.

Kinghenrythe14th

An “IDEAL” situation Arsene, right?

*weeps*

Roniekez

He has been a good player but if he resisted o go let wenger sell him instead of loosing him on free transfer

Damobot

Disgusting !!!
