Arsene Wenger is hopeful that Aaron Ramsey can prove his fitness ahead of Sunday’s Carabao Cup final after the midfielder returned to full training today.
It’s too early for him to be involved against Östersunds FK tomorrow night, but the Arsenal manager is hopeful a man who likes a Wembley final can make it for the weekend.
The Welshman scored the winner in two FA Cup finals – against Hull in 2014 and Chelsea 2017 – and his goalscoring prowess could be very useful against Man City.
Speaking earlier today, Wenger said, “We will see how his evolution goes today until Sunday. I don’t rule him out yet.
“It depends how well he can improve the intensity of training until Sunday.
“Ideally, you want to have the choice, but our job is about adaptation. Very rarely in your life you’re in an ideal situation where you have the luxury to choose from all the players in the squad.
“We will adapt, ideally we’d like him to be available, but we’ll see.”
Sometimes a player has a knack for scoring in big games, and Ramsey seems to have that. Even as an option from the bench we’re keeping fingers crossed he makes it.
Would be great to have him playing or on the bench at least, we could do with another hat-trick or a winning goal in a cup.
I was hoping for six now that he’s done the hatrick already but I’ll manage my expectations and settle for just a hatrick.

Xhaka.. Seriously!!! I would rather we play with only 10 players in the field if Xhaka is the 11s player
Xhaka is an expensive Sanogo..
Regardless of what you think of him Xhaka will be starting on Sunday (Arsene has played him all season so he’s hardly going to change now) so why bother speculate on a team selection that doesn’t include him.
