According to the Mirror, Hector Bellerin will miss Thursday’s Europa League last-sixteen first leg clash with AC Milan because he needs treatment on a knee injury.
The Spaniard was left out of Sunday’s starting lineup at Brighton with a view to being fresh for tomorrow’s game, however, the medical team have decided he’s not fit enough.
The report by John Cross claims that the right-back has been playing with the problem for a few weeks and that suggestions Bellerin was angry at Arsene Wenger for benching him at the weekend are wrong.
We can only assume that Calum Chambers will be given the nod at the San Siro in his place. Arsene Wenger is due to face the press this evening and will likely have an update on the situation.
Oh, It just keeps on getting better!
I hear Debuchy has been getting rave reviews in France since his move. Ah well, I’m sure Calum will do just fine…
Debuchy was on the “Who Scored” heavily stats-based team of the week in Ligue Un. Also, Francis Coquelin was on the La Liga TOTW. (Also Mustafi is one on of the highest-rated centre halfs in the Prem for the entire season, so some Arsenal supporters may wonder at their methods.)
Players used to leave us and instantly become shit. Now they leave us and somehow they appear to be blossoming. Weird.
Jury still out on Sanchez though.
Is that really true about Mustafi ? Jesus. If ever more proof was needed (& it wasn’t) that relying on stats alone to judge a player was a waste of time then that is it.
AMN at RB for me all day long.
This. Going for Chambers over AMN in there seems crazy to me, so I’m sure that’s what we’ll do.
Chambers is complete pants.
So so slow over the first few yards, would prefer to see Niles given an opportunity
if wenger gives chancr to chambers then it woulbe be beyond me. Amn is more suited to that position than chambers ever will. In fact he should have been given chance lot sooner by atleast rotating with bellerin.
Great, one of the few players who actually looks like he gives a damn on the pitch is now injured. Is Sol Campbell still available?
It would be insane to run Calum out there again ahead of Maitland-Niles. Pace, physicality, dribbling – it’s no contest.
But we live in a hellscape now, so making sense of anything Arsene does is pointless.
also away from home.at san siro.whatever callum is he is at least more defensively secured.i dont think we need to worry about attacking contributions from fb at milan.in terms of expcallum will surely be the suitable one.no niles for me.
Has to be AMN at right back surely.
Agreed, I would rather have his pace there then Chambers, who generally looks much more comfortable in the middle of defense rather then out wide
Ideal!
Charles Watts was saying Bellerin trained today. https://www.football.london/arsenal-fc/fixtures-results/arsenal-vs-milan-europa-league-14378974
He said WATT??
That he was only left out to recharge his batteries.
I see what you did there. He does have electric pace though. Currently.
*Brandishes red card for dissent*
Not sure how much to read into it but Hector is in today’s training session pictures: https://www.gettyimages.co.uk/license/928496024
hmmm….
I so wished we sold that guy Chambers or whatever he calls himself…
He calls himself Calum Chambers, because that’s his name. Jesus, if you’re struggling to remember Chambers, you must be glad Szczesny isn’t here anymore.
He isn’t happy with Aubameyang either. Or Mkhitaryan.
We’ll just call him Rooms if it makes it easier for you Aminu.
Certainly need to go with AMN over Chambers. If he is able to play left back being a right footer player he absolutely could play right back, but of course Wenger will surely opt for Chambers.
More going on than meets the eye? I felt he was poor coming on for dying minutes against Brighton. Got beaten too easily twice by Izqueidiero. In that sense, Chambers did OK albeit clearly not the player we brought in from Soton who impressed for them at Rback. In absence, maybe good to bring AMN in. He is strong and has quick recovery pace which may be useful for us. It seems to make sense to continue his development at fullback rather than circulate him through positions like we did Chambers, and suck out his confidence. Right side is his… Read more »
Can only play who’s available. Chambers is alright. Hopefully he can repeat the goal he scored for us against Burnley, I think it was, and from there go from strength to strength to become the new Cafu.
….*cough*
Fake news…
