Arsene Wenger says Aaron Ramsey brings balance to Arsenal’s midfield because his late runs into the opposition penalty box complement the quick combination football his side aims to play.
Following the January departures of Theo Walcott and Olivier Giroud, the Welshman, with 57 goals in 324 appearances for the Gunners, is currently the highest scorer at the Emirates.
He’s looked particularly dangerous in recent weeks, helping himself to six goals in his last seven games; proof, according to the boss, that the 27-year-old has improved markedly in the final third.
“I believe that a club can give you an identity in your game and can develop you as a personality if you do not change every time,” Wenger told Arsenal.com.
“And because Aaron adjusted to the way that we wanted to play, improved a lot in his composure, in his calmness in front of goal [he has done that].
“He had always in his game that kind of quality, but he could not always finish well – he was not always composed enough on the ball.
“He’s developed with us on that front a lot, so I believe that he took advantage a lot of the way that we want to play the game and I think that he enjoys it.”
He added: “Players like Aaron give us the balance because he goes into the box.
“When you have many creative players who are good on the ball, they all want to come to the ball and distribute the game but they don’t want to go in the box. When we have a creative side, [Aaron] gives us that balance.”
Despite the recent upturn in results – Arsenal have registered six consecutive wins scoring 17 goals in the process – Wenger admits that his side have paid the price for not being efficient enough away from home.
“My dream is to play that kind of football and when it works of course our game is based on quick combinations and quick, sharp movement. When it works you’re very happy, but at the end of the day in our game you have to be efficient.
“When you look since January it’s always three or four at home but away from home we couldn’t transform our game into efficiency enough and that’s basically why we’re so far behind.”

Ramsey is a valuable asset. We should push the boat out to get his contract signed for that reason alone. If he does then leave at least we can secure a decent fee for him.

Well at lead Wenger alluded to a style of play! I think we are finally getting a glimpse of that now too. Ramsey is indeed prospering from it. Didn’t realize he’d made that many appearances for us either.
We’ve also dropped many points away due to our porous defense, but, well..
Rambo’s been with us for 10 years.
I have long thought the broken leg set him back as a goal scorer. He missed so much at an age when he needed to be playing. He is mt favorite arsenal player.
Hopefully Arsene is talking about him on the official website because he is staying.
Hope he does, becomes captain and an Arsenal legend with over 100 goals (and conquered his broken leg playing for us).

We don’t have that guy in the middle of the pitch who can be composed on the ball away and facilitate our free flowing game away from home. Cazorla was that guy and no wonder we were top of the table/went on winning streaks when he was around. A guy like Modric is an ideal replacement for Santi in terms of playing style. Elneny and Granit have flattered to deceive but they do have room for improvement given age. However neither can turn with the ball or hold close control. Jack’s return hinted at a bit of promise as he is adept at driving us forward and turning with the ball at opponents. But he has been flat in recent games. Still we could well do with one more (Relatively experienced) option in midfield. Ramsy has not adjusted to anything. On the contrary, he is deviant to team formation. He trusts in his talents and dares even where strikers have failed. Ramsy can make a Madrid or Barcelona teams. On Auba’ s debut, he may have thought Ramsy was our top striker.

Both Ramsey and Ozil are fairly similar. Ramsey’s better instincts are runs into the box. Ozil in recent season likes to gamble into the box too but of late, he has also dropped deeper to ‘playmake’. I feel for the match against CSKA, we cannot afford to be too defensive. If we sit back and try to soak up CSKA, await for them to open up space behind and for us to exploit their older Cbacks, we may instead find ourselves inviting trouble with pressure on our defense. If Ramsey signs we can feel quite confident about the club’s future with Aubam, Lacazette, Ozil also signed up. Just that manager change and it would be great to get someone who will look after the youth coming through.
