Arsenal finished their season with a resounding 6-1 victory over Bristol City in the West Country on Sunday. But Manchester City’s 3-0 win over Everton meant it wasn’t enough for Champions League qualification. Tim Stillman caught up with Player of the Season and top scorer Beth Mead immediately after the game, exclusively for Arseblog News.
On ending the season with a big victory…..
The girls are over the moon, it’s a nice way to end the season, we played some really good football and took control of the game from early on and we scored some really good goals today too.
On finishing just short of Champions League qualification…..
It’s a bit frustrating, we had a few results this season where we slipped up and that was our fault. That tool it out of our own hands today and Manchester City deserved to finish above us in the end.
On scoring another goal today…..
I missed a few chances before that goal today where my attempts weren’t so great, so it was great to connect with one eventually!
You can't stop these.
Nice, @bmeado9, very nice ?pic.twitter.com/DjeMggJDNk

On the regret of drawing with Yeovil last month……
The Yeovil game is a big regret, because we only finished 1 point behind City in the end and winning that game would have taken us over the line into 2nd place. But there have been other games where we have some regrets if we’re honest.
We drew at home to Bristol earlier this season too, for instance and there have been others. To be honest, we have developed some consistency since Christmas, but we didn’t have it at the start of the season and we were chasing from a long way back and our slow start is probably what has killed us in the end.
On being voted player of the season and finishing as top goalscorer…..
On a completely personal level, I can’t really complain about that, it’s my first full season here and I am very happy with that. It’s on me now to keep on pushing and to keep working hard so I can do better next season.
Many congratulations once again to @ArsenalWFC Supporters Club Player of the Season @bmeado9 who got her hands on her trophy after the 6-1 win at Bristol.
Well done on a great 2017/18 Beth! ????⚪? pic.twitter.com/45YyeY0Tfd

Gahhhh….
Women’s football is..
Quite good. Coyg!
Well done Beth, congratulations, and here’s the Emperors New Trophy.
Results beginning of the season really blew our chances, but always something to improve and the team’s rapport with each other and the manager is really positive.
The coverage from the official sites has to improve though, showcase of goals everywhere and we cannot even see all of them.
I can’t see the award in her hand honestly…..
Congratulations Beth expecting u to raise your bar next season…
COYG
Congratulations to Beth Mead on a fantastic season!
