Barcelona president Sandro Rosell has revealed, yet again, they will not go above their valuation of €40m for Cesc Fabregas.
Speaking to Catlunya’s TV3 he said “I don’t know if Cesc will sign or not. We’ll offer less than €40m and if Arsenal don’t agee, then Cesc will not come. Have no doubt, he has a great desire to come here. We have €45m for signings, plus money from sales. There is no more money”.
With Barcelona set to seal a deal for Udinese’s Alexis Sanchez, taking a big slice of their transfer budget, it seems more and more likely that a deal is beyond their financial means this summer. Even with further sales, and the money due to them from the transfer of Zlatan Ibrahmovic to AC Milan, they seen unwilling to match Arsenal’s reported £50m valuation of their captain.
There’s still plenty of this story to play out but it looks more and more positive for Arsenal who will be delighted to hold onto a player who has created more goals than any other player in the last five years in all top five leagues (courtesy of Opta).

Like I said yesterday,
Lets ask for messi in a swap deal and see how they like it!!!!!
Indeed. They say they won’t pay what is being asked, yet they keep bitching about it to the press.
[…] over Cesc. Basically he’s saying Arsenal accept what’s on offer or Cesc will stay put. Speaking to Catalan TV, he said: I don’t know if Cesc will sign or not. We’ll offer less than €40m and if […]
CUoCO!!
Barca have no class, they cheat on and off the pitch like spoilt kids wanting to get their own way! Well Mr Rosell here’s something from the heart of arsenal….50m or fuck off [edited] … that is all!
Terry, your comment has been edited. It is not acceptable, especially considering the song that opposition fans sing at Arsene Wenger
Is the use of the term “spick” in a posting subsequent to this acceptable, bearing in mind the racist abuse our players have been subject to – particularly from the Spanish in fairly recent years? Kind of sinking to their level it might be said.
Obviously, I can only guess at the edited comment and can’t say I am holier than thou on this subject so won’t push it … but I did wonder.
I can’t speak for every arsenal fan, but I for one am seriously getting tired of this bullshit from barca every summer regarding our players, for the last few seasons it’s been cesc, before that it was Henry & hleb, before that it was overmars & petit, it’s always the fucking same with those spick cunts, for once, jus once, I’d love if man city or Chelski doggedly persued messi, offering ridiculous amounts of money, & saying things to the media to unsettle him & help their deal, things like “when messi comes here he will have a solid gold… Read more »
Barca need to come up with the coin for cesc otherwise they can fuk off. I would be sad to see him go but i think he is the real deal pro footballer. Fabs has served us well and will continue to do so, even if he would really like to play for the supposed ‘best team in the world’.
If Cesc is desperate to go back to Spain, then sell him to Real Madrid and let them fight it out with the cheapskates at Barca.
Great, so another season of “sulky Cesc”, have a captain that doesn’t want to be here, and we’ll do this shit again next year, ad infinitum. Bullshit, I think it’s time to meet in the middle and make this deal which is inevitable.
No. If we can keep him, we should keep him. He’s our best player.
Chill out mate, he loves Arsenal, he never sulks and always gives his all, Tbh i’d be a little bit pissed off if the defenders behind me were ruining my hard work going forwards. I think he wouldnt have a problem staying at Arsenal.
With respect, I’d disagree – the Cesc of two years ago was, the current version is second to RvP. Sad facts of life but in modern football if a star wants to leave…they’re gonna leave. Or be very unhappy. Contracts mean as much as toilet paper.
I don’t think Cesc was sulking, think he never got into real form as he kept getting injuries. He a decent lad, last weeks comments indicated he understood that if barca don’t make an acceptable offer he’s happy to stay. It’s a classic example champagne taste beer money.
Cesc, we all know you love a spot of Arseblog, so I’ve done you a favour and had a butcher’s at some Barca blogs – just to see what the oppo think of all this malarky. Not good mate, I’m afraid. First, none of them think you’re worth what we’re asking, second, they reckon you’ll be a benchwarmer to start with, third, they reckon you’ll stop the youth players coming through and, well presumably, warming the bench and last, some even whisper the ‘Judas’ word for leaving when they were shit, rather than being a good boy and staying to… Read more »
‘How much for the Cesc shirt?’
‘£50 sir.’
‘Err…but I only have £30 and I know that shirt wants to be with me’
‘It’s still £50 sir’
‘It’s got a bit of wear and tear…can I get a discount?’
‘No…that wear and tear is newspaper ink you’ve managed to wipe on it with your dirty fingers since coming in. Please don’t come back unless you really want to buy the shirt’
‘Err’
‘SECURITY!!’
Fab4 is a class act while Bastardlona are classless, inbred gobshites. The Szczesny – Vermaelen – Fabregas – RVP axis is critical to our chances of success. Arsene / Ivan, tell Sandra to do one then get out there and supplement our undoubted skill with some stone-cold ruthless experience and we will dominate for years to come.
COYG!!!!!
Has anyone seen Mission Impossible 3? Why don’t we use the money we get from the sale of denilson, about £12.48, and invest it in one of those micro explosives that you implant in someones brain. We pop up Cescs nose, flog him, then when he walks onto the pitch at a packed nou camp for his home coming, we detonate it. It would be worth taking the life of a talented young boy just to see the look on Sandra Rossells face.
Get Sandra in that board room and give him the look of Lauren. He will run home screaming and that will be the end of it! The next time Puyol, Xavi or any of those other c#nts go on about Cesc and his DNA, send them a picture of the mighty Lauren too. Get them all to sh#t their w#nky little shorts, the c#nts!
If Cesc has such a great desire to move to Barca and is doing everything he can to go there, then how about he makes up the shortfall in the money Barca are offering? It wouldn’t be the first time a sportsman has paid off the team that holds his contract.
I would be glad if he stayed. A player of that caliber can not be valued
The real price of cesc is what it would cost to replace him….. Don’t think there us anyone out there at present so a min £50-60m is bang on. As for cesc sulking, he’s not that type of player… He may like to return home but he would give his all if he was playing over the park. To much talent to sulk.
Why not ask for Villa as a make weight, plus $10-15 million?
In that vein, Arsenal could trade Cesc for Villa and Samba…a world class striker and a top EPL defender. It’s hard to see how this wouldn’t make the team better, plus insure that Nasri stays, sliding inside (where I believe he outperformed Cesc last year).
Who would we do this trade with? FC Blackelona? Barcelackburn rovers?
Oh I see.. by “in that vein” you meant “by doing that.” In any case, Barca surely values Villa at a good 70m while Cesc’s clear deterioration and advanced age means we’d be lucky to get 35
I sincerly hope that the next natural disaster directly hits the nou camp.
No other set of people deserve to be wiped out more than those inbred c*nts.
