Emery feels weight of responsibility ahead of NLD

Unai Emery says he’s excited about the two huge tests facing his Arsenal side this week as they get ready to take on Sp*rs and Manchester United in quick succession.

The Gunners host the north London derby on Sunday afternoon knowing a win will take them level with Mauricio Pochettino’s homeless goblins before travelling to Old Trafford to face misery guts Jose and his band of overpaid elbow merchants.

Having won 10 pieces of silverware in the last five years, Emery knows the importance of delivering the goods when the pressure is cranked up. He says he’s up for the challenges ahead, all the more so because of the bragging rights at stake.

“They are two matches that will give us the chances in the table,” he told Arsenal.com.

“How will we respond against them? For me it’s a very exciting moment as well because I am looking forward to arriving in the big matches.

“For me, it’s a big experience and a big moment. In the title race, I think we are close to the position we want, and Sunday is a good chance for us to continue that.

“Each match for me is very special. The derby is perhaps more special because my responsibility is bigger because of every supporter. Also, we need three points in the league because we want to be closer to the other teams, like Tottenham, and we have this challenge.”

In a separate interview with Sky Sports, the Spaniard also spoke about creating a ‘new history’ as he tackles his first showdown with Sp*rs.

“Each match, like this derby, is different. We want to create a new history – it’s a different moment for Tottenham and for us.

“They are going to play for the first time [against] players with us – the coach and all the staff.

“We want to start playing one derby like that, with a good experience. But above all, in the 90 minutes, we [want to] show everybody a good performance and energy.

“I know from living in Spain and France, different matches like this, and I want to feel this match here with our supporters at the Emirates.

“I know it’s going to have a very big atmosphere for us, and we want to win, first as it’s a derby, but also for the three points because in the table we need to continue in our process.”

Win this and put them where they belong. Beneath us.
Give us back st totteringhams day and become a legend.
That is ur minimum target for the season

Pedant

They seem to be on the up at the moment after a weaker start, so hope the home advantage, desire to stay unbeaten in the current run, the happiness of their fans and the fact Sp*rs are w*nkers will all help our players get a good result.

We have a tough month coming up, so let’s hope that we can start it well, and continue in that vein.

Bournemouth Gooner

I can’t remember the last time sp*rs came to our place with such confidence. We need to go he’ll for leather from the first whistle.
If we can get an early goal, get the atmosphere we did against LFC and put them under pressure then we could and should win this game.
COYG!!!!

Lord Bendnter

He did have a big hand in our FA cup victories. I’m not saying he’s at the same level as the others on that poster, but he’s not a nobody either. I think he deserves to be there

Hantal

Deserves to be there but it’s a really weird time to do that as his contract runs down

Hantal

Out of interest what’s the date on Ramsey’s image?

Hantal

Ah no I see, it’s for specific goals

afan

and well deserved, top man

afan

don’t get sucked in em, just treat it as a normal game

Shank

I can’t tell you how much I love Rose and Fellaini!

Billy Bob

Why?

TeeCee

Are you Robbie Savage in disguise?

Thierry bergkamp

I don’t care how or by what methods, just win these next 2 games.

Richie

Its going to be a tough ask considering we couldn’t put away palace and wolves. But, beat spurs tomorrow and a draw at Old Trafford would be a very decent return, before a win against Huddersfield at home next Saturday.

Badaab

Laughing at the homeless isn’t nice, but I chuckle every time I read ‘homeless goblins.’

TOGooner

Every time I go to take a shit I always check for homeless goblins in toilet bowl. First shite hart lane and now the toilet seat temple that will be their new home… I now know where they like to hide.

Twatsloch

Off topic but Kitson writes about the Ramsey at Stoke incident in the Sun. I know, scummy paper but it’s interesting. Kitson comes across as being ashamed of what happened.

Never Happen

And so he should be.
Pukis is a wanker.

santori

A lot of pressure. Lose and we are 6 points behind them. A draw isn’t entirely good either. We will need to get the balance right on the wide areas. Holding was played midweek so likely we will revert to back 4 with Mustafi and Sokratis. This means Kolasinac will have to find balance. He has struggled NOT bc he is lazy but bc he has been overwhelmed with wide forward (Auba) not providing sufficient support defensively. This was also the case until recently with Bellerin And Mhkitaryan although they have found better defensive balance and Mustafi has been able… Read more »
