Here’s Arsene Wenger touching on a range of subjects following his Lifetime Achievement Award at the Laureus Sports Awards last night.

He’s as interesting as ever.

Can never get tired of watching/reading interviews with Wenger.

One of my more enjoyable parts of the week used to be reading the transcripts of his pre-match press conferences – mostly when he would discuss non Arsenal topics.

An amazing man that we were so lucky to have

I’ve mentioned before how much I’d love if someone would go over all his interviews/press conferences over the years and pull out the gems of wisdom and just great quotes he’d say and get them down on paper.

Someone: then why don’t you do it?

Me: are you kidding? Do you know how much time and effort that would take?!?!

Red-Wing

I loved the one with self-esteem and confidence. So much wisdom from this man.

Like this one:

“I must say, the message he gave to my generation was very important because it was after the Second World War and it was basically – be strong enough to be yourself. That is a very strong message and very important for my generation.”

I love this man. I know it is a controversial thing to say and I understand the reasons behind him leaving, but I miss him. There is something missing from our club these days. In a couple of years it will be different, but at this stage, for me, it just isn’t the same.

Merci Arsène, toujours.

Sheer class as always.

Interesting comments on Ramsey.

Genius. Periodt.

shokim

Miss this intelligent, sweet man. When’s his autobiography getting released??

A Different George

Obviously, he was trying to avoid any statement that could be read as critical of anything now happening at Arsenal. BUT–he pointed out how when the Emirates was built, the club had to rely purely on transfer policy, on selling our best players. But, he said, everything is different now because of the vast increase in television money. Hmmm.

Paraic

I love this man why did we let him go it could be that he was the only thing holding arsenal together

Little Mozart

I miss him.

I’m not unhappy with Emery or anything like that, I just miss Arsène Wenger.

Goner

I am waiting the day I will see Arsene Wenger watching an Arsenal game in the stand naming after him “The Arsene Wenger stand”

arsepedant

How I wish that would happen.

Wenger’s minimum standard of finishing 4th or better for 17 seasons straight was derided by many. Ironic now that our aspirations have been recalibrate to what he was criticised for. Wenger enjoyed market knowledge and a golden generation from France in early reign coupled with the general xenophobia of the league. But that changed when Chelsea and later City started entering the fray along with the austerity imposed upon by the stadium move. When we came out of it, things seemed promising with 3 FA cup trophies suggesting we could again punch higher (not to mention spend on Ozil and… Read more »

Julio Baptista's humble alter ego

I shed a tear watching that. Such love, such intelligence and so much class.

Arsenalfanman

I truly admire this man. I want him to publish his autobiography and memoirs in audiobook form just so I can listen to so eloquent a man relay his life story. And tell us about that Park Chu Young deal!
