Arsenal striker Vivianne Miedema has been nominated for the Women’s PFA Player of the Year award after a remarkable season which has seen her smash the WSL goalscoring record. The Dutch forward has 20 so far this season with three games remaining.
?? @VivianneMiedema has created more chances from open play than any other @ArsenalWFC player this season (35) ?

Miedema is joined by Steph Houghton (Manchester City), Ji So Yun (Chelsea), Keira Walsh (Manchester City), Nikita Parris (Manchester City) and Erin Cuthbert (Chelsea) on the nominations list. There are a number of Arsenal players who will probably look at that list and regard themselves unfortunate not to be nominated.
Miedema is also nominated in the Young Player of the Year category alongside Keira Walsh, Erin Cuthbert, Georgia Stanway (Manchester City), Alisha Lehmann (West Ham) and Sophie Baggaley (Bristol City).
The winners will be announced at the PFA Awards dinner on the evening of Sunday, 28th April.

That goal was Ozil-esqe. I hope she wins
That was my immediate thought. Touch of Bergkamp/Ozil with that finish.
Yes definitely Bergkamp in his prime!
All the time in the world to pick the spot!
I think it must be something to do with the Dutch mindset that turns out these great players at regular intervals.
Yeah, quality. Can we vote on this one?
Hmmm….No… Players player of the year…
Good luck to Vivianne, she deserves it.
What I don’t get is why the Biased Broadcasting Corporation that is meant to be supportive of women’s football in this country has 5 nominations for their player of the year and not one of them is from WSL!
Lyon has 2 nominations and even then neither are Lucy Bronze who is revered as the best right back in the world.
I thought that the BBC were only opinionated when it came to politics but apparently not!
