Midfielder Charlie Gilmour has announced his departure from the club after 14 years at Arsenal.
Via his Instagram account, he released the following:
14 years.. from the age of 6 years old to 20 years old. I leave the club I have supported all my life. It has been the craziest journey throughout my childhood with so many ups & downs along the way.
From moving away from my family at the age of 13 to grafting each and everyday. My biggest highlight is to say that I’ve played for arsenal football club.
Thank you to everyone who has helped me in my career so far. The journey continues. #OnceAGoonerAlwaysAGooner p.s I’m a free agent, dm for more info.
The 20 year old made two first team appearances, coming on as a sub in our Europa League ties away to Vorskla and at home to Qarabag in this season’s competition.
Best of luck to him in the future.
Hope someone can pick him up. Having Arsenal on your resume surely isn’t a bad place to start!
Mustafi can take comfort in that too!
Lol
All this Musti bashing is getting nasty, it’s not clever or necessary and has nothing to do with this article.
You’re absolutely right. Can’t wait to ship him off so all the unnecessary bashing finally stops.
He has a world cup winners medal, and he played a part in winning it too. That counts for far more than playing for this particular Arsenal side I think.
Actually it is as most arsenal youth play at the lowest of levels…arsenal academy has been shocking under wenger. The players are taught all the wrong things and have weak mentalities
You’re out of date bigdave, the academy is excellent at the moment. The much maligned Ivan Gazidid took it away from Wengers control about three years ago and the youngsters are doing well with the new coaches and Per in charge.
Quiet you, we’re not allowed to give Gazidis any credit.
He’s the boogieman I tell you, and all our woes belong solely to him. Things such as our academy, scouting, analytics, medical and performance support team and resource, let alone corporate activities like Arsenal FC being the only PL club with an Innovation Lab, should not be mentioned.
Sad to see youngsters leave
He can’t be Happy with that
There’s only one Charlie G! Oh, wait a minute…..
Good player. Should have a career close to what Hayden is having right now, but I am still disappointed that he wasn’t given enough opportunities with the first even though we have missed a genuine defensive midfielder for so long, I would say even now. I thought he was better than Mctominay, and he still is to me. If we are going to succeed, we might have to use our development players as rotational options to save us transfer cash and wages, while using whatever we have on quality players. Charlie would have made a very good rotation option while… Read more »
I disagree, the one match I saw him play, Ben Sheaf totally outclassed him.
Good luck to him though.
I think Sheaf is a more talented player, with greater potential. But sometimes talented players can end up frustrated with a squad role, and that is how I see Sheaf.
