Although Arsenal U18s have won just one out of their first four matches so far this campaign, it has been a hugely positive start to the season for Zane Monlouis.
The schoolboy has been highly regarded at the Hale End academy for some time and this season he has been playing above his age group, to the extent that he has established himself as an important part of the U18 side.
A talented centre-back who is composed in possession, Monlouis has been selected ahead of players who are older than him and has caught the eye with his displays.
Monlouis’ progress certainly hasn’t gone unnoticed as he has received his first callup to the England U17 squad, something which will undoubtedly boost his confidence even further.
In the early stages of the campaign, Monlouis has had to cope with playing alongside a range of different central-defensive partners, such as Mazeed Ogungbo, Jason Sraha and Alex Kirk.
The prospect has adapted to each situation very well and, despite being one of the youngest players in the squad, has also demonstrated leadership qualities.
It is anticipated that Monlouis will be able to retain his place in the U18 side for the entirety of the campaign, which will set him very well for next season, when he is set to become a full-time scholar.

Keep sowing dem seeds. Good on him! COYG!
Promote him to the first team; he might just be what we need.
A Centre Back you say? Surely there is some mistake? Let’s hope he stays with us
I really want a CB in the first team that has come through our ranks, hopefully Zane Monlouis will keep progressing and make that step up in a few years
We seem to excel in producing players with great names. It’s a crying shame Armstrong Okoflex went to Celtic.
Does anyone know which one he is in the photo?
Good one..
This is very nice for him and well deserved, but he’s very young and playing a lot of football. He will need to be rested at some point.
