Arsenal Women will discover their opponents in the last 16 of the Champions League on Monday, after easily dispatching of Fiorentina in the round of 32, 6-0 on aggregate. The Gunners took a healthy 4-0 lead into the second leg at Meadow Park on Thursday evening, where a penalty from Kim Little and a second half goal for Vivianne Miedema saw Joe Montemurro’s side through.
Having not participated in the competition for over 5 years, Arsenal are unseeded, which means they will almost certainly land a tough tie in the Round of 16. The draw will be made on Monday at 1230pm UK time and will be streamed live on uefa.com.

As a result, the Gunners will draw a seeded side in Monday’s draw. Teams from the same association are kept apart until the quarter-finals, so Arsenal cannot draw Manchester City. So they will play one of Lyon, Wolfsburg, Barcelona, Bayern Munich, Paris Saint Germain, Slavia Praha or Brondby. Arsenal would only be outright favourites to beat the latter pair, Bayern and PSG would be very even ties, the Gunners might be marginal favourites against Bayern, slight underdogs against Barca given their current form and significant underdogs against either Wolfsburg or Lyon.
The round of 16 first leg will be played on 16th or 17th October, immediately after a league game away at Chelsea and the Gunners will be at home. The second leg takes place on 30th or 31st October, immediately after playing Manchester City at home in the WSL, representing a tricky run for the league champions. Arsenal remain the only British team to have won the trophy in women’s football.

If we could only miss Lyon and Wolfsburg this round. If we have to play against them, would like to do it with our best squad. Yesterday last 20 minutes we had the midfield of Jordan, Kim and Lia and it was the best passing game we have played this season, even when we were playing in first or second gear. Next round in champions league will be probably little too early for Lia to be in top form. Jordan is getting there. Ofcourse it would be fun to get as far as possible without playing the top dogs, but… Read more »
Completely agree. The one touch passing just went to another level when Lia and Jordan came on. I’d really prefer to hold off on the big two till the quarters at least, want a proper taste of this competition.
Seeding the last 16 has always seemed
the antithesis of knockout football to
me but money talks I suppose and no
chance of change in the current climate.
Sorry, just moaning but anyway the best
of luck to the team. They have courage
and skill and anyone can be beaten !
