According to David Ornstein writing in The Athletic, Arsenal are set to confirm a contract extension with Bukayo Saka this week.
News of an impending deal comes on the day the 18-year-old enters the final year of his current contract.
Having been on the fringes of the squad last summer, Saka has asserted himself on the first team becoming a regular under Unai Emery and consolidating his credentials with Freddie Ljungberg and Mikel Arteta.
Fielded across the pitch from left-back to attacking midfield, he’s featured 33 times, scoring three goals and registering 10 assists.
Those stats alerted suitors from across Europe and certainly made life more difficult for us in negotiations. It sounds as though he’s going to get a well-deserved pay rise even against the backdrop of the club’s complicated financial situation.
Securing Saka’s signature brings hope of a brighter future. Mikel Arteta knows he needs to rebuild his squad and nailing down our best young talents for the long-term gives him the building blocks to do that.
Ornstein also writes that Arsenal are keeping tabs on Thomas Partey’s situation at Atletico Madrid. We’re still pretty sceptical given Atletico Madrid are trying to reach as high as €50 million.
Stop it…..we’ve got someone to commit to a contract….?
Thank god for that!
Nice
Excellent for both parties. His bumper pay rise is well deserved too…40-50k per week me thinks. Anything above that then his agent is a worldie. Lol. Can we swap Laca for Partey please?
I was thinking maybe 70k the boy deserves it.
this ornstein guy has sucked the arsenal related suspense out of my life.
I have had enough suspense with Arsenal to last 10 lifetimes. Not anymore please
??
I cracked up at this statement haha
How ever down voted his comment really is dead inside. That was well funny
It’s like those people who buy TV Quick to find out what’s going to happen this week in all the soap operas.
If I were on Twitter the first thing I’d do is block him.
My Favorite player for us, Delighted for him
I rushed into that, Tierney is, closely followed by Saka ?
Have two favourites!
Throw Martinelli in as well, good things come in Three’s after all
Dave doesn’t normally get these things wrong. So, I believe the expression is “thank fuck for that.”
Okay… So I will lay of the pitchfork (for now) and go back to the watchtower overlooking the summer og Edu and Raul…
Now onto partey. Though partey was outplayed by puig a lot yesterday. But puig seems a generational talent. lets put a cheeky loan bid for puig ?
let’s get partey and puig next season 🙂
Superb !
Job well done. Now start targeting midfielders. Sign a midfield player before signing an attacker please..
If Guendouzi is on 40K then Saka deserves something similar. If Soares can be signed to a four-year contract, Saka had better be signed to atleast five. Or six?
Now that’s some vintage Pornstein
TF for that. The Ornacle has generally proved to be a reliable source of information in the past.
thank feck
Given the shift he’s put in this season and being paid only £3,000 a week, I wouldn’t mind if his new contract taking that into account. What a relief that he’s signing! Now we just have to create an environment he wants to stay in.
Must admit I would’nt mind being paid 3000 a week for the next 10 years!.
i’d sign a $3k a week deal, but i’ll have to insist on a 50-year contract.
Woah, 3k? That’s what Ozil earns for each fortnite match.
please let it be a 5-year extension with an option for another 5 years.
Not wishing to blow my own trumpet here, lads but I’m pretty sure the pleading, 2-word 1-emoji DM I sent him on Instagram sealed the deal.
I live to give.
When Bukayo is photographed sitting at that expensive looking desk smiling and holding the pen in his hand, with Edu and probably Kia Joorabchian standing behind. Then and only then will I be happy and satisfied!!! ??️
Looks like the number 7 is available now as well
Liam, Rocky and Roberts’ old shirt. No pressure there then!!! Let’s hope Bukayo becomes equally as good! ?
