Great players write their own script, so it felt very fitting that Bukayo Saka should net his first Premier League goal just days after committing his long-term future to Arsenal.
Fielded on the right side of attack, the 18-year-old guided a lovely volley past Wolves’ keeper Rui Patricio late in the first half to set up a 2-0 win that was completed late on by Alex Lacazette.
After the match, the youngster faced the Sky Sports cameras. Here’s what he had to say.
On a big result…
It’s very big. We know how good Wolves are, we knew how tough it was going to be out here. We fought for every ball, we fought for every duel, we’re just so delighted to get the win. It’s our fourth win in a row, we’re delighted and we just want to keep building some momentum.
On a good week for him…
It’s been a week that I will remember for my whole life. It’s been a great week, not just for me, but for the Arsenal fans. We’re building, you can see the manager is building, we’re really delighted with the results we’re getting and that I could tie down my future here. It’s been a great week.
On his goal…
I know KT, I know where he likes to cross it, when there’s space he crosses behind. I anticipated that the ball was going to come to the edge of the box so I made sure I was there. When I got the ball I knew it was the far post where the gap was going to be and I just guided it there. Luckily, it was a good finish and it went in.
On fighting for the win…
Wow, it was such a shift. Everyone, and this is what we’re improving so much, we fought for every duel, we fought for each other and that’s why we got it over the line. The subs that came on, they helped us so much. Joe Willock, Lacazette, Ainsley, Lucas, everyone that came on they gave us a boost. We’re happy with everyone. To get the win, it feels like we’re more together.
On his favourite position…
I’m 18. It’s been a dream to play for this club. I came up from the Academy this season so, I feel like I need to take each game and try to improve. Wherever the boss puts me, I have to try and give my best for the team. I’m so grateful to be here, it’s my dream. Anywhere the boss puts me in the team, I want to play.
Our youngsters will mature together!!!

I was practically choking back tears during his interview, he seemed so happy and so genuine yet trying to stay so professional.

Between Arteta, Saka, maybe Auba staying?, Mertesacker, maybe Edu being decent?, Martinelli, Saka, Tierney, Nketiah, Willock, hopefully swapping Mustafi for Saliba (who hopefully is decent) there are a few green shoots. A lot of maybes and hopefully’s in there but to quote another Arsenal fan – ” “Life isn’t, and has never been, a 2-0 home victory after a fish and chip lunch.”

Arteta is instilling that the group (i.e. squad not team) is more important than the in the individual. Those who buy into that and are 100% committed will be given a chance. Those hat do not he will get rid of. The great thing is he is instilling it into our home grown players
I love watching him play. One of the things I find most striking about him and Eddie is that it never feels like the moment is too big for them, despite their youth. They have a composure that belies their age.

How happy am i been an Arsenal fan today and keeping the faith? I have been saying we don’t need Mourinho,Nketiah is trying but Laca can put on preasures on defense and has the hold up play than him for now.
