Gillingham have snapped up another young Gunner on loan for next season with striker Trae Coyle joining Zech Medley at Priestfield Stadium.
The 19-year-old, an England youth international, trained regularly with the Arsenal first team in the final weeks of the recently ended campaign and joined up with the League One side today as they gear up for the start of the new season on 12 September.
“I’m delighted to be here; it’s a big step for me,” he told Gillingham’s official website.
“I’m getting to the age where I need to play men’s Football and I think this is a great place for me to have my first spell.
“I’m very excited, I can’t wait to get started. I’m a creative player who likes to make chances and get on the ball.”
Gills boss Steve Evans is expecting a lot from the youngster but made clear he’s going to have to apply himself to make a success of life in third tier football.
“Trae is a very exciting young talent and he is ready to further his football education,” he said.
“He is very highly thought of at Arsenal and his performances have made him a sought after loan player.
“Trae has a lot to learn, his development we are entrusted with but, in reality, his attitude and work rate will determine his success at League 1 level because he is a very very talented boy.
“He had a vast choice of clubs here in England, Holland and Germany so we are delighted to get the lad here.”
We’re expecting a few more youngsters to leave on loan in the coming days and weeks with Coventry tipped to sign Ben Sheaf.
What’s this got to do with Ozil?
Everything obviously! We can’t afford the lads wages with ozil still on the books
Well that is Arsenal’s transfer dealings for the summer concluded then..
From what I remember, Steve Evans talks about himself in the third person, and is an all round A grade lunatic.
Should be an education for the lad ?
This is all the proof I need that you are Steve Evans.
Steve Evans will neither confirm or deny the allegation.
Well, looks like we’ve got s second team to follow this coming season. The new Charlton?
Funnily enough, they’re actually my second team! ? I grew up and supported Gillingham alongside the Gunners as a youngster so this is very interesting for me.
Waiting to for my comment to be moderated on another post for over an hour, meanwhile….
Maybe not …
