Fran Stenson joins Brighton & Hove Albion Women on loan

Arsenal Women goalkeeper Fran Stenson will spend this season on loan at WSL club Brighton & Hove Albion. The 20-year-old joined from Manchester City in 2019 and spent the 2019-20 season on loan at Blackburn Rovers.

Last season, Stenson stayed with Arsenal but only played one game in the Conti Cup group stages against London City Lionesses. With Manu Zinsberger and Lydia Williams ahead of her in the pecking order, Stenson ought to get more games at Hope Powell’s Brighton side.

From anyone better informed – does this mean game time at Brighton or is does this make her 2nd choice there, rather than 3rd choice here?

Eelleen

Good… should have gone last year. One game per season is awful for anyone’s development.

Xuan

How long more does her contract run?

Chris

She signed a new “long term” contract last September……..probably runs out next September.

Why did Joe sign her from Citeh in the first place?
Alright, she got injured in training (!) tail end of last season but before that the signing of Lydia immediately signalled a wasted year for Fran.
For her sake, let’s hope Brighton give her games.

Peter Story Teller

Bloody hell she’s on the Brighton website already! Keets still hasn’t made it to ours yet!
I trust Hope Powell will give her plenty of game time as the only other goalkeeper Brighton list is Megan Walsh.
Presumably, Fran shall get a decent season in on the South coast so that next season she can compete with Manu for the No.1 spot.
I wonder what this means for Hermione? Loan next season and then her and Fran the following one?
Certainly explains why Fran was absent from the CL squad.
