Welcome to a brand new episode of the Arsenal Women Arsecast, the number one podcast about Arsenal Women.
Arsenal Women play away at defending European champions Barcelona in the first game of the Champions League group stages on Tuesday evening. Tim and resident Barcelona expert Alex Ibaceta get together to preview the game, Alex talks about Barca’s many strengths, key players, some of their weaknesses and considers whether Arsenal have any chance of escaping with any kind of result. The panel also discuss why Barcelona’s women’s team are so formidable while their men’s team flounders- a concept not unfamiliar to Arsenal fans in fairness.
The game, like all of Arsenal’s Champions League games, is being screened live on DAZN’s YouTube channel free of charge with no paid subscription required.
You can follow Tim on Twitter @Stillberto and Alex @AlexIbaceta23

This is it, going against the best team in the world. Really tough for sure, but just excited to see what Jonas and the team will show us.
You spoke about the Center and why playing through wings. We do not have a good midfielder. It was DVD who could exploit those Center spaces and we lost her and then it was Jill Roord who are no longer here. So, we must go through wings especially when you have Beth and Katie up there who can control the ball into the box.
You sure we don’t have good midfielders???
Perhaps I’m looking at a different squad.
Personally I didn’t rate Jill Roord too highly when she was with us and we certainly have not missed her so far this season. As for DvD, she had her day but wasn’t that effective for the last couple of seasons whereas Mana has hit the ground running and is bringing out the best in those around her.
Ibeceta is always a Barca fan. She will always support Barcelona over Arsenal. But, Arsenal will surprise her today.
Arsenal women have played more tougher games than Barcelona.
