Arsenal were 5-1 winners away at Koge in the Champions League on Wednesday evening with goals from Steph Catley, Nikita Parris, Caitlin Foord, Anna Patten and Jordan Nobbs. Amazing, it helps so much to create atmosphere and belief in the players. On nights like this you realise what a privilege it is to represent a club like Arsenal, it has felt like we are doing it together with the fans since the beginning and it was a great feeling to see that tonight.
On Anna Patten getting on the score sheet…
I was very happy to see her score tonight, the competition is tough to get playing time at Arsenal and Anna has worked really hard in training. It was nice that she had the opportunity to come on and score tonight, it was great for the team as well as her.

On continuing to try to score more goals even when the game was over…
It is important to keep going and for us to form good habits and keep trying to do the right thing. If you don’t do it all the time it can become hard to know when to do it and that’s not a good way to go. I’m all in!
On what he said to the players at full-time…
I told them i was proud of their performance. We saw when Koge played Barcelona that they are not an easy team to break down and you need to have patience but not to stress on the ball and give away counter attacking opportunities because they are very strong on that. It’s a combination of having speed and movement and having players behind the ball. It’s not easy, the few times we made mistakes they looked very dangerous. We didn’t give away many of those situations and that’s credit to the players and shows how focused and prepared they were.

Why does Parris keep getting starts? She had a lucky goal today (ball recieved courtesy of shot hit straight at her , she then got a deflection) all when her number was up on the subs board. Runs but produces little.

Well, we are going to need every player for a long and intensive season. Sure, she is not firing on all cylinders, but giving her game time will help her gain form and also manage the load on the other players. In fact, the best time for her to hit form may be in Feb, to give us one more push.
Also despite penalty miss, yesterday and Sundays game were sharpest Keets has been for us. First couple of games she seemed like spare part in a way that she and rest of the team didn’t understand eachother at all… last couple of games for me, she has had much better understanding. It takes time. It will be the same with Tobin.
Yup. So hopefully heath and parris will give us a boost at a crucial time of the season. You can argue the same for nobbs and foord as well.
Because she is an excellent contributor on the pitch, fits the “Jonas Ball” strategy and we need every single one of the squad to be rotated to carry an incredibly heavy schedule.
She has experience, pace, and high energy, and works pretty hard. These are traits that most managers value, and coaches that espouse pressing are more likely to appreciate them than most. She’s not a player I would have signed for Arsenal, and in the past I have found her rather overrated, but she does have good qualities and it can’t be said that she has cost us any games. I agree with you except on the point of not buying Parris,
When she gets her confidence she will be so daunting to the opponents.
You can see she has the technique but confidence is shot.
She is almost always there when the keeper fluffs the lines and her low confidence makes her indecisive on which leg to use, same with Foord.
A little confidence and we will be hitting teams for 6 most games.

It doesn’t matter that the goalkeeper moved to her right before the ball was kicked. She just has to have one foot on the goal line at the moment of impact. We now just need a really reliable penalty taker as backup for Kim.
