Arseblog News and members of the press were invited to attend an open training session at Emirates Stadium as part of Arsenal Women’s preparations ahead of the 2021 FA Cup Final against Chelsea.
Tim Stillman took in all the action pitchside and in the Arsenal media centre with head coach Jonas Eidevall and captain Kim Little holding an in-person press conference.
Excellent to see Jen, Mana, Caitlin and Steph part of today’s training session…hopefully the Aussie’s heads will be re-connected with their feet come Sunday. Obviously, Leah is going to be sorely missed and our success on Sunday to a large degree probably depends on how Jonas solves that particular problem. Then there is Tobin. Tim’s comment that,”not surprisingly”, she is not likely to be in the line-up makes her signing seem more a statement of intent that the Club is ready to compete for big players rather than them being able to play regularly. I agree with your comment about Tobin in that it would be good to see her play more minutes. When she has played she has done well. But, do not underestimate the value of having someone of that stature, and winning mentality in and around the squad. Even if Tobin is unable to play but we win WSL, win the FA Cup twice in one season and progress in the Champions League you have to consider all of the signings, including Tobin, a success.
Of course we’ll miss star defender Leah and star signing Tobin, but we’ll still have a first class 11 on the pitch plus first class substitutes on the bench!
