Jordi Osei-Tutu has returned to Arsenal after his season long loan move to Nottingham Forest was terminated.
The 23 year old joined the Championship side in August, but made only four appearances, missing large chunks of the season due to hamstring and ankle injuries respectively. He has been training with us as part of his injury rehab for some weeks now.
It was something of a shop window loan move too, as his deal with Arsenal expires in the summer, and this was an opportunity to play regularly and attract interest from clubs ahead of the summer window.
It remains to be seen if he will go out again before the end of January, the ankle problem could keep him out until March apparently, and his return to North London comes just days before we face Forest in the FA Cup third round.
It’s the latest in a serious of recalls of young players whose loan moves haven’t quite gone as well as expected. In the last week Jonathan Dinzeyi and Nikolaj Moller have come back from Carlisle United and Viktoria Koln respectively, while Harry Clarke’s loan to Ross County was cut short so he can join Hibernian in a permanent deal.
Hope he gets his injury issues under control. Clearly a decent talent in there if he can.
My Forest mate says he is fantastic.
Hopefully we get some European football next year, and maybe he might get his chance with the first team.
except his contract expires this summer
Any loans gone well? Genuinely interested as I don’t follow who has gone where very closely
I don’t follow the youth loans very closely, but some of the senior players are doing very well indeed. Last I looked, Bellerin’s club were third in La Liga; both Saliba and Guendouzi typically start for Marseilles; Mavropanos is one of the highest-ratest defenders in the Bundesliga; and Torreira is beginning to play regularly in Italy. Not sure we’ll see any of them again, although maybe Saliba.
You never know in football. You don’t burn bridges most of the times. Remember Coqueline?
