Arsenal take on Liverpool this evening in the second leg of the Carabao Cup semi-final (first leg 0-0).
Here are the official line-ups.
Arsenal: Ramsdale, Tomiyasu, White, Gabriel, Tierney, Lokonga, Odegaard, Smith Rowe, Saka, Martinelli, Lacazette
Subs: Hein, Holding, Alebiosu, Tavares, Partey, Patino, Salah-Eddine, Nketiah, Biereth
Liverpool:
Subs:
Come onnnn Arsenalll
I am fine with all of us being positive but let’s also keep our reality-meter in check. Let’s put up a fight and get to the final. But if we do end up losing, we need to understand that we are 6-months into our gelling period and Liverpool are almost 5 years in. It’s by no means a shit team and I would not want our supporters to skate the team if we end up losing, it’s just the manner of the defeats still, REMEMBER. Now, all said, COYG let’s stuff these mugsmashers 5-0. K-pop is due one and his… Read more »
Dude liverpool haven’t even got a single player in their lineup! We’re going to crush them. Stop being so negative!
Not being negative, just setting the right expectations.
Salad and Mane missing but Jota and Firmino are no mugs. Remember, we do not have Partey and the required experience in midfield.
I am still excited but going to crush them is a bit …ahemmm (no pressure lads)
Freaking autocorrect
First it was skate, then K-pop, and now Salad
WTF
No one should be eating salads and mains anyway
As*
Apparently Saka opened his kit bag and found Robertson in there from the last game.
And nobody on the bench either!
Excellent attacking lineup. Let’s put crybaby Klopp and co to the sword
Great lineup! Two nil to The Arsenal!
Marvellous. Hope we get to the end with no injuries.
Big game needed from Lokonga!!
And the other 10 players!
that’s pretty much our 1st team minus partey, lovely to see!
hope the midfield works out though, and that the attacking lineup brings plenty of goals
COYG 🔴🔴🔴🔴🔴🔴🔴🔴🔴🔴🔴
Exciting line-up alright, COYG!
COYG!
Looks like pretty close to the strongest team we could have expected. No Chambers, so hopefully Tomi is pretty fit. COYG!
Much more the side I want to see! Love that defence and very hopeful ESR and Ode can learn to function together but best of all NOT STARTING NKETIAH.
Strong
No Leno in the squad….. and off he goes.. good luck to him.
Odergaard / Smith-Rowe = hell yes!
Chambo also missing
Arteta’s press conference when he said we have issues seems even funnier now. Very strong line up with our man Partey back literally the day after getting back from AFCON
I’d say he’s fine. Flew back yesterday, 8 or 9 hours kip last night / this morning, cup of joe, right as rain.
Commentary stream I have said his flight landed 7hrs before kickoff
But look at that threadbare bench!, we only have Eddie to win it or tie it if needed at +90
Biereth will score one if required.
Plus we have Salah on the bench
In my opinion we do have issues as half of our bench players have anywhere between 0 and 5 first team games under their belt, including the keeper. The fitness of Partey is highly doubtful. On the other hand, however, it could be argued that this is our own doing, after removing Kola and Mari from the squad just before this game and probably not including Leno on purpose. But that is certainly not a semi final worthy bench. Also don’t forget that up to 5 substitutions are possible in this competition. Haven’t seen the Liverpool lineup, but if they… Read more »
Lokonga is so, so key tonight. Hope he’s up for it. So much depends on how well he can protect the defence and control that midfield space.
So, so key. So key.
You’re asking too much of Lokonga there- he needs the help of Smith Rowe ,Ødegaard and Lacazette.
Yes! Come on you gunners!
Brilliant line-up. Not much on the bench if we need a goal so hopefully it doesn’t come down to subs.
No Leno – let the Newcastle rumours ramp up.
Liverpool don’t look quite as strong as last week – Kelleher, Jones, Gordon starting for them instead of Allison, Milner, Minamino.
Interesting mo Chambers on the bench. IIs he injured?
Yeah he got injured in the reverse leg last week – but still finished the match. Shame he misses out today as it’s his 27th Birthday.
Leno off to Tyneside then? Will Hein become No 2 keeper?
Experienced cover would be the sensible option.
Interested to hear from Jeorge Bird if he reckons Hein is ready to be #2.
no Leno on the bench!!! :O
Looks like a winning team to me time to make a statement 🙏
Looks like a 4-2-3-1 lineup and if so, Sambi & MÖ8 midfield pivot is huge on talent but a bit too light methinks. Hope the talent and grit prevails over strength.
Exactly my sentiments
Partey on the bench! Ha, the life of a professional footballer. No time to catch a breather- show goes on.
We will never get a better chance to beat Liverpool. Based on the squad form we are almost at full strength in the starting line-up and we have home advantage. Liverpool is not at full strength and not as fresh as us. If we don’t beat them tonight it will be a big disappointment.
Xhaka not playing is also a huge plus. Statistically, the chances of getting a red card or giving away a needless penalty have decreased. But Gabriel has some Xhaka/David Luiz in him so he needs to keep his cool.
11 on 0, I like our chances.
No handbrake please
Shockingly strong team, I must say.
That is basically our first team bar Partey and Xhaka.
We should nick this.
Neville and Carragher may have a word or two to say about it.
But who cares?
Liverpool played on Sunday after they got this match rescheduled on Wednesday… and nobody as much as coughed.
Just heard that tit on talksport, Adrian Durham, shocked at the strength of our team tonight and demanding answers if we go through. Not even a mention of the cheating scousers.
Arteta said in his pre-match that several of the players didn’t train all week. I’d guess a few of them are carrying minor knocks. Ode may have fatigue side-effects.
Don’t waste your time with talksport. Load of rubbish.
Adrian Durham.
If there was an Olympics for Total Utter Cunts he’d be romping home for gold in every event – no contest.
Honestly someone should put him on a bonfire
I remember feeling confident when a Merseyside team played a teenager ip front once before.
We all know what Rooney did then
Just remember, even if we don’t win tonight, with that teamsheet every non gooner is in meltdown tonight
A big effort to get these players fit enough to play, I hope they’re all OK, we don’t have a lot on the bench.
Tame, clumsy, and weak so far…..hoping for an improved performance 2nd half.
We’re obviously not watching the same game
Yeah, your head is stuck in the sand and finishing 8th is great…I get it lol
This is a league cup match not the premier league. What has it got to do with where we finish on the table? Proves my point – you’re seeing things
Enjoying the game? still happy? I meant in general you are happy with any sh*t performance. You are in the team (Arteta’s Fart does not smell) I know this is a cup game you twat. I just have higher standards than you.
No man, I’m not an arteta apologist. I’ve consistently given him plenty sticks on this platforms many times over. But unlike you I didn’t see in that first half a “tame , clumsy , tame performance”. I saw a young arsenal side pretty much holding their own against one of top sides in English club soccer all things considered. I also don’t see what arteta did wrong here. He played the best personnel available. He didn’t resort to a negative football. We went for it. We just didn’t have the personnel and maturity to sustain it. Moreover let’s face it,… Read more »
*Tomi
To be fair quite a few of our players haven’t had chance to train properly – ESR, MO and Tomi come to mind hence not surprising they don’t look the part tonight, shame really!!!
