Malin Gut leaves Arsenal Women for Grasshopper Zurich

Arsenal Women midfielder Malin Gut has officially left the club to join Grasshopper Zurich in Switzerland. The 21-year-old joined the club from Grasshopper Zurich in the summer of 2020 but failed to settle in London.

The move was actually agreed before the end of the 2020-21 season with Gut struggling with homesickness but the Swiss international ruptured her anterior cruciate ligament in one of the last training sessions of last season, which delayed the move.

Gut has been recuperating in Switzerland and Arsenal have supervised her rehab but it had already been decided that the move would be rekindled before Jonas Eidevall was appointed as manager.

Gut is in the final stages of her recovery from injury and Grasshopper have officially registered her. She will now focus on getting fit and playing prior to this summer’s European Championships.

Arseblog News asked Jonas Eidevall about this move last night and this is what he said. “The decision was taken before I arrived. Of course we have helped her during her rehabilitation period and taking our responsibility and treated her like an Arsenal player. That is important, that they are Arsenal players when they are on the pitch but also when they are off the pitch.”

More demonstrations of class from Arsenal. Good luck Malin!

Wishing Makin a speedy recovery so that she can play for her country at the euros!

Sorry it didn’t work out for Malin in London. Unfortunately, the last couple of years have not been the best for being a young person trying to work and settle in a foreign country and the ACL has really did her no favours at all.
All the best to her back home and I am sure we shall follow her future career with interest.

Eloquently summarised, Peter – as always!
Malin is a talented young player & hope she does well back home 🙂

GUTe Glück Malin

That is class!

I believe Arsenal also showed their loyalty by making it easier for both Martinez and Chambers to move to Villa.
