Arteta provides fitness update on Smith Rowe and Tomiyasu

Mikel Arteta has confirmed that Emile Smith Rowe will be available for Sunday’s clash with Leicester at Emirates Stadium.

The England international missed the 3-2 win over Watford following a positive Covid-19 diagnosis but has now recovered.

“Emile looks like he’s going to be available,” Arteta said on Friday afternoon.

“He went through Covid, he’s feeling good now, he’s had a couple of training sessions.

“Hopefully, he can get the rhythm, the consistency and stay out of missing games because he’s a really important player for us and we need him.”

The only player likely to miss out is Takehiro Tomiyasu who continues to be nursed back to health having picked up a second calf issue this year.

“Tomiyasu, we’re still assessing him,” said Arteta. “We’re taking some time to try to protect him and get him in the best [shape] in the safest possible way so he can help the team as quick as possible.”

Despite sharing a picture on social media of a gruesome set of stud marks on his ankle – caused by a Thomas Partey tackle in training – Alex Lacazette is also fine for the weekend.

Another win please, do it for the fans, the manager, Edu, Kroenke, Auba, Wilshere, Ukraine, a newborn in your family etc. Find a reason to keep the thrill going.

Come on guyss..
Leicester played just last night, while we last played on Sunday.
Big advantage, Let’s get these 3pts!

I’m not taking anything for granted as they have a few quality players but Vardy injured is the big advantage.

Our time will come. We play Liverpool 3 days after and the next game has the same margin

I would be delighted to take a draw from Liverpool, but them losing to Inter the other night has slightly increased my optimism for that game.

Keep up guys , don’t look down Infront of any team now coz you are good to go , we love you from top to bottom in the rankings . Bring champion league to Emirates .

Third place is possible…aim high l…who knows…if we miss the 3rd place spot we will settle for 4th.. 😀

Admirable optimism but I highly doubt it. Chelsea are still very difficult to beat, consistent, can play bad and still win, and have a decent upcoming run of fixtures. I don’t think this Abramovich situation will affect them on the pitch as much as some people assume, but we’ll see.

For whatever reason I had assumed 4th goes into the qualifying round, but I just checked and actually all four top 4 teams do indeed go to the Group Stage.

Badaab

what has tomi seen thats causing him to make that face?

Nainsley Aitland Miles

Partey about to shoot.

chepetin

Him and Arteta are both noticing Xhaka about to make a two-footed tackle…

I really hope to see Tomiyasu back in the team soon. He could add that attacking threat on the right side. I am sure he will elevate our game even further

mrugunner
