Saka shortlisted for Premier League Player of the Season

Bukayo Saka is one of eight players to be nominated for the Premier League Player of the Season award.

The 20-year-old is the youngest name on the shortlist which includes Mo Salah, Kevin De Bruyne, Son Heung-min, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Jarrod Bowen, James Ward-Prowse and Joao Cancelo.

While the award is likely to go to either Salah or De Bruyne – the former already picked up the Football Writers’ Award – it’s great that Saka, who has scored 11 goals and made 6 assists in 36 appearances, has been recognised for his stellar efforts.

Responsibility for picking the winner is split between a panel (made up of former players, managers and referees, broadcasters, fans, officials and sponsors) and a public vote.

You can vote for Bukayo here.

Saka became the first player born in the 21st century to play in a Premier League match when he made his debut under Unai Emery on 1 January 2019 and it’s fair to say he’s gone from strength to strength ever since.

Bouncing back from his penalty miss in the European Championships final last summer, the winger has been Arsenal’s most consistent performer this campaign with his attacking contribution vital to the club’s challenge for a Champions League place.

The Premier League is yet to announce its shortlist for its Young Player of the Season award but we’d expect Saka and a couple of other Gunners will make that shortlist too.

Get that 10 year contract on the table and signed asap!

Been with us since 8 years old, totally classy and effective player, could be a total legend when he retires with Arsenal in 15 years time!

Funsho Patrick

Who’s the spurs troll that downvoted you?!

Qwaliteee

Probably Gary Neville.

The cunt.

Ozzie

Reality…,
if Bukayo keeps progressing, in 18 months he’ll be truly genuinely world class, so Real Madrid/Man City will snap him up.
But if he’s already reached his best and plateaus, he’ll spend his career with us.
This is modern football.

Assshavin

Happy for Saka. He deserves it. Also Ronaldo should be on that list. Deserves the credit for his season despite playing for such a shit team.

BongoGooner

Dear Bukayo
Please never leave Arsenal. You would break our hearts.
Love
BongoGooner and all the Arsenal fans
PS: What other team would of made a wall with the letters that were sent to you? Shitty? Never.

Lord Bendnter

Not sure how Bowen and JWP are in the list, while Sadio Mane isn’t

Gunnerlocutor

Wouldn’t be surprised if he wins this award in the next 3-5 years. Sure hope he’s still a Gunner when he does!

goonerink

Although Mikel isnt on the shortlist you can also vote for paddy as Manager of the season on the official PL website.

Billy bob

If it is between Salah and Bruyne, as seems to be the opinion, then I’d go with the latter!!

Jack

Paul Tierney is apparently shortlisted for referee of the season along with Mighty Mouse and Roy Cropper.

C.B.

No chance of beating (blind comedian) Chris McCausland in that competition.

Though Tierney will get the votes of Mike Dean and Mike Riley…

Qwaliteee

A shame we can’t ask Cape Canaveral for a spare Space Shuttle.

Forget fireworks and flares, we could celebrate our victory over Everton and 4th place with a lap of honour before then blasting Mike Dean into outer space where the cunt belongs.

Imagine 60,003 people joining in with the Emirates match day announcer for the count down. Splendid.

Qwaliteee

Every single ref should get a Cunt of the Year award. VAR should get the Sepp Blatter Award for Services to Corruption.

Gary Neville should get Total and Utter Cunt of the Year. Incredible effort this year from the rat faced cretin.

Thierry Bergkamp (non negotiable)

He had a slow start to the season, but I voted for De Bruyne.
Saka will be winning the award in a few years time, I’m sure

Teryima Adi

De Bruyne deserves it.

Qwaliteee

Right.

Let’s get top four in the bag, have a fucking good laugh at Gary Neville and the salty Spuds and then tie this kid down to a bumper new deal that keeps him here for a very very long time.

Sounds like a plan to me. 😊👍
