Mikel Arteta says Arsenal remain active in the transfer market, and will do so until the end of the window with potential departures and more arrivals not ruled out.
The Gunners have made five signings already this summer with Gabriel Jesus, Oleksandr Zinchenko, Matt Turner, Fabio Vieira and Marquinhos already added to the squad.
Asked if there was more to come at his pre-game press conference today, Arteta said, “We are really active, as you can see with players coming in and out.
“Everything is still open, it’s a long window, a lot has happened, it’s incredible how much business the clubs have done across the Premier League and it shows how competitive it is, and this season is not going to stop that.
“Players are going to have the need to leave, some others to move and everything is open still.”
Having lost to Palace away last season, Arteta will be hoping some of his new signings can make the difference on Friday night, but he’s under no illusions as to how tough it will be at Selhurst Park.
“They showed last season how tough they are and how difficult they are to beat,” he said.
“The consistency they showed at home, especially against some big teams they got some great results. They had that result against us, and hopefully we learned a lot of lessons that day – especially the 30 minutes we during that game where the standards where nowhere near what we needed.
“We paid the price for it.”
Runarsson, Bellerin, AMN, Torreira, Pepe, Mari, Cedric. That’s a long list…
And tome, our selling department is not the best in the world. Although Leno wanted to leave and wanted to stay in London, there is still a monthto goin transfers and getting 3M is an insult.
Mykeyboarddoesnotlikespacestonight!
what the hell does ‘ternative’ mean?
Sorry, Bro😄
That’s the team you’d pick this weekend? Yikes…
We need a CM. We are a Partey injury away from a dysfunctional midfield, unless Arteta feels that Sambi is ready to take a step up.
He isn’t. We all saw that last April and May.
Tielemans is the deal we need to get done.
I think we’d already have him if that’s what they wanted
Leicester Waiting until after we play them to sell.
Tielemans price is going down everyday we get closer to the end of the window, no need to rush.
The fact he’ll be in the last year of his contract and Leicester’s financial troubles means he’ll probably go for closer £20m than the £40m they wanted at the start of the window.
until utd pays 40M for him because they wont get de jong.
They’ll probably pay £60m knowing them
He will never be ready to replace Partey because he’s not a 6, but he has huge potential as an 8. I hope we will see him there during the season, as his preseason showings were quite impressive.
In the absence of Partey, he’s a bettter bet alongside Xhaka than Sambi.
My bad – thought you were talking about Tielemans.
I disagree, with Zinchenko and White pushing in alongside I think we have the progressive passers to compensate if someone like Elneny plays
Agreed. We also have the option of changing the system around a bit should Partey gets injured (or something else). I think Arteta’s interest in flexibility shows that he’s not always looking to manage injuries through a like for like substitution.
Maybe but Partey can also beat a man or two with one turn. Elneny rarely does that.
Of course we don’t want to miss him but i think we’re working on ways to mitigate his loss if and when he’s out
I’m hoping for a Tomiyasu signing, under the radar, brilliant and effective to address that attack and CM.
🙏🏾
There seems to be a bit too much umming and ahhring about the Tielemans deal.
As box-to-box midfielders go, we really could do an awful lot worse.
I think the sooner we get this one over the line the better.
As for the out goings…I’ve got better things to do – like tidying my sock drawer – than to waste a single minute more worrying about who and when and why and if they go.,..it has gone way beyond boring. Just fucking get rid of them, Arsenal..!!
We need to beat them-show them who’s boss. COYG!!!
In more former player news, I see that Forest have allowed Carl Jenkinson to stay at Newcastle permanently after his loan. Yeah, different Newcastle.
I’m quite sure it’s not going to happen but we could do with one more striker before the window closes.
It’s not like Saka can’t play left back if it came to it. I’m sure he could find diagonals to Pepe.
Further down, Martinelli could play left wing back if needs, absolutely, must.
Things shouldn’t get there though, with the WC and January around the corner.
Striker please. Central Midfielder too if possible.
And cut loose the players who are just not good enough, we know who they are!
One more striker and tielemans, then I’ll be happy.
I’m not sure we really need another striker, whoever we get in to cover for Jesus and nketiah would probably be worse than martinelli in that position
