After Arsenal’s 3-0 win over Brentford, Gabriel Jesus and Granit Xhaka faced the media. Here’s what the pair had to say…
On the performance…
GJ: It was amazing, you know. From the start we showed what we want to do in the game, play like always, try to create the chances to finish and to score. That’s what I believe we did and that’s the most important thing, to win the games.
On how Arsenal were so dominant…
GX: You see a different mentality this season, how Gabi said, we had a great chance after maybe one minute with Martinelli, if he scores, we start well. But we keep going, working each other, training like we play as well, we have the class as well with the new players who can make a difference. Today you saw that.
On Xhaka’s assist…
GJ: He found me, you know. He’s joking sometimes that he wants to improve his assists and then he gives me a lot of balls. I’m so happy to play with him. He’s intelligent and a quality player as well. All the time, he’s trying to find me. Today, he find me. A great ball, a great cross and I can head it in the net, so I’m happy.
Jesus is a monster! Never stops even at 3 up in final minutes. What a signing!
Just hope he gets no more bookings, we need him!
Well, although you have to be careful not to make it too obvious, the trick is to pick up the yellow card that gives you a one-game suspension just before a league-cup game that you weren’t going to play in anyway. So, late in the previous match, you block an opponent’s undangerous free kick, or grab a shirt far from your own goal.
😳
But he’s already on 4 yellows, that’s the point.
Booking against Sp*rs, and he misses Liverpool.
It hasn’t worked like that for a few years. Yellow card suspensions only count in the competition they were received in.
How about score the winner in the 92nd minute then run around helicoptering his shirt over his head in celebration?
Jesus got a lot of Granit balls. I’m tempted to comment on that, but I think I’ll pass.
Not just about scoring. His mentality is superb.
He has galvanized the team.
If Arteta, Edu and the Kroenke’s keep up this pace of improving the squad, we will challenge for the league title next season.
One of the biggest improvements, for me, is our confidence playing out from the back. They look unfazed by teams’ full field press – especially when Partey is playing.
Next season??
Exactly, you are in a title race until you are not.
GET IN THERE, MY SONS!!!
just go game by game and we already are contenders this season! Just win the next game!
I just gonna say it…
If we pull 5 -7 points from the Spuds, Scouse and Citeh games – we ARE officially contenders. No 2 ways about it.
Honestly, I’m confident we have the wherewithal to win the title this season. The only snag might be injury to key players,at key moments. With the Way we are playing, and the calibre of players at our disposal, we CAN do it!
It’s up to the refs and VAR Herberts! They will decide things as usual!
I’m all for positive attitude but let’s not start saying we can win the league after 7 games ffs
Mate, the operative word there is can… nothing wrong with a little self-belief?
And it’s a fuck of lot better than saying we can’t!
why can’t this squad? they are beating the teams they are supposed to beat.
That second half pass from Xhaka to Jesus was something else. If Jesus scored that it would be goal of the month just for the assist.
Loved to see Jesus gathering the players to talk to them after the first goal. I’m pretty sure he used his deepest voice to belch “FINISH THEM!!”
Hahahaha
He certainly wasn’t telling ’em to ‘turn the other cheek’!
Wonderful
Am elated. Carry on boy. Don’t forget. Many are waiting for December slumber. Let’s disappoint them from this season.
Arsenal is great again.
The pleasure of a team to watch playing
Nice to see Arsenal not getting thugged out of the game as before! Shame the ref let ManU do it – as usual!
