Three post-World Cup fixtures rearranged for TV

In a few weeks time, the Premier League will call halt to proceedings ahead of the World Cup taking place in Qatar.

It will resume again on December 26th, and three of Arsenal’s festive fixtures have been moved for TV coverage.

The details are below.

Arsenal v West Ham

Date: December 26th
KO: 20.00
Channel: Amazon

Brighton v Arsenal

Date: December 31st
KO: 17.30
Channel: Sky Sports

Arsenal v Newcastle

Date: January 3rd
KO: 20.00

Arsenal also await details of when the postponed games against Everton and Man City will take place, and the post-World Cup fixture list promises to be a real challenge.

8pm on Boxing Day. Amazon can p*ss off. There’s a nice day out with my lad ruined.

Alex

Tuck him in by 7:45, it’s a win-win

GraeB

Can’t really blame Amazon, blame it on the idiots who made Boxing Day the resumption of football after the even more idiotic World Cup in Qatar. Is 8pm better/worse than lunch/afternoon/tea time kick off that day? Sorry for Gooners in other time zones too.

Ross

It is if you are going to the match. For example I was taking my young boy to his first game, and now all fixtures over the holiday period are evening kickoffs. Also, Boxing Day is always a nightmare for public transport. No chance getting a train back at after 10:30pm on Boxing Day. As ever the match going fans are irrelevant.

Fledz

Yeah I was also looking forward to a match in daylight.

Qwaliteee

Whilst I fully empathise that an 8.00 pm KO is a ridiculous time for those travelling on public transport – Boxing Day itself is still traditionally a big day in the football calendar. Aaah, those Tony Woodcock and Charlie Nicholas goals against Spurs back in the day….. Due to the late KO, I myself shall now miss the West Ham game due to work (I’m a London Black Cabbie and Boxing Night is always a case of all hands on deck – or more to the point, behind the wheel) Mrs Q will now be duly taking my place at… Read more »

You can and should blame Amazon in conjunction with the other groups (fifa, the fa, advertisers) for the rearrangement of fixtures

While I sympathize deeply with those supporters for whom this schedule is really inconvenient, I have to respectfully disagree with the comment about those of us in other time zones. I usually have to be up at ridiculous hours like 4:30a or 6:00a to watch matches. Now I get a couple of 12:00 noon starts and one at 9:30a. I know it’s crappy for you guys, but in North America it’s a big “Finally!” from us, particularly on the west coast.

Billykrystal

A tough restart, especially if they cram City in there after Newcashle. With any luck at least some of our team will be riding high after being crowned world champions. My moneys on Willy…

I’mnready to publicly state/bet here that France won’t make it this year (and i’m actually from that piece of land accross the Channel)

A Different George

No Kante, probably no Pogba, maybe Varane too. But one last month of brilliance from Benzema, a freed-from-contractual-limits Griezmann, and a happy to be out of Paris Mbappe, and our William may still find himself a starter on a world champion.

Mark Gillespie

Alway stitch up the geordies in London. Almost feel sorry for them. Maybe they can get a flying carpet, instead of a train home

GraeB

Almost!

Fledz

Rough. They even changed the day to a work day!

Fatgooner

A nice late kick-off on New Year’s Eve. A p*ss-take for Gooners who want to see in the new year in London.

Nainsley Aitland Miles

On the contrary, the travelling fans can kill two Seagulls with one stone and watch New Year’s fireworks on Brighton Pier.
