Report: Gabriel Jesus out of the World Cup due to knee injury

It is being reported this morning that Gabriel Jesus is set to miss the rest of the World Cup due to a knee injury sustained in the 1-0 defeat to Cameroon last night.

The 25 year old was due for a scan today, and it seems that the news is not good for the Arsenal man. It should be noted that this not yet official, but appears to be coming from well placed sources.

It’s a blow for the player, and obviously a worry for Mikel Arteta. Jesus has been an important cog in his table topping machine, and being without him for any sustained period of time would be a significant blow

More on this as we get it, and in the meantime keep everything crossed that it’s not too serious. The report says he could be out for up to a month, so it’s not impossible that he could be fit again by December 26th when we face West Ham in our first post-World Cup fixture.

This can’t be happening. Start prepping Eddie NOW!!

GoonerJust

Eddie must be ready to that his chance. However, still we need reinforcement upfront, Gabi J and Eddie are all we have at the mement.

Shsun

Definitely need a new Striker ASAP

Chris

FUCK

Walter White

Eddie has proven us wrong once and I believe he can do it again.

Heavenly Chapecoense

You mean those who thought Eddie would become a prolific goal scorer?

Walter White

Those who thought he could not be useful to us last season.
He did get us some vital points.

goongot

Nketiah time.

Philarsopher

Oh, hello doom, where have you been hiding?

Domi

Eddie will have an opportunity if GJ doesn’t recover in time, but I’d rather put Martinelli up front and ESR on the left, would be almost a similar level of nuisance as GJ is and we all know how good ESR is already. Eddie is just too limited technically.

Jebus

Giving a contract to Nketiah was the biggest mistake of the season. I hope they can bring a decent backup in January, the gap between Eddie and Jesus is huge.

Franz23

Hey God.
Why the hack do you hate Arsenal?
Anytime we get close to something bad luck strikes..

Fingers crosed Gabi is ok soon

LEFT08

Let’s hope it’s not too serious. It is a shame for him to miss the tournament, especially if Brazil do well. From an Arsenal perspective, I’m not panicking. We have a good squad, we can handle it.

Paul

I’m panicking.

Eric Blair

Yep, we are screwed if this is long term.

allezkev

Get him home and in the treatment room.

Franz23

Hey God, why do you hate Arsenal?

goonero

Fffffffffuuuuuuuuuuccccckkkk

goddirect737@yahoo.co.uk

Fuuuuuuuuuuk saiiik!

Saka

Reports are he has been carrying this injury while at Arenal.
If true why didn’t we sort this out in this break !!!!!!
He’s our property.

Andrew

IF it is only 3-4 weeks, then this is outcome isn’t as terrible as it could’ve been.

Bow Sharkey

One game. One fucking game. Lol.

Vonnie

Such a shame for him, I hope it’s not too serious and he can be back fit soon.

Henkamp

Just a few hours after we celebrated Partey navigating the tournament without any issues? The injury gods must be sadists

Charlz

PANIC STATIONS Everyone!!!! Maybe we’ll have to go in for a striker in January

Leon

There is a surprise.
Hopefully it is not as bad as first thought.

Hurensohn

Hopefully but I can’t think of a knee injury that keeps you out for a few weeks… MCL strain is at least a month anything like an impact injury wouldn’t keep him out for the tournament…

Eric Blair

If we wanted to maintain our position at the top of the table the two players we absolutely couldn’t afford to lose were Partey and Jesus.

Not only are they fundamental to the team, but their replacements just aren’t good enough, especially over a long term.

I’ve long wished for a better alternative to Jesus than Eddie, it seems now might be the time to get one.

Oh, and fuck this world Cup.

Brady’s bunch

Get the cheque book out, Eddie’s not at the level we need

Fatgooner

This is a blessing In disguise. This will force Arteta to go out and buy the striker that we desperately needed anyway. Hopefully, Jesus will come back fresh in the new year. And please, please: fuck Eddie Nketiah! He’s just not good enough to win us the title. If Arteta and Edu decide that we can win the title with Nketiah and we blow it then they should both be sacked in the summer. This is the critical point of the season. This is when Arteta proves he’s a great manager or just another loser. We need a fucking quality… Read more »

Fenko

What are you on?
So every time the striker is injured, for a short term, you buy a new one immediately?
If Arsenal can not cope with Jesus out foe a month, then something is seriously wrong.

Brady’s bunch

Our back up striker is not good enough We need a better option off the bench or to rotate simples

A Different George

Let me translate, as objectively as possible, what you are saying:

If Arteta and Edu (who, against all expectations, have us at the top of the league) fail to win the league they should be sacked unless they buy a new striker in January.

Does this make sense to anyone–even you?

Man Manny

Arteta and Edu have too much credit in the bank for criticism let alone the sack. That we are having Arsenal and the title race in the same sentence is down to their brilliance in the first place.
But I understand what you mean; we have to seize the moment and make the signings that will make it easier to withstand the inevitable City onslaught in the second half of the season.

djourou's nutmeg

arsene asked us to take care of the values of our club, and here you are, doing exactly the opposite in every comment. i don’t care about another striker, i don’t care about the title. i just wish i didn’t have to share a fanbase with people like you who clearly have nothing to do with what arsenal means.

Thierry Bergkamp (non negotiable)

8 people actually agree with this

Vaffangool

And 43 do not. I’m not accustomed to finding myself among the majority of Gooners but apparently the process has magicked our lot into a more level-headed sort.

Gervinho is Driving

Chill. We have decent cover, goals from all over the pitch, and no matches for three weeks. Thomas is uninjured. Massive cushion for top four. This is an interesting test of how many of our supporters are drawn to Arsenal because of our “crisis” moments, rather than in spite of them.

wrrong

A solid striker in January would save us some dosh on the right flank (as Jesus can cover there when not playing up top). Maybe someone with a slightly different profile than our current 2 strikers.

dariusz

Let’s be real.
If he is ruled out of the tournament, it is a significant injury.
It’s a big blow for us.
Tough times ahead, but as much as I’ve doubted Arteta in the past, I believe he has a plan B for the time without Jesus.

LFG!!

Naked Cygan

There is only one plan Nketia.
