Odegaard: We win and lose together

Martin Odegaard backed Gabriel Martinelli after the Brazilian’s missed penalty in the shoot-out against Sporting last night, insisting that whatever the result, the focus is on the team and not any individual.

Martinelli’s penalty, the fourth in the shoot-out for Arsenal, was saved by Spanish keeper Adan, and when asked about on BT Sport last night, the Norwegian said, “We win and lose together. It doesn’t matter.

“When we’re winning everyone is happy, when we lose we have to pick up the spirit. We win and lose together.”

“We have to remember it’s been a great season, it’s a big blow to go out of this competition.

“But now we look forward to the league, that’s all we can do now.”

The captain admitted that the Gunners were not at their best, falling below the high standards set already this campaign, and ultimately the visitors came out on top – even if there were chances to win the tie during extra-time.

“They are a good team, we knew that, we were prepared. It was more about us today, we didn’t play the way we normally do with the same energy we normally do.

“Now we have to look forward.”

Mikel Arteta’s men face Crystal Palace on Sunday at the Emirates, in light of the news that they have this morning dismissed manager Patrick Vieira.

We didn’t even lose. No need to stress gooners. To win the league with a relatively thin squad we couldn’t continue competing through to the final of Europa. Just a reality. Even here we picked up injuries we really didn’t need, bit thankfully rested some league. Naturally Arteta and the team stated how much we wanted to win this, but the reality is we (rightly) rotated heavily in both legs which shows where our priorities lie. Now let’s win the fucking league!!! COYG!

Trust Arsenal to go out just as the away goal rules changed!

Never works in our favour

He’s got no hair but we don’t care...

We would have won if the manager had played you and Saka from the start.

He’s got no hair but we don’t care...

Ah yes, thumbs down from all who know it’s true. Continue.

You’d be the same person complaining if Saka or Odegaard got injured.

He’s got no hair but we don’t care...

Absolutely not. Maybe in an fa cup tie against Oxford but not last 16 of a European trophy.

Collibosher

20:20 hindsight.
I’ll add mine: We would have won if we hadn’t had two enforced substitutions early in the game. Obviously we don’t know that, but it certainly undermined our plans for late in the game.

The Beast

In a match where we lost Saliba & Tomi to injury, I’m relieved we didn’t risk Ødegaard, Saka or Partay earlier. But to each his own

He’s got no hair but we don’t care...

Oh I gigantically hate Manure and that bald tool of a manager but he/they are obviously doing something right in Europe that we’re not. They beat Betis 5-1 and let’s be honest, we should have had a similar result against sporting. Manager got the starting line up wrong. If he starts with Saka and our captain we win.

Maybe because they care about it more than we do. Even subconsciously.

FatArse

Give yourself a break

He’s got no hair but we don’t care...

I’ll try.

What rubbish. Betis are full of grandads and you compare them to sporting who play slick fireball

He’s got no hair but we don’t care...

Yeah course. Beating Betis by a decent margin is well beyond our team. Now that’s rubbish!

A Different George

Do you honestly think Arteta wasn’t aware that starting Saka (and Partey and Odegaard) would have given us a better chance to win this game?

He’s got no hair but we don’t care...

That just makes the situation even worse. In fact you increase the chances of injury of these players you bring on to chase/change the game!…and you saw that almost happen with Saka getting taken out.

Rest easy my friend of the follicular challenges.
That absolute shit hole of a club are about to hit a big granite wall.
Check their upcoming fixtures now in the prem……….they are shite and will remain so.
And the beautiful thing is, that Ferguson will be at every game.

He’s got no hair but we don’t care...

Oh dear Lord I hope so!

Der Kaiser

What a captain! Says all the right things “ we win together and lose together” ( both team
and supporters). It’s that unity that has got us to where we are

charvakan

That dreaded new manager bounce again Sunday? Let’s hope not.

Greenbeetle

The dreaded caretaker more like.
