Arsenal Women have sold out Emirates Stadium for the first ever time with their UWCL semi-final second leg at home to Wolfsburg now completely sold out.
The women’s team have managed three attendances of over 40,000 at the stadium this season already but Monday represents the first ever time they have sold the club’s main stadium out.
Prior to this season, the 12k they attracted for a Champions League game against Barcelona was the biggest attendance they had managed. It marks a triumph of marketing at the club but also shows the explosion of interest in women’s football in England since the Lionesses won the European Championships last summer.
Arsenal put the tickets on sale for the Wolfsburg game as soon as the final whistle went in their amazing quarter-final victory over Bayern Munich and sales have remained strong from there. Last week in Germany, the Gunners drew their first leg with Wolfsburg 2-2 having been 2-0 down and severely depleted on the playing side, with Beth Mead, Vivianne Miedema, Leah Williamson and Kim Little all out for the season and Caitlin Foord unavailable in Germany too.
The winners of Monday’s tie will play Barcelona in the final in Eindhoven on 3 June after the Catalans defeated Chelsea 2-1 on aggregate in their semi-final. Arseblog News will, of course, have all the coverage for Monday’s game as well as an Arsenal Women Arsecast on Sunday evening with all the bits and pieces from Sunday’s MD-1 media day at London Colney.
It’s wonderful news that such a huge match for us has sold out,” said Chief Executive Vinai Venkatesham. “We would like to say thank you to our supporters, with over 60,000 tickets sold for Monday’s match. We also say thank you for your fantastic support throughout the season – at Emirates Stadium, at Meadow Park and at grounds across England and Europe. It promises to be an exciting night in north London and we’re delighted that Jonas and our women’s first team will have the backing of so many supporters on this big occasion in the club’s history.”
Wow. Just wow!!
Wonderful news. Very well done to the marketing team. Mothers welcome, zebras not allowed – you know it makes sense!
Now let’s make Monday a historic night for Arsenal Women, the Queens of London.
COME ON
Any news on wheb Caitlin Foord would be back???

You haven’t mentioned if any English team has ever won the UWCL – you’re clearly an imposter.
I think it is significant that we have won, lost and drawn at the Emirates and the fans have kept coming regardless.
