It was certainly a result not befitting of the occasion as Arsenal were beaten by Liverpool in front of a WSL-record crowd of 54,115 at home at Emirates Stadium.
Tim Stillman takes us through an opening day filled with excitement and anticipation all the way to disappointment and deflation in defeat.
Was too early to experimenting with new formations, especially with the number of newcomers into the team, I understand was forced by Maritz and Laura injuries, Jonas underestimated Liverpool, the girls don’t take their chances wen we are dominating, brilliant goalkeeping of Liverpool, i can’t say the same of us, to be honest, the team to me looks promising, but time playing together is necessary. wasn’t a proper preseason; last two weeks only the Aussies and the ACL group were in the training field so is not a surprise outcome for me. Time to sack the coach? Or are there other mitigating factors?
Overall a poor performance I agree but enough chances to win that game were created in the first half and none were converted. The players have to take some responsibility as well. Lots of knee jerk reaction on here to oust Jonas but there are very few suggestions on who to replace him with. As my boss would say “bring me solutions, not problems!”
