Arsenal have confirmed that youngster Conor Henderson will miss at least 6 months after damaging his cruciate knee ligaments in Arsenal’s 2-1 win over Cologne.
The 19 year old slipped and fell awkwardly in the final few minutes of the game and was stretchered off in obvious discomfort. It’s a blow for the young Irishman who was beginning to feature in and around the first team squad last season.
On his Twitter account he confirmed the injury, saying “I have damaged my ACL and lateral meniscus and will miss rest of season.I’m absolutely devastated but am determined to come back stronger!”
Meanwhile, there are fears over Theo Walcott’s ankle injury with Arsene Wenger saying it needs further examination.
Theo went home early and was due to have an MRI on Tuesday,” he told Arsenal.com. “It is an old ankle injury from the end of last season. It’s one that comes and goes.
“We need some more investigation because sometimes he’s completely free of it and sometimes it affects him. But we had to send him back because he couldn’t practice anymore.”
Walcott is likely to miss this weekend’s Emirates Cup and will miss the chance to face his ‘mentor’, Thierry Henry, who returns to the Emirates with current club New York Red Bulls.
And so it begins !!!!
Bound to be the returning of an old injury. Is there a single piece of his anatomy he had previously damaged.
Read hasn’t not had… You hang a leg in and wait for contact you get hurt. Stick a shoulder in and make contact you don’t … That’s my philosophy on how not to get injured
I’ve played ball for 18 yrs now and never had a bad injury
I think they over analyse these things . Whatever happend to just running it off ? Theo’s made of glass, another injury plagued season awaits us
You don’t just “run off” an ACL injury.
I doubt your level of play is quite the same as Arsenal. Your 5 a side doesn’t count as avoiding injury
I see the arsenal injury crisis is kicking off early this year
Gutted for the Youngster.. he was actually passionate about playing for Arsenal.. I hope he makes a quick recovery..
I would like to see you run off a cruciate knee ligament injury or a broken leg.
Why oh why don’t we invest in metal alloy adamantium injections…
The first of MANY to come.
Walcott needs a whole season to break out, bad omens already..
@hurley … use Ur head kid , i was obviously talking about theo’s sore ankle
ACL damage? Out for 6 months? Obviously got the wrong DNA.
Feel for the kid. GWS.
Was waiting for a relative at heathrow on Sunday and Conor was wheeled past me with a leg brace on looking thoroughly pissed off. Good luck with the recovery!
Tomc, what does GWS stand for? I know DNA stands for deoxyribonucleicacid and ACL is the ligament.
I really hope Theo isn’t too bad he really does need a full season.
Grandad wears stockings.
GWS = get well soon. Please feel free to us It’s an ambition of mine to contribute to the acronym vernacular 🙂
Seriously – I hope we see him back sooner than the 6 months suggested.
A Gunner through and through.

Every pre-season this seems to happen…
Last year was Frimpong, now Henderson. Both players again with promising futures (hopefully at Arsenal) missing out! Funny how it never or rarely happens at other top clubs…maybe it’s how these young promising players are training that they end up with these injuries! Get our old head physio back who went to the England senior set-up I say….
Talk about mugshot, he looks like a crack addict in that photo. Best wishes go towards his recovery nonetheless
