Wojciech Szczesny has backed Theo Walcott after his two goal salvo against the Wanky T*ttenham Hotspur who, despite traveling all the way to Rome to see Benedict himself, were given short shrift and told exactly where to go by the pope.
Walcott’s form has been inconcistent, to say the least, encapsulated by his display on Sunday. A poor first half followed by a storming second.
But Arsenal’s number 1 believes hard work on the training pitch will ensure more second halves than firsts.
“Theo scored two goals, which is all you can ask for,” Sczcesny told Arsenal Player. “They were both very good. He has come under a little bit of stick for his finishing but he took those two very well and we are very pleased for him.
“He’s a very good lad and he is probably one of the best trainers in the dressing room. He works very hard every day, scores a lot of goals in training and just needs to get the goals in games.
“But we are very pleased for him and we hope he can do it all over again in the games from now.”
The big Pole also joined the chorus of those praising Robin van Persie, suggesting there’s no better player, let alone striker, in the English game right now.
“He’s not bad is he? He only scored one goal today though, which is really disappointing for him! We are used to him scoring a hat-trick.
“But he set up a couple and he was great. He worked very hard defensively, headed a few balls away when we defended corners and scored a fantastic goal.
“That’s what he is all about – he is the best player in the Premier League and we are very pleased to have him.”
Szczesny also wants to use Sunday’s win as a kickstart for our season. The title might be out of reach but he’s hoping the boost it gives Arsenal serves also to derail Sp*rs.
“After what we have done, we believe we can challenge T*ttenham. We have the momentum. Will there be psychological effects for them? As an Arsenal fan, I hope so. I said ages ago that we can’t realistically win the Premier League any more but now, my main ambition is to finish above T*ttenham.
“You can see that we are not any worse than them and when we have the momentum and are on the front foot, we are very dangerous. I hope we can use that to our advantage and get the momentum to start challenging.”
Let’s hope so indeed.
“Will there be psychological effects for them? As an Arsenal fan, I hope so”
you fucking beauty.
“He’s not bad is he? He only scored one goal today though, which is really disappointing for him! We are used to him scoring a hat-trick.”
haha, damn I love Szczesny 😀
You spelled his name wrong. It’s 52czesny
I fuckin love The Shez
Now that’s our number 13
13 thumbs up!
Ok what does trainer mean for sczc ?
by the sound of it, a punchbag with twticher’s face painted on
Someone should make a t-shirt saying. “SZCZESNY SAVES”
..but he doesn’t! He’s been quite average this season but I’ll attribute that to the shaky defence in front of him.
Average compared to the carbon rod and flappyhandski? Some perspective please.
You’ve proven the point that I was trying to make – yes he is better than Fab/Almunia but how much better exactly is he?
Please don’t be blinded by the gooner for life attributes of Scz, yes it is great to see but if he doesn’t win us games it counts for FUCK ALL.
I can remember at least a dozen top saves he has made this season
@yusuf: please point out these DOZEN top saves that Scz has made this season?
Just to be clear I don’t dislike Scz because he is our best goalkeeper but he is certainly not the title challening keeper that we need.
I have hopes that he will improve once our defence gets sorted out but for now I only see an average GK who is better than Almunia/Fab.
People simply praise Scz because he is outspoken and has gooner attributes but if you take away that there’s nothing exceptional about him.
Edit: I don’t dislike Scz, he is our best goalkeer. Don’t know why i typed “because”
please, pleeeaasse! press mute! but look very closely… this guy is world class. Add to that the love and commitment he brings to his game and you will fall in love. Just the tip of point winning saves (come to think of it, every save is a point winning save, really)
and you know, sorry about the youtube video but still… it’s worth a look! our keeper for the next 20 years folks, make no mistake.

(why the AWFUL AWFUL music… there can not be an arsenal fan behind this, i am sure).
Walcott can look clumsy in stretches as if he’s got two front feet.
How many front feet do you have or need?
When do we get to cluster fuck Szczęsny!?
He’s got a great sense of humor doesn’t he! If Theo’s finishing were a little better he’d have had a hat trick against Spuds. He’d also have quite a few more goals this term. I think part of his finishing problems is that his brain doesn’t move as fast as he can run so he’s always hesitating a little too long and by the time he does shoot it’s not ideal. He’ll get better, maybe if he plays in the middle instead of on the wing all of his game will improve. Please take him off the wing where he… Read more »
That must be why after his first miss Theo was bashing his head with his right hand, like you would a telly with a duff picture.
Seemed to work for him…….
Maybe Szcz can smack him in the head a couple times before the match starts and we can’t start things off right!
To be fair to theo i think he’s so good when faced with teams playing an open game and does struggle against the parked buses. That’s more to his game than consistency.
If he trained more on ‘bus jerking’ and learns the value of a one-two before he sprints at times he’ll would be there. But he’s only 22? So i keep my high hopes.
As for RVP, what can you say? [(messi, RVP, ronaldo),…… ] …. The rest…….) ….me…… Huddlestone.
………………………………………………………………………………………………………Torres
Ya we should shift theo to the middle and rvp to the bench. Haha go back to bed mate. Theos gone this summer.
Let’s be honest, we all knew that Sunday is the kind of scenario Theo thrives in–against a team that will attack us and not park the bus, on the Emirates pitch. Of course he lights it up in training; think about how much damage he could cause if he actually played against the Arsenal defense in a game.
What we want to see from him is productivity against the Sunderland types who won’t give him any space.
In all fairness, the ability to use the ball cleverly in tight spaces is something that older players tend to have more of. Given that he’s only 22, I think there’s a chance that Theo will only improve in that respect.
tbf if we had a more balanced squad, you wouldn’t start Theo for the “park the bus teams” you would use a more technically gifted player.
Say you then score early and the other team start pushing forward.. you throw on Theo for the counter attacks.
Sorry man, posted before reading your comment on theo. Spot on.
About my grammer, there’s some time difference over here and most times i am already at the pub. And arseblog is the only thing that can draw my attention away from the beer and women every now and then
The proof we need is a great game against Liverpool…..come on lads, keep it going!
Money’s on Theo having a good game. I usually associate the pre-Dalglish team as poor in the wings. Theo should thrive in with their high line and forcing their winger and fullback deeper .
Advice for Wenger, anytime Theo want to enter the pitch just look him in the eyes and say ‘Train well kid’. That does it, I bet.
Off topic I don;’ know if this is true or not but regarding podolski contract situation running down the player can agree pre contract with another club like chamakh did in january 2010 before signing the summer 2010. I hope it’s true that means quality backup for RVP also they are similar players and can play together not to mention that podolski can play left wing in 4-3-3 formation that is his current role in German team.
http://www.theshortfuse.com/2012/2/28/2830931/arsenal-transfer-rumours-lukas-podolski?
loving the fact that all of a sudden we have players who really CARE about the club! Super Ches, RVP, Jack, Jenks, Frimpong, Bac…I could go on! Im Loving it! Not perfect yet by any stretch but this is what we have been lacking in recent years IMO. got rid of rubbish who couldn’t give a shit like Denilson, Na$ri, Arshavin, The greatest striker that ever lived…I could go on!
szczzny for the love of dennis, stop there talking ..talking…focus ffs , uve looked wee bit unconvincing recently…just …of fook….COYG!!! (im a sceptic ..sue me)Done fooking jinx it by all these talking. dont see arteta..rosicky talking ..FOCUS!!!!!!!
How about you stop talking?
Don’t know why you got so many thumbs downs but all that Scz has been doing this season is talking. Has he won any games for us? Maybe the Sunderland game but those saves were regular saves. He has lost games for us for sure. Rabid Gooners will vote me down but they will also be unable to come with reasons as to why Scz has been good this season.
Just out of interest, do you know of any Szcz stats for this season i.e shot save ratio etc…?
@Krakfish Scz’s shot to save ratio is only 57% – Third Worst in the league. THIRD WORST. This is from this season but prior to January 2012. HOWEVER I don’t want to judge him on status alone ; his overall confidence seems weaker than last season and the stats back me up on this one http://www.eplindex.com/6544/szczesny-fabianski-almunia-true-lies.html Look I’m happy with Scz ‘cuz he is the best we have at the moment but I just dont see why Arsenal fans seem to accept that he is a good keeper! Better than Almunia/Fab of course but he needs to improve a great… Read more »
ergh. I don’t want to judge him on STATISTICS alone.
According to several German media (bild.de, sport1.de), Podolski will be a Gunner after this season. Those are the main media sources in Germany and they all report more or less the same thing, so there is definately something in the bushes…
The news are real they are even on sky sport german
http://www.sky.de/web/cms/de/bundesliga-lukas-podolski-wechselt-offenbar-nach-london.jsp
Ya and Juan Mata is a gunner and I’m pretty sure they also said we had signed some chap called Ricky Alvarez. O wait, that’s right.
52czesny!
high 5-2 you
YAH!
Oh look at the time it’s 5-2!
5-2czesny
There are reports emerging tonight from Germany that we have agreed terms with Lucas padolski, it’s an exclusive on the daily mail website, and also the german bild paper aswell,.. interesting.
Great news lads!!
http://www.teamtalk.com/arsenal/7554237/Van-Persie-doubtful-for-Holland ( obviously arsene engeneerd so he doesnt get injure in a pointtless friendly 😉 )
this week keeps getting better!!! next thing you know the FA will decide that tottenhams diving disgrace for a team should be relocated to a radioactive desert island to provide cannon fodder for the indeginous giant man killing scorpions.
Lets hope it’s not really a goring injury….
groin*
Can’t wait to hear that at the Emirates! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ho9QpMNYC9k
anyone else see the picture of Szeszney hugging the ball boy after theo’s second? if you havent, then go check it. The passion this kid show’s when we are behind or go in front is exactly what this club has been looking for in between the sticks.
Would be nice if he could translate that passion into actual performances on the pitch. Please don’t be blinded by the gooner for life attributes of Scz, yes it is great to see but if he doesn’t win us games it counts for FUCK ALL.
Nobody here likes you
I really don’t care if I’m disliked but no one has yet come up with a proper defense of Scz.
Should Scz get a free pass from criticism because he is outspoken and wears his Gooner heart on his sleeve? Hell fucking no.
Should he be excused because of his youth/inexperience? To an extent yes but how long is it going to cost us points!
Arsenal fans must be one of the most blinkered fans in existence.
Hi guys just reflecting on our big win on sunday, do you not think that it is only painting over the cracks. Theo got 2 goals but he was rubbish until then and our back four, even at 2 goals up who was confident that we would not concede. the bottom line is we have nothing won for another season and our squad needs serious surgery. Why dont the players play with that passion every week, they get well paid to do so, also why was djorou given an extension and 50k baffling?. WE win cause were arsenal……..
Looking for a new scapegoat now arshavins gone hey Mos?
Setting saves aside I personally suspect he has earned us a few points with his organisational skills and other mental strengths. And I’m sure even the most szcz critical posters on this thread would agree that the tens of millions it would cost to replace him would be better invested in other areas of the team anyway…
I’m not looking for a scapegoat as the other person above has stated you.
I’d be the first to eat my words when Scz starts performing well for us but as for now the stats don’t lie and those stats indicate that Scz might be low on confidence and needs to up his game. T
he GK position is currently the least of our worries. I’m just surprised that gooners seem to think that Scz is above criticism.
I for one will be happy to be proved wrong as the season continues.
Cheers to you fellow gooners.

You read a bunch of stats about his shot save % and figured out that he’s no better than Fabianski and Almunia, or rather some other guy did and you’re just parroting. That’s a case where statistics are misleading, or rather that you’re not looking at enough stats. You have to factor in things as whether the striker was one on one with the keeper, from what distance the shot was taken, shot placement, etc. Shot save % is always going to work against him this season since most of those goals came from defensive errors leading to goals you… Read more »
Time to eat your words and a big slice of humble pie!! Chop chop
If you are just purely going by stats then we should be much higher in the league than we are now, going by the possession and shots we had on some teams and still lost the games. So stats mean jack all. As for game saving stops, last season he made an incredible save to help us draw against spuds, another would be the amazing pen he saved against de Natalie to help qualify for the champions league. I could go on as well but I have proved my point, he is a great goal keeper something we have really… Read more »
if you haven’t seen the liverpool game tOday then I suggest you do!! Foolish man
