Arsene Wenger was pleased to report that Arsenal suffered no new injuries in the win over Everton on Wednesday as the Gunners overcame their final midweek fixture of the season.
Speaking ahead of Saturday’s game against Aston Villa, the boss gave an update to Arsenal.com on the fitness of his squad:
“It is difficult to say but I don’t think we have any big problems at all from Everton, just bumps and bruises as ever after a committed game. But no injuries.”
We have time to recover between games now,” he continued. “I felt that the period was even a bit long between Newcastle and Everton so you lose a bit of an edge off the competition sometimes.
But overall because they are big games, the players focus and everybody knows the importance of the games. That is why the focus is more natural. Some days you can switch off and lose your competitive edge a bit.
Currently sitting in third place after rivals Chelsea and Spurs lost and drew respectively in their last outing, the Gunners have a fine opportunity to ensconce themselves in the slipstream of Manchester United and City.
Stressing a need to focus solely on their own results, Wenger made clear that he and his squad would be paying no attention to results elsewhere despite Spurs travelling to Stamford Bridge on Saturday.
“What I want us to continue is our run and not be in a position where you have to look at the other results,” he told Arsenal Player.
“That is why I believe that the main focus is on us, not to be obsessed by other results and to just keep going.
“Of course the players will be aware of what is going on but it is not the last day of the season. We are in a position where what will matter is what we do at three o’clock against Aston Villa.
“We have to be professional and focus on what is important. What is important is our performance. We are happy and we keep people who love Arsenal happy if we turn up with a top performance.
“We have regained credit with our fans because we have shown a fantastic attitude and the more we show that, the more we will gain credit. That is the most important thing to do.”
No matter what happens this weekend, one of the two teams behind us is going to drop points. The fact that it’s Chelski and that *other* north London club just makes it all the better. Here’s to hoping for a draw!
…I want 3rd position and only that I want Chelsea to win it
AW.”His squad will not be paying attention to results elsewhere on Saturday”
With a 12.45 K.O between Spuds and Chelski could be difficult.A draw would
be a fantastic motivator to thrash Peanut Heads team and open that famous gap.
I want Chelsea win to speed up St Totteringham Day!!!!
Lets hope we see some action from Santos
How is the Gibbs/Santos competition going to be handled? Both of them are good enough to play for the first team so one of them will always be undoubtedly annoyed at missing out.
City has the same situation with Clichy and Kolarov, by the way.
Come On Arsenal! (and Ramsey may you find your shooting boots tomorrow)
I’m afraid there will be another notable death if he scored. Haha. Ok just kidding. Of course I want him to score! I’d love for Sir Szczesny to score as well!
COYG!!
Personally, I hope Ramsey is sitting on the bench.
Wise words from the boss, there. 3rd place is in our hands, so we just have to keep winning. Although we can’t realistically catch up with the Manchester sides at this point it would be nice to at least them under some pressure and prove that next season we can and will compete.
Much as I hate the Chavs, I hope they steal 4th place from Sp*rs, preferably on the last game of the season simply because it’s what the media-sponsored cock-shirted cunts deserve.
Just looked at Sp**s remaining games. Not a tough fixture in the lot. Arsenal HAVE to keep winning.
Maybe I’m just naturally more pessimistic than others around here but I am more nervous about 5th than I am excited about 3rd at this early date
I would love to see Chelski win, and eventually overtaking sp*rs for fourth, sending them back to where they belong. Below us out of the top 4.
Yeah i hate them both but i’d rather the spud bellends losing the bragging right.
if they finish 4th they might start thinking their one of the big team… The fucking joke that they are.
Ah yes, but if you reckon on Spuds finishing 4th, you start to understand Jack’s support for Chelski winning the CL….
I’d pay money to see the look on twitchy’s face if that happened.
Bob on.Spuds are just about fit for a cold Thursday night in Albania
i want ramsey and gervinho to score, in a 2-0 win. they need the confidence boost
and theo and park and chamakh and we give a run for santos, diaby and benayoun and that is enough.
Give way losers The Arsenal are coming…my wish for tomorrow’s derby between the two scums(chelshit and cuntspurs) is a goalless draw and with a lot of injuries to their shit players, while their fans have a go at one another and get banned for the rest of the season. Am I being kind or what…

We still playing man city and chelski so nothing is guarantee for 4th place. Good result for us is chelski to lose tomorrow cuz that would be 9 points behind us if we win our game. A draw will keep them around. Trust me guys a point would make big difference at this stage of the season. All we care is qualifying for champions league so who cares bout the other two?
I want us to finish third and tottenham 4th and Chelsea 5th but chelski will win the champions league so the totts still won’t get champions league!!!
Funny as that would be, under no circumstances do I want cunt Terry lifting the CL.
He deserves to finish his career knowing he, Mr Chavski, had the chance to win it and fucked it big style in Moscow. And then blubbed.
I hope it still keeps him awake at night the despicable horrible cunt.
“We are happy and we keep people who love Arsenal happy if we turn up with a top performance.
“We have regained credit with our fans because we have shown a fantastic attitude and the more we show that, the more we will gain credit. That is the most important thing to do.”
Amen to that. here’s hoping to more credit gained at 4.50pm tomorrow afternoon.
3rd. I cannot see us getting anything else. chelsea 4th. spuds 5th. ain’t a trophy, but will have to do.
