Arsene Wenger is optimistic that Jack Wilshere could return to playing action next month after confirming the 20-year-old midfielder was making good progress in training.
Wilshere, who was last seen in an Arsenal shirt in a former life, has long been ballyhooed by the boss as a ‘new signing’, but with several injury setbacks under his belt is rightly being treated with kid gloves by the medical team.
Speaking after his side’s playful 2-0 win over Liverpool, Wenger was confident that it would not be too long before the England international struts his stuff again at the Emirates.
Wilshere is looking very good in training…It depends what you call close, but I would say in a month he should be starting to play again.”
Basking in the glow of a complete team performance which saw the Arsenal midfield dominate proceedings at Anfield from start to finish, the boss also took time to analyse his midfield options.
“Look at our midfield,” he said. “You have (Mikel) Arteta, (Santi) Cazorla, Wilshere, (Francis) Coquelin and (Tomas) Rosicky. That is quality and there is a fight for the places.”
He’s not wrong, when everybody is fit, there are indeed some fine players at his disposal, especially when you consider the above quote doesn’t even name check Abou ‘MOTM’ Diaby, Emmanuel ‘Frimpong’ Frimpong, Aaron ‘Rambo’ Ramsey, and the chubby Russian.
Shaping up for a good season… but we should be careful not to put too much pressure on Wilshere, remember, he’s been out for a while.
If everyone else can stay fit there will be no pressure on Wilshere to lift this team!

How can Smokin Gunners comment possibly get a thumbs down?!?
2 thumbs down for that matter!!!!!!!
Hate to say it
but Diaby IS like a new signing
holy shit it’s a talking chair
I’d be more concerned about a talking big black cock myself, but each to his own.
epic
I like this chair. It’s ability to interact with human is most interesting.
Oi Chair, are you going to take all that shit Clint Eastwood said about you?
I don’t take shit from no one.
I am made for sitting not shitting
No, I won’t shut up chair
Actually spat out tea there, well played mate. lol
Please Jack come back strong and prove Judas he is wrong.
All we need one more credible striker and we can be in for the title.
pushing it
Giroud was the top scorer in the french league with a very similar career to Didier Drogba. All the top teams were interested in him, Bayern Munich notably dropped their interest after Gomez began to perform. If he hadn’t signed for Montpellier, he would have had a buyout clause of around 30 million at least. He is tall, strong, and majestic. He just needs to adapt his mindset to the pace of the league. ie: Being on the field. Even if he isn’t scoring, he is making the runs testing the defenders, opening space for our other players – and… Read more »
“He is tall, strong, and majestic”
I think someone may have a little crush on a certain frenchman
Sorry in all seriousness, I do have high hopes for Giroud and I’m confident that he will come good.
I love all Arsenal players dearly!
Even Squillacci???
We’re kind of going through problems…
so True brother!
he is an exceptional player with supreme movement… wait for his goal score flood gate to open 😀
his all qualities especially Ariel power is yet to b used 😉
Will be great to have Jack back, I think we now have the best ball-playing central midfield in the league and adding Wilshere to the mix will be naughty! Shift Cazorla out onto the right and it’s – Arteta, Diaby, Wilshere, Podolski, Cazorla – weekly 80% possession statistics ahoy!
Even the ‘Cuddly Maverick’ looked sharp when he came on, keeping the ball well. Just isn’t a spot for him in the starting 11 at present – good option from the bench though.
hey. what about Rosicky? Surely he’s too good to be on the bench
I am happy cos very soon Ramsey will be cemented on the bench.
All he s lovers should admit that he has no place in Arsenal midfield anymore.
The obvious question is where would he play? Our current midfield is so good. Thank goodness I’m not the manager.
wilshere will make his own place.you cant keep such an exceptional talent out of the team when fit.
Wonder how Wenger wants our midfield trio to look like when everyone’s fit..? Cazorla out on the right wing maybe, but then there’s no room for the Ox, who will only get better and better.
maybe there is a more central role for ox at the field? as the pre season suggests.
We have 4 competitions and there will be rotation.
theres a nice article by ‘beautiful groan’ who tries his vision of the ‘new’ midfield … worth a read
Ots only 3 games in. There r plenty of games for them to all get starts in the first 11. Rotation is key to a successful season. We need to protect the likes of Cazorla, Diaby, Arteta n co
Exactly, we need the coq to get in on the act too. Wonderful squad player, better give him a run in at some of the home games.
I can’t even remember why we were in for Sahin anymore. I love selection headaches.
Nobody has even mentioned our highest paid player,”The Boy Wonder” that is Theo.
Theo can provide us with an Eto’o-like point of attack with Santi and Poldi either side and Wilshere back in the middle. Would love to see that, would love it. Think Theo’s wonderfully-timed, brilliantly-bended run in behind Sp*s’ defence in the 3-3 draw at shite Hart Lane a little while back. That and his finishing, along with his pace, is what Walcott’s all about. Not beating a man from a standing start on the right. He should be fed, not do the feeding. Give him the run of games centrally he craves and we’ll know once and for all if… Read more »
not quite world-beater yet … as a central striker, his hold-up play needs to be a lot better (which Giroud is doing well and will improve further) … also against the weaker teams there is hardly space behind the defence for him to run onto and, at present, he doesn’t have the skill-set to play in that capacity… he will be invisible then…
Well, he’ll deservedly be forgotten when he behaves like a twat…. He can see what the team can do without him.
Hopefully he’ll grow to know that rising to fame and falling from grace can be equally steep!
He should sign up and “join” the team, or consider himself not really part of it.
“the wonder boy”….. ha ha ha!
We have the best midfield in the Prem, better than the Chavs and the Mancs. You can’t deny it.
Steady on. That fabled Spuds midfield have been tearing it up.
Modric’s been fantastic for them, I guess convincing him to stay just proves what a big, big club they are.
at least i’m enjoying this season better than the last…Wilshere come back stronger and take your place and number. 10 has been worn by Legends: Dennis Bergkamp, Del Piero, Roberto Bergio, Zinidine Zidane, Platini (Even though he’s a cunt), and the next Legend we have in WILSHERE(arsenal’s DNA). COYG.
Ramsey and wilshere will form the best midfield partnership! They will emulate Xavi and Iniesta
Ramsey is good, but he is lacking a part of his game that I think he still has to learn. He is like a Diamond without shape. He now has the ability to choose, Arteta, Rosicky, Cazorla, and Diaby as his mould. When he came on yesterday he looked promising, and it looks like he prefers coming on as a sub instead of having the heaps of pressure from last season having many, many fans turning on him. Wilshere on the other hand is a freak, an unbelievable phenomenon with his own distinctive style of play. MOTM in every match… Read more »
Wow ‘An eventuality of an anomaly!’
I dont even know what that means, but wow!!!!
It means that eventually out of all the people born, someone with unprecedented talent will be born!
Only they won’t turn into bleeding vaginas along the way.
Midfield maestro in masterminding attacks, we’ve got cazorla.
Midfield maestro in organizing play and sublime ball distribution, we’ve got Arteta.
Now to have jack back in this already supreme midfield could only be a plus and a major at that.
And in other news john terry is still a cunt.
Arteta is the new Gilberto
Just what i thought last game. Arteta was everywhere on that pitch
I especily loved jenks confidence going into the liverpool game “we’re going there to win!”, that is exactly the mentality we should have every damn time, manifested in his play too.
True Gooner he is. Epitomized in his North Terrace stone in the Emirates.

Love the lad.
Trott Family. I bet they were all NORRIS OUT! during the move to Highbury. Plastics!
That actually brought a tear to my eye.
We have started really well this season. Squad is looking good. I think with jack, he’ll be on the bench get 20 mins here and there and maybe some cup starts. id rather take it slowly than get some doppy cunt shawcross him!! I jus hope diaby doesnt get…….Diaby’ed on france duty. what wankers to call him already!
I hope you all forgive me for going off topic. I just read this astonishing letter an American owner wrote to his club’s fans after a shambolic transfer window. Yes we seem to be in a far better shape than them, but I think this, more than anything, shows you how communicating with your fans, laying out your vision and why-not: explaining some of the controversial decisions, can make the world of difference, and in today’s world is so very very crucial. Again, I’m not commenting about this board, and owners style of conducting football and business matters, but I… Read more »
That’s how you see it. But to me, the fact that an owner has to release an open letter to the fans 3 weeks into the season shows how poorly run the club is.
So, you think that communicating your vision and strategy to the fans is a sign of … weakness?
the problem is having to “[communicate] your vision and strategy to the fans” so early on in the season.
PS….. Can I please have my wheels back as I have no need for the bricks in their place.
The sight yesterday of Rogers looking at his bench, knowing that the only striker he had available had already been on the pitch for 60 minutes was… pretty something.
How Liverpool have managed this, I don’t know.
Goddamnit man there goes 1 min of my life just scrolling past that…
You could have just posted a link to it.
I cant wait to have Jack back although I do wish we had bought another striker but you cant have everything in life. Our defence looked amazing and I do think if we can keep them all fit life will be very different for us. i am looking forward to the manchester clubs coming to the emirates now and hopefully Vermy will smash that herring eating twat in the face.
The only badge he will be kissing is gunnersaurus rusty sheriffs badge !!!
COYG
on yesterday’s game Wilshere might struggle to get into the side, but if we can get him within an inch of where he was before the injury will have a very strong midfield on our hands. What I love about Arteta and Jack is they work so fucking hard for the team and with Jack’s determination and Arteta’s composure along with Santi’s creativity we should be in very good nick. Throw in the skills of Diaby and the creativity of Tomas when he’s fit…….this good just be one of my favourite Arsenal sides IF we get it right. God i… Read more »
JW10 could rotate with diaby depending on the kind of opposition.
It’ll be nice to be able to ease Jack back into the side with minutes here and there. Hopefully the current side stays fit so that we dont have to throw him in to bail out a thin ‘ish squad fighting the injury monkey.
On another note, i dipped into ‘Legrove’ blog this morning and you’d be mistaken in the thinking we’d just been pasted by Liverpool. The infighting over there is incredible!!
I must admit, I have only heard of the fabled Legrove in stories until now, and my curiosity got the better of me.
Mother of God
LeGroan is a really disturbing place.
It’s like that place in that film (is it Labrynth? I can’t remember) where you go there and become instantly depressed.
You’re thinking of Milton Keynes.
heh.
Decided to dip in for the first time and… hey, it doesn’t look all that bad*! The ‘infighting’ seems to be based around one doomer and everyone else calling him a cunt… which is about the same as you get around here with Fatgooner, Adma and the like.
I even picked up a couple of food for thoughts – like the possible reason Theo is fucking around with his contract is because he wants assurances that he gets to play up front… which is interesting.
*based entire off the most recent article.
Don’t really understand people reading stuff they know they’re not going to like, life’s too short.
That said, on deadline day someone on the Arseblog comments spoke about some of them hoping for Wenger’s death and a hefty defeat yesterday. I assume just because they could say ‘I told you so’ about transfers. I just don’t understand that mindset at all.
Whenever I see a post like that I just think of this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V_Qrt1k8qHo
These people have forgotten that football is at the end of the day, entertainment.
I think you need to have a medical with lfc.
Can’t wait till he’s back we can then rotate and competition is good, hope he’s back for manc game our fully fit midfield would destroy theirs
Sagna-Kos-Verm-Gibbs
Arteta
Diaby-Wilshere
Cazorla—-Poldi
Giroud
I’d give the nod to Kos over BFG, he was our stand out defender last season and I think he would have dealt with Saurez a bit better than the BFG. Maybe Walcott can compete with Giroud, but I think the above team could challenge, just afraid we are missing a top, top, top striker, someone like Falcao.
Future is looking bright today, that could all change by the end of September.
totally agree with you! kos is not starting because of the euros and last season’s run of games.he deserves some rest.also i think arsene will bench kos until sagna is back cuz kos can slot in at right back if there is any problem with jenks. BUT we definitley need a top top top player in january regardless of how we perform.we should just hope for similar performances until then. also against SOTON i would really like to see chamakh or arshavin play.these guys are out next window if they don’t fulfill their potential.they better perform when the morale is… Read more »

What a headache will it be for Mr Wenger when Jack ” the-midfield-commandant ” Wilshere returns!!!
will be great to have Jack back. At the moment we’re looking great in the middle, so (touch wood) they shouldn’t have to rush him back.
We have so much quality there. I’m still a bit worried about being left light up front if we pick up injuries but if we don’t then, fuck it, I think we’ll have our names on a trophy this season.
It’s the season of the LANS. Hope they repay the manager with a trophy.
Oi u fuckers leave Milton Keynes alone! ; )
No.
Sorry, but I used to do multidrop deliveries and sometimes went to MK.
Should have been a doddle, ‘cos the big roads have a “V number” (vertical gridlines) or an “H number” (horizontal gridlines). So with a “V” and “H” number, it’s a piece of piss to find anywhere.
The locals would never divulge the V/H coordinates of their nearest roundabout, due to being to far up their own bumholes…….
This is the most interesting thing about Milton Keynes I’ve ever read.
Please Wenger, extend he’s contract NOW !
So excited to hear about Wilshare’s progress, can’t wait to see him in action again for The Arsenal. COYG!!!
Diaby and Jack are the key. The 2 Spaniards we have in midfield are solid and reliable. If Diaby can deliver performances like y’day and Jack can pick up where he left off, then our midfield will be fine with good options on the bench like Rosicky, Ramsey and the slimmer than last year Russian.
I’m glad that diaby played well the other day but lets not forget how inconsistent and injury prone he can be…
