Jack Wilshere needs regular game time with the Reserves before Arsene Wenger will consider re-introducing the young midfielder into the first team fold.
The England international returned to training this week after nearly 14 months sidelined by injury, but despite arousing excitement from his teammates, it appears he will continue to be handled with kid gloves by the manager.
“We need to manage him well,” Wenger told journalists ahead of Sunday’s showdown with Manchester City.
“He needs a few games in the reserves. He had ups and downs. He was focused, especially in the last three months. We have to be a bit cautious.”
“When you’re so young and you’re out for 14 months, it’s a good test for your mental strength.
“I always thought he would come back. I believe what he’s gone through will make him even stronger.”
According to James Olley of the Evening Standard, Wenger also remarked that Wilshere would train for 10 days before featuring in a Reserve fixture. Taking that into account it’s fair to say he won’t be gracing the Emirates turf (at first team level) for around three weeks.
One midfielder who could play sooner is Emmanuel Frimpong. The Ghanaian enforcer could play for the Reserves this evening after overcoming his second cruciate knee ligament injury in three years.
The 20-year-old hasn’t played any football since an ill-feted spell on loan with Wolves.
“He’s a bit in front of Jack on match fitness. He could play tonight for reserves. He has worked a very, very long time and he is ready.” Wenger confirmed.
So it’s good news on two fronts and with Bacary Sagna and Tomas Rosicky also on the mend the medical team may well find themselves twiddling their collective thumbs soon. That’ll jinx it.
Arsennnnnneeeeeee. I love this top bloke.
“wilshere to come back even stronger”…..now who doubts that?
Jack Wilshere the KING of midfield will inject creativity and finesse back to our game. Arsene Wenger must be extremely excited abt the future prospect.
Good news for the family
Cygan left foot perhaps?
I am looking forward to wilshere as much as anyone, but come on, doubt what wenger says? The man who only praises the team’s mental strength at the exact time when it is falling apart. He is the master propagandizer, and i think he’s the best manager for arsenal
Where there is a Wil, there is way.
An even stronger Wilshere in an even stronger Arsenal.
COYG!!
+*Wil = *Sheer squad strength.
He Wilshere his improved Mental Strength with us.
Jack could come back & be one of the players of the season, he is THAT good. But we have to be careful not to put too much pressure on the lad, especially when we’re winning without him
Conditions at the moment seem good for Wilshere to ease his way back into the side. Diaby’s strong form means that he will not be expected to superhero-rescue the midfield, and Cazorla takes the pressure off him to create. Lets hope we feel as relaxed after the ManSh and Chelsk games.
Hi.. Now that Wilshere is back, can I come back to my loving arsenal?
Dont ask us, listen to that kid inside you.
Yes! Only after you under loyalty test. A true gunner must stick around come rain, come sun…
Come little children also.
You two faced twat, do you even remember the emirates direction. Consult the kid in you please.
@RVP’s cock, why don’t u stick to your current club, we don’t u back because u will leave again when arsenal is passing thruogh difficult time
No! Fuck off with your mancunian herpes!! Twat
Should be careful with the hype – Rosicky and Vermaelen took about a year to recover form. Ramsey is also just getting back to his best too.
Also who do we drop to play him?? Our best player 2 years ago could be out of the first XI – who says we aren’t as strong as we used to be?!
Arteta and Rosicky aren’t getting any younger, and Wilshere, Frimpong, Coquelin are still around 19 – 21.
We don’t drop Arteta or Cazorla. They’re key to our midfield and our team. As much as I like Diaby, I’d say you drop whoever is the third midfielder… (But only once we’re REALLY sure Wilshere’s back and in top form. And that could be longer than we all think.)
I think, at least in the short term, Wilshere and Diaby could swap in and out. Both are recovering from long-term injury and could do with some reduced duty.
No comments about Theo’s face in the picture yet? Tut, tut.
Combine his face with how he is holding that bottle…
He looks like a kid with a new toy. There.
He does look rather like he’s blowing his load with the homoerotic scene going on next to him. Is that what you wanted?
No. You?
Its a great photo. Quite clear which two of those guys want to play for us. And which one doesn’t.
Bench. Sub, but only if we really need him. Until he comes to his senses. But if he doesn’t, we can live without the guy, whatever his agent thinks. Offer him 65k.
wut
somebody call a waambulance.
Sorry Mikel, you’ll have to excuse me. As a mere mortal living in meat world, I’m afraid I have no idea what your response means.
It means your photographic and tactical negotiations analysis has some serious flaws and besides which, makes you sound like a whiny fuckface.
Oh dear. That’s me told then.
Huh?
[scrolls up]
Oh, grow up 007!
But the kid inside of me has been molested by Patrice Evra ever since I got here.. I want my mummy.. Waaaaaa *sobs*
Don’t quit your day job.
Well your mommy is an arsenal fan. Go cry with wayne chimpney under your beds.
They could make a sex tape together with Ferdy… heard he quite likes those.
Theo looks a bit isolated. Did Wenger instruct the boys not to talk to Theo until he signs a new contract? Lol!
Who needs Theo when Ox is the real deal
Good news all around, now who could still be doubting us winning some trophies?
COYG!
I’d imagine Wenger always has Carzola on Frimmers side in training for fear of him being Frimpong’d!
No more CARzola.
Dudes that picture was from 2 seasons ago, i reckon thats not our training kit presently #PurpleReigns. Welcome back Jaaaaaaackkkkkkkkkk!!!!!!
Good point, and doesn’t Jack have tattoos down his arm now.
and a new hairdo too
Also I think you’re missing a huge chunk of your brain.
walcot should sign, soon we will be invincible & he would regret not being part of it…… Up the GUNNERS
hate having to write this constantly!!
But why would anyone thumb down m.g’s statement???
Dont we want Theo to sign?? Cos i do!!!

The beards of the young men glisten’d with wet, it ran from their long
hair,
Little streams pass’d over their bodies.
An unseen hand also pass’d over their bodies,
It descended trembling from their temples and ribs.
The young men float on their backs, their white bellies bulge to the sun,
they do not ask who seizes fast to them,
They do not know who puffs and declines with the pendant and bending
arch,
They do not think whom they souse with spray.
Good old Walter White.
I’m fascinated by the tension in sports between homoeroticism and homophobia. And when I saw the pic of three young boys glistening, I thought immediately of Song of Myself.
Impossible not to, really.

[…] Wenger has stated that Jack Wilshere is just 10 days away from an appearance in a reserves fixture, which is quite the surprise. If I were a betting man, I would put money on Wilshere’s first […]
IMO, luckily we didn’t sign Nuri Sahin.
[…] With Jack Wilshere’s return now visible on the horizon, the manager was obviously asked many a question about the young Englishman.
